Dec. 10. 98. Grant by Robert Earl of Warwick, Governor-in-Chief and Lord High Admiral of all the Plantations in America, and others joined in commission with him, to the Governor, Assistants, and Freemen of Massachusetts Bay, of all that tract of land called the Narragansetts Bay, bordering north and north-east on the patent or plantation of Massachusetts, east and south-east on Plymouth Plantation, south on the ocean, and west and north-west inhabited by Indians called Nahiggasucks, alias Narragansetts, the whole tract extending about 25 English miles to Pequot river and country, to be added to the colony of Massachusetts; with powers of government, in accordance with the King's letters patent to the plantation of Massachusetts, to them and their successors being true Protestants, and liberty to erect new towns, churches, or chapels, with reservation of all lands heretofore granted and possessed by the King's Protestant subjects.
