59. Examination of Erasmus Stourton, late preacher to the colony of Ferryland in Newfoundland. Landed on 26th September last, having left Newfoundland the previous 28th August. Lord Baltimore arrived in the colony about 23rd July 1627, and with him two seminary priests named Longvyll and Anth. Smith, but left for England with Longvyll, and returned with another priest named Hacket and about 40 Papists. Every Sunday, Mass and all the ceremonies of the Church of Rome are performed. The child of one William Pool, a Protestant, was baptized into the Church of Rome contrary to the will of his father.
