March 5. Memorandum of a letter from the King to the Lords Justices directing a commission to be granted about forfeited recognizances. (Calendared in Cal. S.P. Ireland, 1660–62, p. 247.) [S.P. Ireland, Car. II. 349, No. 6.]

Whitehall.
The King to the Dean and Chapter of Windsor. Requiring them to elect and admit to the place of Chapter clerk, void by the death of Giles Baker, John Woodeson, who at the restoration, being then clerk assistant to the then Mayor, proclaimed the King solemnly at Windsor. Whitehall.
The King to the Wardens and Electors of Winchester College and New College. Desiring that James Watkins, son of Anne Watkins, relict of Thomas Watkins, late one of the clerks of the Privy Seal, be chosen into the first scholar's place at Winchester College at the next election. [Ibid. p. 340.]
March 18. Certificate by Capt. William Burrowes that the bearer, Philip Guppy, chirurgeon of the Martin, served in her from 21 June, 1659, to 25 Nov., 1660, the day she came to Deptford, and has not received any certificate from him for his recruit money nor any recruit money to that day. March 28. Presentment of the Grand Jury of Pembrokeshire of the names of five persons as having received various sums, the moneys of the inhabitants of Pembrokeshire, and also of Abram and Thomas Wogan and John Lort as having been about 1648 appointed treasurers for this county to receive 3,500l. by pretended ordinance of Parliament, which they have received and are accountable for, and also of Thomas and Griffith Davis, Richard Browne and Lewis Barlow as having been treasurers for the monthly assessment in that county for several years since 1642, which they have received and ought to be accountable for. March 30. The King to the [Master and Fellows of St. John's College, Cambridge]. Requiring them at the next election of Fellows to elect John Lucas, member of their college, to a Fellowship there, he having hitherto received no benefit by the former letters on his behalf. [S.P. March. The King to [the Dean and Chapter of Durham]. Whereas we have been informed by the petition of Dr. Isaac Basire, late one of the chaplains in ordinary to the late King and now one of your prebendaries, that for his loyalty and in abhorrence to the late usurpers he was forced to live in exile, in which condition he discharged the duties of a good Christian and subject, and that by reason of his long residence in foreign parts he is become so engaged in business of concernment that without manifest pre judice he cannot speedily return to England and be resident in your church, we dispense with his non-residence since the restoration and also for the future while his occasions shall enjoin his stay abroad and therefore require you to make him a participant of all emoluments of his said prebend due since the restoration and also of all future profits till his return and to pay the same to his wife Frances.
