1. Geo. Carew to Sir Wm. Cecill. With respect to two Privy Seals, directed to Mr. Somers and Mr. Bruerne, Canons of Windsor College.

Stafford Castle.
2. Edw. Lord Stafford to same. Complains of an outrage committed by one Bowyer, who claims to be Keeper of the Records in the Tower, on a servant of Lord Stafford's deputy, and depriving him of Stafford's key of the Records, which he prays may be restored. Incloses,
2. I. Considerations why the Queen's Highness' Records ought not to be kept under one man's key; detailing Lord Stafford's labours in arranging the Public Records in the Tower. Jan. 8.
Jan. 10. 3. Proclamation prohibiting the importation of French wines, by reason of the enmity between England and France.

Jan. 15. 5. Indenture between the Queen and Caspar Seeler, for the sole manufacture and sale of white salt in England, for the term of 20 years.
Jan. [ ] 5a. Heads of articles of licence and indenture with Caspar Seeler and Peter de Ruse, for the making and sale of white salt in England. [No date, but probably near in date with the preceding.]
Jan. 16. 6. The Council to Lord Tr[easur]er. Winchester and another Lord. Summoning them, by command of the Queen, to attend a conference concerning certain matters relating to the King of Spain.
Jan. 17. 7. Ceremonial of the interment of "the noble and puissant Princesse "Margaret Duchesse of Norfolk," at Norwich.
Jan. 20. 8. Indenture between Wm. Clopton and Wm. Porter, indorsed "This is the copy of the false deede which Grivel and Porter caused a suborned personne to acknolege afore a Mr. of the Chauncery, in the name of Clopton, wherby Porter conveyed to himself all Clopton's lands."
Jan. 22. 9. "A short fourme of thankesgevyng to God for ceassing of the contagious sickness of the plague, to be used in Common Prayer; set forth by the Byshop of London, to be used in the Citie of London, and the rest of his diocesse." "Printed by Richard Jugge and John Cawood, printers to the Quene's Majestie."

Jan. 28. 12. Tho. Browne to Cecill. Has taken a survey of the Earl of Oxford's lands within the county of Cornwall, and certified the same to the Court of Wards and Liveries. Incloses,
