August 10. 1. Lists of Her Majesty's ships, their names, burden, number of men. &c. Lists and estimates for setting forth 24 ships to the seas, 24th May, 1574, and for victualling the same, by Edw. Baeshe. [See also Vol. xcvi., pp. 275, 281.]
August 10 ? Note of cordage, sails, and other stores furnished to several ships serving in various parts. [See Vol. xcvi., pp. 308, 315.]

2. Mr. Sec. Walsyngham (?) to the Earl of Shrewsbury. The Queen desires Mr. Sacheverell might be re-admitted into the commission of the peace, unless there were any substantial reasons to the contrary.

August 19. 7. Walsyngham to Burghley. Has nominated Christopher Huddesdon to receive the 20,000l. appointed by Her Majesty for the purchase of gunpowder and saltpetre.
August 20. 8. Warrants for the payment and employment of the sum of 20,000l. to the person nominated by Mr. Walsyngham for the purchase of gunpowder and saltpetre. [Three warrants on one paper.]
August 21. 9. Indenture of award by Peter Cox, Esq., Mayor of Poole, and others, between Mr. Henry Asheley and Charles le Berquier, relative to 140 quarters of salt lately landed at Poole.
August 28. 10. Certificate of the Musters for the town of Great Yarmouth, names of the able men between 60 and 16 years, furniture of armour, weapons, &c. [Greatly injured by damp.]

13. The Council to the Commissioners of Musters for the County of Essex. Thanks to those who had been diligent in performing their instructions. If any have been remiss it should immediately be reformed. Desire to be advertised of their proceedings in training the men appointed.
August. 14. Names of commissioners appointed in sundry shires to have the special oversight for the restraint of the unlawful buying and engrossing of wool.
August ? 15. The answer of Richard Bolde to certain articles touching an imposition to be levied in the County of Lancaster, for support of recusants in prison under Mr. Worseley's charge.
August ? 16. Interrogatories proposed for the examination of John Sharp, touching the shipping of certain packs of wool from Romney.
August ? 17, 18. Form of a recognizance for ale-house keepers. The party to be bound by recognizance in the sum of 20s., and two sufficient sureties in 10s. each. [Two copies.]
August ? 19. Proofs on behalf of the plaintiffs, touching the rights of the tenants of Bromham as to commonage in the forest of Melksham, against Sir Henry Baynton, defendant.
August ? 20. Petition of Roger Poittow, merchant of Normandy, to the Council. Complains that his ship, named the "Pelican, of Kyllebeufe," laden with fish and oil, from Newfoundland, had been taken and plundered by John Granger, of Plymouth, and three of the mariners killed.
August ? 21. Estimate of the charge of two of Her Majesty's barks, viz., the Achates and the Merlin, to be set to the seas in warlike manner, for apprehending pirates in the mouth of the river Thames.
