Addenda (1698).

At the end of the Entry Book of passes granted at The Hague there is a "Form of a certificate of life," viz.: "I underwritten, his Majesty's ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary do hereby certify whom it may concern that the Sieur . . . &c. is living and in perfect health, having in order to the obtaining this certificate presented himself before me at The Hague this — day etc." The following entries occur:
July 28. A certificate on behalf of Monsieur de Moret, chevalier, seigneur de Lamau [or Laman], at the request of Monsieur Amyraut. [S.P. 44. 386. p. 1b.]
Sept. 16. A certificate of life to the Sieur James le Brun of Languedoc, recommended by Col. Lislemarais. [Ibid.]
Oct. 21. Another certificate to the Sieur Ch. de Vesc of Dauphiné, recommended by the same. [Ibid.]
