Miscellaneous 1560–1561

A.D. 1560.
Dec 13.
401. [Sir William Cecil] to the Duke of Savoy.
I cannot sufficiently thank your Excellency for the letters you have been pleased to write me, or say how much my power to fulfil your expectations will be below my desire to do so; being so clearly given to understand by the Sieur de Morette, your counsellor, the goodwill which you bear to her Majesty, as shown by your kind counsel and comfortable offer, which she has received in very good part, and has taken much comfort therefrom. And as one of the least of her servants, I offer my humble service to your Excellency. Westminster, 13 December, 1560.
Endd. “Mr. Secretary to the Duke of Savoy, 13 December, 1560.” Copy. French. 1 p. [S.P. For. Eliz. CXLVI. 1.] (Cf. letter of Jan. 20, 1560–1, calendared under date.)

402. Safe conduct for the Lord Eric, now by the death of his father, King of Sweden, to come to England with his officers, suite and attendants. Westminster, Feb. 16.
