A.D. 1583. April 20. 762. Walsingham to the Prince of Orange.
Praying him to assist Sir Henry Ratcliff in obtaining the recovery of a ship of his, seized some three years ago by M. Asseliers of Middleburg; for which purpose Sir Henry has received letters from her Majesty. The Court, 20th April, 1583.

Promising that William Harborne (Harrabroun) whom she has sent to the Porte with a most friendly letter, shall enjoy all such privileges there as have been granted to the French ambassador. Constantinople, at the end of Rabi II, in the year of Mohammed 991.

June 18. 764. Gilpin to Walsingham.
Since the departure of our last post, I have received two or three letters from Cologne, of which I enclose copies.
This town has not yet accepted the Prince, but it is said he will be here in three or four days to end some difficulties.
The enemy has taken Hoogstraete and another “house” which the States' men took before the surrender of Wouw, whither it is thought the enemy will bend part of his forces, and the residue to the siege of Herentals. The Switzers are leaving the States camp for want of pay.
Those of Tertolle are cutting their dykes towards the Brabant side, to assure their country. The enemy “hath in a manner thoroughly made himself master of the field, and may do and go where he listeth.” Middelburg, 18 June, 1583.
