J. Scrope to the Attorney General. Forwarding for his opinion thereon a memorandum concerning the office of Clerk of the Bills of His Majesty's Customs for all goods imported into and exported from England and Wales, application having been made for a further grant of a reversionary term of 31 years therein.

Jan. 9 Treasury warrant to the Auditor of the receipt, the Clerk of the Pells and all other the officers and ministers of said Receipt. To strike tallies for the discharge of the farm rent of Post Fines for the year ended 1738, Michaelmas, due from the Earl of Srafford.

Jan. 23 Treasury warrant to the Attorney General. To confess a plea to be put in by John Lee, of St. Andrew's, Holborn, clock maker, to the inquisition by which the estate of Samuel Lee, late of St. Giles in the Fields, clock maker, was found to be an escheat; said inquisition not being to be maintained, being incorrect.

Jan. 23 Treasury warrant to the Clerk of the Pipe or his deputy. For a lease to Benjamin Timbrell, of a messuage in St. Alban Street, part of the manor of St. James in the Fields, formerly part of the possessions of the late Hospital of St. James, and since of the Provost and College of Eton, and surrendered to the Crown by said Provost and College.

Feb. 1 Treasury warrant to the Clerk of the Pipe or his deputy, and to the Auditor of the land revenues of the Crown in the county of Huntingdon. To vacate a lease of the Hundred of Norman Cross, in Huntingdon, granted to Robert Apreece 20 March, 4 Geo. I. the same having been granted in fee by James I. to Edmond Sawyer and Thomas Brinley, and the Crown having consequently no title to the premises.

Feb. 16 Report to the Treasury from the Barons of the Exchequer, Scotland, dated Exchequer Chamber, Edinburgh. On the draft warrant for a signature of grant of the five pound land of Conquitoun, Over and Nether Campbeltoun et al. in the stewartry of Kirkoudbright, to William Gordon, of Campbeltoun, on his own resignation, and that of Basil Hamilton. Esq., of Baldoon. “We find that this signature contains only a taxing of the Ward holding of these lands, so that no Non Entry duties or Casualties and Forfeitures by recognition on escheat affecting the said lands can be discharged by the taxing of the Ward holding.” 1½pages.
