Dec. 3. Present: Lord Godolphin, Sir Stephen Fox, Mr. Smith.
[Send] to the Attorney General to be here on Friday afternoon about the petition of the inhabitants of Lindsey concerning coals.
Upon reading the petition of the inhabitants of Warwick for 1,000 tons of timber out of Needwood and 300l. a year out of the Excise, my Lords will report [to the King] that as to the 300l. a year the Excise revenue is at present so engaged and anticipated they cannot think it reasonable or proper to advise his Majesty to clog that revenue with any further charge; and as to the Forest of Needwood [they decide] to enquire whether the officers of the Duchy since the late alienation to Col. Vernon have taken the same [the forest] into their care.
Send to Mr. Hosyer to come to me [Lowndes] to-morrow morning.
Send to the East India Company that my Lords desire to speak with the Governor or some of the Committee on Friday next.
Send to Mr. Burton to come to me [Lowndes] to-morrow morning.
[Send] to the Victuallers to be here on Friday next.
[Send] to my Lord Carlisle, Sir Geo. Fletcher and the tenants of Lord Preston's estate to be here this day week.

Dec. 4. Kensington.
Present: The King, Lord Godolphin, Sir Stephen Fox, Chancellor of the Exchequer, Mr. Smith.
[Send word to] Mr. Twitty and Mr. Burton to attend on Friday afternoon. Mr. Abbot to be here then.
[The King directs the issue to Mr. Lowndes of] 1,500l. for secret service: to be paid out of the first money coming in of seizures.
The Earl of Ranelagh and Mr. Blathwayt attend. On his lordship's [weekly] paper [of demands of money for the Forces] several payments are directed [by the King, in all] making 16,478l. 13s. 4d.
[The King orders] Machado and Pereira to be paid 300 and odd pounds for the boats, but the King will not allow them more than the exchange was in May, to wit the rate agreed on with the Bank.
The petition of Londonderry [is read and] not granted.
Mary Bedford's petition is read.
Col. Wolseley's petition [is read and] granted, but [the King orders] Lady Longford's counsel to be heard and till then this petition is to be respited.
Mr. Ralph Grey's petition [is read and the King orders] the fine to be respited.

Present: Four of my Lords ut supra.
Speak to Mr. Blathwait to-morrow about the business of Maryland.
Enquire how the rent reserved on the lease to Lord Carlisle et al. hath been answered; and see how the rents and mesne profits of Lord Preston's estate [viz. of the tenants who] attorned before the making of that lease, have been accounted for.
Lady Longford and Col. Wolseley's agent are to be heard this day week.
Send to the officers of the Mint to be here on Friday afternoon.

The Earl of Ranelagh and Mr. Blathwayt are called in. His lordship's [weekly] memorial [for money for the Forces] is read [and the King orders the following issues]:
1,000l. for recruits for Aver's, now Wilkes's, Regiment.
3,000l. for the forage contract.
200l. for the Hospital at Rotterdam: to be sent to Mr. Hill.
500l. for subsistence for Miermont's Regiment.
