Treasury warrant to Phillip Ryley to fell dotard trees in Windsor Forest to the value of 50l. for the repair of a great number of bridges standing on the waste within the said Forest and in other parts of the manor of Bray which have from time to time been repaired at the charge of the King as Lord of the said Manor viz. three timber bridges in the Churchway from Braywick to Bray town and six more in the Churchway from Hollyport to Bray: the quit rents of the said manor being no longer available for the said repairs by reason they have been conveyed away by the Trustees for sale of Fee Farms. (The like notice to the Attorney and Solicitor General, Navy Commissioners, Earl of Orford, Sir Thomas Littleton, Mr. Dodington, Mr. Madocks and Mr. Hubbald.) Governor and President of the Council of Nevis whereby a moiety of the salary and perquisites of the said Governor accrue to them for such interim. As present Governor and Commander-in-Chief of the Leeward Islands you are to see said moiety paid to the Lieut. Governor of Nevis from the date of your Commission to the date of your arrival there. Treasury reference to the Customs Commissioners of the petition of Thomas Bellamy offering a discovery of a fraudulent trade carried on by a great number of merchants of London trading to France, Bordeaux and St. Sebastian, he having already made a large discovery of wine and brandy so traded between July and Feb. 1699 and hath recovered 480l. from Michaell Fallet and Stephen Creagh for French brandy entered as Spanish brandy. Treasury warrant to the Customs Commissioners to make no prosecution before Trinity term next on Customs bonds which became due on or after 1700 March 25 and which shall become due before the first day of said Trinity term next and meantime to receive the moneys on such bonds without interest and similarly to receive without interest the sum of 5,090l. 2s. 2½d. which was deposited on account of such bonds before Jan. 28 inst: but beyond the time hereby limited the merchants are not to expect any forbearance: all by reason that the Treasury Lords have heard several merchants of London on the subject of the Treasury warrant of Oct. 18 last supra p. 137, on which my Lords have determined that the said warrant shall stand in force as to all bonds due before the said March 25: but that the above prolongation of time without interest be allowed on bonds after that date as above. Jan. —. [The Treasury Lords] to Col. Codrington [Governor of the Leeward Islands]. The King has directed a privy seal to pass for 700l. per an. to you as Governor and Commander in Chief of the Leeward Islands; from the date of your commission. Upon the death of the late Col. Codrington the chief command of those islands (pursuant to the said late Colonel's commission) devolved upon the Lieutenant Governor and Council of the island of Nevis, whereby the moiety of the salary and perquisites of the Governor in Chief of the said [Leeward] Islands belongs to the said Lieut. Governor from the death of the said late Colonel until your arrival there. It is the King's pleasure that you satisfy to the said Lieut.
