Treasury warrant to the Customs Commissioners to admit to entry some tobacco belonging to several poor seamen of the port of Plymouth, Bideford and other places and of the Plantations beyond seas and seized at Plymouth, Milford, Bideford and Barnstaple as not being packed in either chests or cases in accordance with the Act of 10 Wm. III, c. 10: the said seized tobacco being appraised at only 7½d. per pound and there being little likelihood of recovering the penalty of 6d. per pound from the proprietors. Treasury subscription of a Lord Chamberlain's warrant dated Dec. 20 to the Earl of Montagu, [Master of the Great Wardrobe] to deliver to Henry Lowman, his Majesty's Housekeeper and Wardrobekeeper at Kensington, furniture, detailed, for the new closet next to the King's Little Bedchamber there, viz. 3 pieces of hangings; one window curtain of scarlet green rich mixed damask; one easy chair, 2 stools and a fire screen to be covered suitable, all trimmed with green silk and tufted fringes; the window curtain to draw up with a curved cornish and silk strings and tassels to it; the frames of the chair, stools and fire screen of walnut tree carved and cases of green taffeta for the chair, stools and fire screen; likewise 2 portiere curtains of the said damask lined with taffeta and trimmed with the like green fringes, to draw on each side with cornices suitable to them. Same of a same dated Nov. 21 to same to deliver to same furniture, detailed, for Dr. Bidloe's bedchamber, viz. a stuff bed and bedding, hangings, a midling glass, table, stands, 12 cane chairs; a table, bedstead and bedding for his servant. Ibid.
