Treasury subscription for the execution of a Lord Chamberlain's warrant dated March 31 last to the Master of the Great Wardrobe for the delivery to Peter Hume, Yeoman of the Removing Wardrobe, of particulars, detailed, for the funeral of the late King viz. a cushion of purple velvet with fringe and tassels of gold, an Imperial Crown of tin gilt with a cap of crimson velvet lined with ermine: 32 yards of diaper for 8 towels to carry the body; an armed chair and 2 chairs without arms covered with black and 3 black cloaks for the chief mourner and 2 supporters; a canopy of purple cloth to be carried over the body from the Bedchamber to the chariot at Kensington; 4 strong lyers as big as the grasp of a man's hand to be made of purple or black silk or thread each 3 yards long with bobbs to bear the King's body when it is to be let down in the vault. Treasury subscription for the execution of a Lord Chamberlain's warrant dated March 30 to the Master of the Great Wardrobe for the covering the floor of the Great Bedchamber at Kensington with purple cloth; a State [canopy] of black cloth to be set up in the Presence Chamber with an armed chair, a cushion and 2 stools suitable and a cloth of black under the State. April 8. Treasury reference to the Victualling Commissioners of the petition of Francis Herne, late of Cadiz merchant, shewing that in Jan. 1696–7 he furnished Admiral Nevill and Rear Admiral Mees' squadron with oil, wines &c. and had an order from Du[ke of] Albuquerk to ship same Customs free but was engaged to pay the Customs within 2 months provided the English Envoy at Madrid could not obtain from the King of Spain a permit for same; and as he did not obtain such shipment Mr. Harvey, Agent Victualler at Cadiz, drew a bill on the Victualling Commissioners London for the said Customs, being 257l. 5s. 8¼d.; but the said Commissioners refuse to pay the bill. [Before April 14]. Memorial to the Treasury Lords by Mr. Blathwayt shewing that in 1682 James, then Duke of York, granted to Mr. Penn by indenture the Lower Counties upon Delaware River in America under the yearly rent of a rose but with covenant to account for a moiety of the profits: that Mr. Penn having omitted to so account he was directed by a letter from the Treasury Lords of May 1701 [27 March 1701, Tr. Cal. XVI, pp. 235, 417] to return an accompt; to which he replied in Sept. last [1701] that he would wait on their Lordships in England and, as he presumed, to their satisfaction therein: that Mr. Penn is now come over from Pennsylvania: therefore praying that he may be directed to attend the Treasury Lords in order to give their Lordships an account of the said moiety.
