Treasury reference to the Customs Commissioners of the petition of the merchants of London in behalf of themselves and all the merchants of England concerning drawbacks on coffee and other commodities, "as well for the Subsidy as the Transport Duty" which [drawback debentures] the Customs Cashier refuses to pay on the ground that the said Duties are appropriated. Treasury reference to the Customs Commissioners of the petition of John Dutton Colt, late collector of Bristol port, shewing that he is prosecuted for 2272l. 3s. 5d. which his cashier Daniel Ballard had run out whilst petitioner was collector: and that he has discovered some of Ballard's effects "and being willing to pay immediately in part of what is owing on the said collection (which is 3166l. 3s. 5d.) the sum of 2000l. and the remainder next Michaelmas term" therefore prays stay of proceedings. Treasury reference to the Customs Commissioners of the petition of Sarah Groome widow shewing that since her husband's death she has paid over 10,000l. for Duties which he owed upon tobacco bonds and that only 72l. 16s. 8½d. remains on such bonds; for which [small balance] she is prosecuted: that same is due for tobacco sold to one Van Brusingham, a merchant in London, on which drawback is due to petitioner: therefore praying relief. Same to the Clerk of the Signet for a privy seal to discharge the executors of Sir Joseph Williamson of the 2533 ounces of white plate delivered to him out of the Jewel House 1675 March 27 as a Secretary of State: all on the petition of Lady Katherine O'Brien, his widow, representing the great sum of money due from Charles II to the said Williamson at the time of his death.
