Downing to Joseph Williamson to insert in the Gazette a notice, detailed, about the advantage of the Office of Exchanges in Great St. Helens, "where the money received by bills of exchange will remain deposited and not to be paid or employed for the King's service until the party have actually received his money in the country: which several persons have by experience found to be so practised having received back their money at the said office upon tender of their bills when they have not had occasion for their money in the country, the said office having since its erection returned 40,000l. and upwards [in this manner] to the great advantage of several traders who have experimented the proceedings of the Commissioners in that office."
