Aug. 2, forenoon. Windsor Castle. Present: ut supra.
[My Lord orders the] Commissioners of the Navy to give him an account of what has been saved to the Queen in any one or more years by dead men's pay for want of legal claimants.
[Write &] direct Mr. Borret & Mr. Baker [Treasury Solicitors] severally that as soon as any [Treasury] prosecutions shall be finally determined they do exhibit to my Lord a particular account of the charge of such prosecution [so] that the items thereof may be examined as my Lord Treasurer shall think fit.
The Auditors [of Imprests] are to attend at the Treasury in Whitehall on Wednesday forenoon the 18th inst.
[Write] Mr. Brewer to attend my Lord Treasurer at Windsor next Monday with an account of the money remaining in his hands and to whom the same is payable & what occasions the [existence of this] remain [of money in his hands] or his not passing his accounts.
[My Lord directs] 100l. to Mr. Flotard, out of Secret Service money: but he must sign an acquittance expressing that he will [not] trouble the Queen nor the Lord Treasurer with any further solicitations relating to his services.
[Likewise] 20l. to Morgan O'Brien: out of Secret Service money.
[My Lord orders] the 6 volumes of Rymer's 'Foedera' to be sent to Sir James Montague, her Majesty's Solicitor General. Treasury Minute Book XVI, p. 237.
Aug. 18, forenoon. Whitehall, Present: ut supra.
[My Lord directs the issue of] 14000l. to the Ordnance: for sea & land service: out of the next payment of the East India Company.

Aug. 20. afternoon. Present: Lord Treasurer, Chancellor of the Exchequer.
[My Lord directs the issue to William Lowndes: out of Civil List moneys: of] 500l. a week for 5 weeks: for Secret Services.
[Send to] Mr. Merrill to come hither tomorrow morning about the money ordered for the man who discovered the false musters.
[By the Queen's directions my Lord orders a privy seal for] 1000l. per an to Lady FitzHardinge: out of the Post Office revenue: during the joint lives of her Majesty & the said lady. Ibid., p. 239.
Aug. 30, Windsor Castle. Present: Lord Treasurer.
His Lordship agrees that if the Bank of England will advance to the Treasurer of the Ordnance the sum of 33500l. on the Land Tax tallies anno 1708 in his hands the same shall be repaid out of money which shall be brought into the Exchequer for the fifth payment to be made by the East India Company on or before the 12th January next & that the Bank shall be allowed interest at 5 per cent from the day of advancing money thereon to the time of their said repayment.
Sir Henry Furnese agrees to advance on the Land Tax tallies [anno 1708] in Mr. Howe's hands the sum of 31629l. 9. 10 ½: to be applied to the several uses as in his [the said Howe's] memorial [for the Guards & Garrisons as read this day].
[My Lord directs the issue of] 2016l. 10. 1 to Mr. Micklethwayte, Treasurer of the Transports: to be paid over by him as follows viz

Mr. Brydges is called in & his memorials [for money for the Forces abroad] are read & thereupon my Lord Treasurer directs the issue of 112336l. 5. 10 ½ out of funds as follows viz 41633l. 11. 5 ¾ out of Contributions on the second Act [6 Anne, c. 48] for sale of Annuities anno 1708; 43805l. 7. 6 ¾ out of the third payment to be made by the East India Company on or before Sept 11 next; 20000l. out of loans to be made by Sir Henry Furnese on malt anno 1708; 6897l. 6. 10 out of the fourth payment to be made by the East India Company on or before Nov 12 next: the total 112336l. 5. 10 ½ being to be applied to services as follows

My Lord Treasurer further directs 9375l. to said Brydges out of loans to be made by Sir Henry Furnese on the Half Subsidy & other Duties anno 1708: & is in part of the aforesaid 494869l. 8. 6 for subsidies to the Allies anno 1708 & is intended to be paid over to the King of Denmark for 3 months from June 15 last to Sept 15 next on his subsidy.
