Oct. 16. Money order for three years' interest to 1714 Dec. 25 on 17 Debentures for the sufferers in St. Christopher and Nevis, all ut supra, Calendar of Treasury Books, Vol. XXIX, p. 486, under date 1715 April 12: the present payment being for 40l. 12s. 11¼d. interest for 17 Debentures, not detailed: all as by the authority of the Act 9 Anne, c. 16, clause 88, which granted a sum of 103,003l. 11s. 4d. for distribution amongst the proprietors or inhabitants of Nevis and St. Christopher who suffered from the invasion of the French; and the Act 10 Anne, c. 41, which restricted the benefit thereof to proprietors &c., settled there before 25th December, 1711. William Lowndes to the Customs Commissioners to send to the Treasury Lords with all speed an account of the gross and nett produce for the year ended at Michaelmas 1718 of the [following] several branches of the revenue granted by 1 Geo. I., c. 1, for the better support of his Majesty's Household exclusive of all arrears incurred before 1715 Michaelmas, to wit: [on] the further Subsidy of Tonnage and Poundage and other Duties on wines, goods and merchandizes first granted by 9 Wm. William Lowndes to the Comptrollers of the Accounts of the Army to report on the enclosed three lists [missing] signed by the Deputy Governor of Gibraltar of the number of persons victualled in the Garrison there between June 16 last and August 10 last and his two certificates of the quantity of provisions laid into his Majesty's storehouse there by the Contractor on July 19 and Sept. 3 last. Treasury reference to the Auditor of the Receipt of the petition of Jaques Meyers shewing that Gerard Sohnius purchased certain reversions of annuities “for lives of Lord Ranelagh”; after which Meyers purchased the same of Sohnius: that on 21 Oct. 1699 Meyers lodged the reversions in the hands of Edward Browne, merchant, who being ignorant of the Act [11–12 Wm. III, c. 3] for laying further Duties on wrought silks &c. from the East Indies and for enlarging the time for purchasing certain Reversionary Annuities therein mentioned (which required the registering the assignments in the Exchequer) elapsed the time therein limited for doing the same: that the said Browne (a life being dropped) applied himself to the Exchequer to receive the interest due on the said annuity for the said Meyers; but the [Exchequer] officers refused payment thereof on account of such annuity not being registered: that no penalty is inflicted by the Act: [therefore praying a decision] whether by petitioning the Lords of the Treasury a clause for relief may be obtained in an Act of Parliament.
