Royal warrant to the Clerk of the Signet for a privy seal to the Attorney General to acknowledge satisfaction upon the record of the judgment for 500l. against George Montague as follows: viz.: By privy seal of 1662, Sept. 29, there was ordered 10,000l. to be paid to John Lawrence, esq., to be by him paid to such persons as the King should direct. By order dated 1677–8, Jan. 31, from the lato Treasurer Danby 1,456l. 1s. 4d. thereof was ordered to be paid to said Lawrence, viz., 330l. by tallies on Ellis Cooper, late Receiver of Hearthmoney, co. Yorks, and 1,126l. 1s. 4d. by tally on John Adderley, Receiver of the late Eighteen Months' Assessment, co. Derby; and thereupon said Lawrence gave an acquittance for both sums. By the royal sign manual of 1678–9, Jan. 29, the said Lawrence was permitted to retain to his own use the said 1,456l. 1s. 4d., it appearing by an accompt made up by Auditor Richard Aldworth and allowed by Treasurer Danby that the King was indebted to said Lawrence in that amount. Said Lawrence has since released to the King said debt. The said Adderley failed to pay the money on the tally struck on him and an extent was accordingly awarded against him directed to the sheriff of Middlesex, and thereupon it was found that George Montague was indebted to said Adderley in 500l. Said debt was seized by the sheriff and a scire facias awarded against Montague, whereupon issue was joined and a verdict given against him, which was afterwards affirmed on a writ of error. Said Montague is now willing to pay said 500l. to prevent execution, provided satisfaction be acknowledged upon the record of said judgment. At said Lawrence's request such acknowledgment is hereby ordered to be recorded. King's Warrant Book VIII, pp. 9–10.
Money warrant for 75l. to William Levett, esq., Receiver for cos. Oxford and Berks of the late Seventeen Months' Assessment, the Poll and the Eighteen Months' Assessment, as reward and in consideration of his charges in returning the moneys thereof to London. Same for 3,141l. 5s. 7d. to the Duke of Monmouth (upon the 8,000l. per an. for the Stables, as by the privy seal of 1676, March 31) and 1,500l. upon the 2,000l. per an. for providing horses for the King and Queen, both sums to be in full satisfaction of his demands for same, there being 4,000l. due at 1679, Sept. 29 (at which time said Duke was Master of the Horse) on said 8,000l. per an. and the said 2,000l. per an. having been paid to 1679, Lady day. Same for 5,083l. 9s. 4d. to William Hewer, Treasurer of Tangier garrison, as imprest for said garrison and the mole there, 4,414l. 9s. 7d. thereof being to complete 14,300l. for the quarter ended Dec. 30 last for said garrison, and the remaining 669l. 9s. 9d. to be in part of the succeeding quarter. July 21. Treasury warrant to the Customs Cashier to pay 37l. 10s. 0d. to Edward Bertie for three quarters to June 24 last on his salary as Collector of the duties on wool, tin, &c., London port. Money Book, p. 186.
Money warrant for 7,758l. to William Hewer, Treasurer for the affairs of Tangier, as in part of the 50,000l. by the privy seal of the 21st inst., supra, p. 628, for the present expedition designed for Tangier. Hereof 4,500l. is for buying horses in Spain, 200l. for a messenger to go express, 960l. for levy money, and the remainder for victualling on the new establishment. Same to the Chancellor of the Duchy [of Lancaster] giving him notice of a contract for the purchase of the following Duchy rents in the charge of the Receiver of Essex, Middlesex and Herts. Said contract is brought to the Treasury Lords for their warrant to the Trustees for Fee Farms to convey same to Baptist May, esq., viz.: a rent of 6l. 13s. 4d. [per an.] issuing out of the park of Pleshey; a ditto of 3l. 6s. 8d. [per an.] issuing out of the free chapel of Dunmow; a ditto of 2l. [per an.] issuing out of Claret Hall mill; a ditto of 3l. [per an.] issuing out of the demesnes of Enfield; a ditto of 3l. 4s. 3½d. per an. issuing out of Hertingfordbury wood; a ditto of 2l. 13s. 4d. per an. issuing out of a close called Gerards in Pleshey. Same to the Navy Commissioners. You have not sent to the Treasury Lords the account of the condition of the timber in Sherwood Forest as requested in mine of Feb. 17 last to you. Send it forthwith. Ibid, p. 48.
Henry Guy to the Customs Commissioners forwarding a paper of reasons against the importation of red saunders, same having been presented to the Treasury Lords by the Royal Africa Company. Call some of the said Company before you and report to my Lords hereon, and on the reference of the 16th inst. of Mr. Kemp and Mr. Hilby's petition for licence to import [from or via Holland] 100 tons hereof. Appending: said paper. Petitioners suggest that said [wood] is absolutely necessary for dyeing cloth. We suggest it is not absolutely necessary, being a counterfeit fading dye not used when the Book of Rates was made nor mentioned there[in], and therefore can only pay duty ad valorem, which is about 25l. per ton. The use of this commodity is much better supplied by Guinea redwood, which is plentifully imported by the Africa Company and pays 30s. per ton duty. The licence craved is contrary to the Act of Navigation. Two parcels of red saunders [wood] are now under seizure, one by Tho. Jones, the other by Tho. Rivers. These may probably be the goods of petitioners and intended to be imported fraudulently.
Treasury warrant to John Ramsey, Serjeant at Arms. By a great seal of July _ inst. Henry Slingsby has been suspended from his office of Master and Worker of the Mint, and same has been delivered to him for his obedience thereto. But there being three locks and keys belonging to the door of the room or office where the bullion is kept in the Mint in the Tower, said Slingsby has fastened the door with one lock and keeps the key in his own hands and refuses to deliver same, by which means the officers of the Mint are hindered from their duties. You are to repair to said office and in the presence of the Lieutenant of the Tower and Warder and other officers of the Mint, to take off the said lock and open said door. Thereupon John Buckworth, Charles Duncombe and James Hoare, Commissioners for executing said Slingsby's office, and the Warden of the Mint are to make a perfect inventory of all gold and silver and utensils in said room, and a duplicate thereof is to be sent to us, the Treasury Lords. Slingsby to have notice hereof to attend if he think fit. (The like warrant, dated July 23, for taking off the lock of the old blanching house, the new melting house, the press room where the farthings are coined, and the two empty Pix boxes at the Mint, and for the opening of same, &c., ut supra.) Same to Thomas Agar and Charles Strode to fell old decayed oaks and beeches in Dean Forest to the value of 210l. for the salaries of the keepers and other officers of said forest for the year 1679, and [a further] 40l. for the completing and finishing a Court-house over the market place in Coleford to hold a Justice seat in, and [further for] such further sum as shall be requisite for the making some further inclosures: it appearing from the return of a Commission lately executed in Dean Forest, and now remaining of record in the Exchequer Court, that several of the enclosures are grown past danger of browsing and may be thrown open, and that others of smaller quantity and content may very fitly be made in other parts of the forest where there are no ways or passages leading through, and that salaries as above for 1679 may be provided out of old timber in like manner as was appointed by the said Commission for 678. Said timber is to be delivered to the assignees of Alderman John Forth at the price of their present contract, yet unexpired. Account hereof is to be entered before the Auditor of the county. July 21. Treasury warrant to the Clerk of the Pipe for a lease to John Sayer, the King's master-cook, of the office of coroner and clerk of the market in the borough of Berkhampstead and the Hallimot [Court-house] adjoining, within the several parishes of Berkhampstead St. Peter and Berkhampstead St. Mary alias Noothchurch (Northchurch); all parcel of the Honor of Berkhampstead and of the Duchy of Cornwall, and hereby to be granted for 17 years from 1694, Lady day, at the rents of 40s. and 8l. per an. and a quarter of the profits of waifs, strays, &c., within the out manors holden of the Honor of Berkhampstead in cos. Northampton, Herts and Bucks, not excepting the manor of Berkhampstead itself, and also together with a grant of the said Court-house as below: Warrants not Relating to Money, pp. 239–43.
Prefixing: particulars (a) of said office of Coroner, &c., as demised to John Allen by patent dated 1663–4, March 1, for 31 years from 1663, March 25, at 20s. per an. rent and 20s. per an. de incremento: and (b) of the certainties and fines of the free tenants and the waifs, strays, &c., of the said Honor (except the manor of Berkhampstead) as granted to the said Allen by said patent, together with the office of bailiff of the Honor and manor of Berkhampstead at a rent of 8l. per an. and of a quarter of the receipts from the premises: for 31 years of which 17 are expired at Lady day, 1694; in which said grant [to Allen] the King doth "give, grant and firmly command that all the tenants and other persons, inhabitants within the town and borough aforesaid from time to time, shall be discharged, acquitted and kept indemnified from all tolls, tallages and other customs whatsoever within the Kingdom of England, except for Pontage or the high ways". the abovesaid exception of the manor of Berkhampstead out of this grant to said Allen being in accordance with the precedent of a former grant made to Jon. Edwards, when the premises were severed into two parts, the one to the bailiff and burgesses of Berkhampstead and the other afterwards to said Edwards, which grants are both long since determined. (c) Ratal, dated 1680, July 5, by William Harbord. Surveyor General, of said particulars. In regard the premises are now united and pass together, it can be no prejudice to the King to leave out the abovesaid exception of the manor. In the present new lease there is a special grant to be passed to Sayer of the old Court-house adjoining the churchyard of Berkhampstead St. Peter, with all outhouses, yards, gardens, orchards and appurtenances for 31 years from 1680, March 25, at a peppercorn rent, if demanded, the better to preserve the King's right and title thereto, which lessee is to defend at his own cost.
July 22. Privy seal for an annuity or pension of 100l. per an. to Elizabeth Martin, relict of Samuel Martyn, esq., deceased, late Consul at Algiers, in consideration of the good service performed by him at Algiers, and in lieu of all demands which might be made for his extraordinary expenses or disbursements in the said service: to be paid quarterly, during pleasure and without account: the first payment to be made at Michaelmas next. July 22. Treasury warrant to William Hewer [Treasurer of the affairs of Tangier], to pay 960l. to Lieut.-Col. Percy Kirke, for advance money to be given to the Captains of the 16 Companies of Foot which are now to be raised for the service of Tangier; the Commissioners for the Affairs of Tangier having informed the Treasury Lords that such advance money to be given to the Captains that will give security or bonds to the Col. for levying 60 soldiers each is 60l. for each Company, "and having also represented this to us to give despatch herein." Said item is to be hereby allowed on said Hewer's account of the extraordinaries of the present expedition intended for Tangier. Money Book, p. 187.

The like for 37l. to John Hartop as same for co. Leicester of the late Seventeen Months' Tax, Poll and Eighteen Months' Tax. (Two money orders dated June 29 hereon. Hartop's money order gives the sum as 30l.)
Treasury warrant to the Customs Commissioners to deliver to Thomas Skinner, Customs free, 5 petticoats of several colours, 3 doz. of glass gloves and a piece of large prisonniere belonging to the Duchess of York, and an embroidered gown sent as a present to the Lady Anne, same being now in the King's warehouse, London port. Out Letters (Customs), p. 250.
Same to Sir Jon. Osborne, bart., Treasurer's Remembrancer, and to Sir Robert Croke, Clerk of the Pipe, to make records of surplusage in the usual manner for Sir Richd. How and Sir Jon. Chapman, late sheriffs of London, so as to charge their surplusage (due to their great expenditure on removals and trials of prisoners and traitors, &c.) upon the debts of any [other] accompting sheriff without any charge to the said How and Chapman: said late sheriffs having petitioned the Treasury Lords concerning their said expenditure, representing "that they have been directed to pay unto divers persons several sums of money for removing many prisoners from Newgate to several country gaols in order to their trials there and have expended great sums of money at several sessions of Oyer and Terminer and Gaol Delivery particularly appointed by his Majesty's several special commissions for trial of the several traitors lately convicted and executed, whereby their disbursements upon the King's account far exceeds the profit of their bailiwick for which they are accomptable to his Majesty": petitioners affirming that the like favour in the like case was formerly allowed to Sir William Rawstorne and Sir Tho. Beckford, late sheriffs of Middlesex, and also to others upon like occasions. Warrants not Relating to Money, p. 244.
July 22. Treasury warrant to the Customs Commissioners to discharge the extra one per cent. duty on the lading of the ship Britannia of London on the petition of James Houblon and other interested therein: the said ship having arrived from the Mediterranean beyond Malaga with less than the 2 men per gun of 16 guns as prescribed by the Act of Frauds of 14 Car. II., but having gone out regularly manned, but 2 died and 4 deserted and could not be replaced by English sailors: the said Act of 14 Car. II for preventing frauds having provided that if any person shall import from the Mediterranean sea beyond Malaga in any ship or vessel that hath not 2 decks and doth carry less than 16 pieces of ordnance with 2 men to each gun and other ammunition proportionable he shall pay for the goods imported 1 per cent. over and above the subsidy of Tunnage and Poundage. Same to the Auditors of Imprests to attend the Chancellor of the Exchequer with the enclosed interest account of Mr. Seymour, Treasurer of the Navy. Ibid.
Same to Mr. Dering for an account how much is the debt remaining undischarged of Sir William Doyley, the late Teller, deceased, how much thereof is in fictitious payments and how much in money, and if there be any fictitious payments then upon what funds they were made and why the same are not discharged: all by reason that Sir Edmund Bacon and other sureties of said Doyley have petitioned for stay of process against them till the debt owing by said Doyley be ascertained. Same to Mr. Bridall. Send to the Treasury Lords more particular certificates than you brought to-day of all his Majesty's plate. Distinguish what part is in use, and what not, and in what service any of it is employed at present. Ibid, p. 51.
[Same] to Mr. Johnson to advance to Robt. Gargrave 397l. 10s. 0d. due to him for 150 loads of hay by him provided and sent to Tangier for the 120 horse which were drawn out of the three troops of Guards and the Earl of Oxford's regiment for the service of Tangier, and for the charges [as below] upon the same [hay]. Same shall be repaid you by deduction from the pay of the said soldiers, or in case of failure thereof, by a royal warrant for allowance of same as a contingent ("by allowing the same or any part thereof upon the account of contingencies [in your next yearly account as Paymaster of the Guards, Garrisons and contingencies thereof] for the regular doing whereof you are to have his Majesty's warrant"). July 23. Treasury reference to the Customs Commissioners of the petition of Small. Danvers, praying 104l. due to him for two years' salary during his suspension. Reference Book I, p. 122
Same to Sir Richd. Mason, Bartholomew Fillingham and Jon Ramsey [Agents for Taxes] of John Bagnall's petition for an allowance for his great expense in collections and returns of moneys as Receiver of the Poll, the Seventeen Months' Tax and the Eighteen Months' Tax for co. Derby, he having answered all his moneys arising thereby, save 224l. 12s. 9d. which he is ready to pay. Ibid, p. 125.
July 23. Treasury reference to Sir Richd. Mason, Bartholomew Fillingham and Jon. Ramsey of the like petition of John Newtham [Newsham] for like allowance as Receiver General of Taxes for co. Warwick, and for allowance of his super of 2l. 1s. 6d. on the account of the Seventeen Months' Tax and of his super of 32l. 3s. 9d. on the account of the Poll; he having paid in all the moneys of the Eighteen Months' Tax, save about 137l. Reference Book I, p. 126.
[Henry Guy to the Auditor of the Receipt to issue as follows] out of Mr. Kirwood's loan of 8,800l. on which issues to the amount of 6,421l. 17s. 1d were directed June 28 last: viz., 100l. to Levet, 375l. to [me] Guy [for secret service], 200l. to Alporte, 840l. in part of the list of 1,291l. 13s. 9d. directed on July 9 last, supra, p. 619 (deducting 451l. 13s. 9d. therefrom for the serjeants), 166l. 13s. 4d. for the Grooms and Pages to the King and Queen, 75l. to be reserved for Mr. Guy, which was paid [by him as follows], viz., 50l. to Lloyd and Jones, and 25l. to Stephens: making a total of 8,178l. 10s. 5d., thus leaving a remain of 643l. 4s. 7d. in the Exchequer out of said loan of 8,800l. Same to the Auditor [of Crown Revenues] of co. Cornwall. The Treasury Lords notice that you continue to direct payments to be made to several persons upon dormant warrants of the late Lord Treasurer or late Treasury Lords without [first obtaining] the approbation of the present Lords. You are to forbear to give such direction for the future unless you have my Lords' special order, and you are forthwith to certify my Lords of all [fixed county charges and] pensions settled upon the revenue in charge before you. The like letter to the Auditor for Wales.
Same to the Ordnance Commissioners. Sir George Wharton has received 388l. 11s. 4d. at the Exchequer for one year's interest to the 4th inst. upon the two orders registered on the last Disbanding Act for 517l. 4s. 11d. and 4,340l. and numbered respectively 918 and 981 which said orders were assigned to Wharton by Capt. Williams. You are to give order to said Wharton to pay said 388l. 11s. 4d. to Sir Tho. Fitch in part of his consideration money for carrying on the fortifications at Portsmouth. Ibid, p. 52.
Same to same to give like order to said Wharton to pay to said Fitch for fortifications "there" [in the isle of Guernsey] the 700l. which is in said Wharton's hands for the service of Guernsey. Ibid.
Same to the Clerk of the Crown in the King's Bench to send forthwith to the Treasury Lords the returns of all Popish Recusants sent into said Court in Easter and Trinity terms was twelve months for the counties of Dorset, Devon, Somerset and Cornwall. Ibid.
July 24. Money order for 5,200l. to Richard Kent and Charles Duncombe in repayment of the like sum by them lent into the Exchequer this day: together with 6 per cent. interest and 4 per cent. reward. Order Book XXXVIII, p. 148.
July 27. Treasury warrant dormant to the Receipt for tallies of pro on the Excise for the annual rent or sum of 561l. 6s. 6d. to Sir John Shaw as by the patent of 1678–9, March 18, granting same to him as payable quarterly out of the Hereditary Excise. Money Book, p. 175.
Money warrant for 1,580l. to William Hewer as imprest for the present expedition designed for Tangier, and in part of the 50,000l. therefor as by the privy seal of the 21st inst., supra, p. 628. To be paid out of the loans made into the Exchequer this day by Richard Kent and Charles Duncombe. Of said sum 1,000l. is for providing clothes for the soldiers of the 16 companies of the Earl of Plymouth's Regiment now raising for said expedition; 500l. for subsistence money for said soldiers; and 80l. for advance money for levying 5 men which the King has directed to be added to each of the said 16 companies. Treasury warrant to said Hewer to pay to Lieut.-Col. Percy Kirk the above said 80l. for the advance money to the abovesaid additional 5 men per company. Money Book, pp. 191, 193.
The like for payment of 1,000l. to said Kirk for clothes for the soldiers of said 16 companies, the said money being intended to be hereafter made good again to the King by deduction out of the said soldiers' pay.
Money warrant for 150l. to Sir Samuel Morland for last June 24 quarter on his annuities. Ibid, p. 192.
Treasury warrant to William Roberts, Receiver of the moneys for rebuilding and repairing Windsor Castle, to pay 100l. to Signor Antonio Verrio for half a year to June 24 last, on his allowance of 200l. per an. (as by the sign manual of May 5 last), he being employed to paint ceilings in Windsor Castle. And for the future to continue the same payment half yearly as it shall grow due. Ibid.
Record of surplusage in the form of a Treasury warrant to the Clerk of the Pipe for the sum of 18l. 4s. 2d. standing in surplusage upon the foot of the account of William Kemeis, esq., as sheriff of Monmouth, for the year 1678, to be satisfied out of any moneys due to the King upon the debit of any accompting sheriff. Treasury warrant to Henry Ayloffe, the King's Remembrancer, to forbear process against Jon Randall, Receiver General for co. Dorset, of the Royal and Additional Aid and the One Month's and the Eleven Months' Tax, on his debt to the King of 310l. 6s. 7½d. on the foot of that account: "which said sum the said Mr. Randall advanced and paid for his Majesty's service, although the same doth, upon the said account, remain a debt upon him." Ibid.

Petitioner sets forth that he was made a trustee by Algernoon and Jocelin Percy, late Earls of Northumberland, of their estates, in order to their more speedy payment of debts: that the present King granted to the Duke of Monmouth and his heirs the honors and manors that were supposed to return to the Crown from the Percies, by reason of which grant great disturbances arose of the possession of the said manors and lands: that for quieting contests and differences an agreement was made and a conveyance executed to petitioner from the Duke of Monmouth of all the honors, manors, etc., so granted as above; that hereupon petitioner applied to the Auditor for co. Yorks for payment of a rent of 80l. per an. payable for several manors there, but is put off with frivolous pretences. Therefore prays that said rent being duly paid into the Exchequer may with the arrears thereof be answered to petitioner in such manner as formerly paid. Ibid, p. 129.

Privy seal to the Treasury Lords for the felling of timber as follows for the garrison of Portsmouth, the King being given to understand "that it would very much conduce to the benefit and welfare of our garrison of Portsmouth to have a convenient hospital erected for the accommodation of sick men of the said garrison from time to time and that our chapel at Gods-house and the Alarm Gallery there are in a ruinous condition and necessary to be repaired." Therefore the Treasury Lords are to give warrant to Edward Noell, Warden of New Forest, Sir Thomas Badd, kt. and bart., Sir Richard Beach, kt., Richard Norton, Lawrence Hyde, of Catherington, co. Southants, Thomas Agar and Charles Strode, Surveyors of Woods Trent South, Francis Dickens, Woodward of New Forest, Edward Lee and Daniel Fuzzard to fell dotard timber in New Forest to the value of 1,500l. where same can be best spared with regard to the vert and venison, and not being ship timber. The trees of which the bark is little value are to be felled in this next winter and the other in the spring as soon as the bark will run. The proceeds of the sale of said timber and its offal are to be paid into the Exchequer and to be accounted for by said Agar and Strode before the Auditor for co. Southants and to this end the herein prescribed warrant is to be entered in the Court book at Lindhurst. Such moneys so paid in (not exceeding 1,500l.) are to be kept distinct in the Exchequer and issued to Sir George Wharton, Paymaster of the Ordnance, for the building of the said hospital and the repairs at Gods-house and the Alarm Gallery as above. Treasury warrant to the Customs Cashier to pay to William Bellamy 169l. 8s. 9d. paid to Mr. Duncomb and Company for interest upon notes remaining in Mr. Bertie's hands after the King's debt was satisfied, and 159l. 4s. 11d. which ought by law to be allowed to said Bellamy as rebate upon said bonds: the said Bellamy having been about 1678, April 9, indebted to the King 8,195l. 4s. 1d. by bonds for new impost and additional duty [or wine bonds] of which sum 7,790l. 1s. 6d. were bonds not then due; but he withdrawing himself immediate process of extent was issued against him; thereupon Bellamy applied to Treasurer Danby and under an agreement which is alleged to have been made for the present payment of said debt with a rebate of interest more than is given by law said Bellamy deposited in the hands of Charles Bertie [bank] notes of Charles Duncomb and Company for 4,453l. 9s. 2½d. payable by them on demand and Sir Nathaniel Herne did undertake to make good the residue of the said debt; nevertheless the King's debt was levied on the said Bellamy's estate by extent and thereupon there was paid to the Customs Cashier the 11th of June following [? 1678] 8,000l., and before the 3rd July following the remaining 195l. 4s. 1d. was also paid for the King's use: further, by certificate of Mr. Dpy. Canham and others, it is attested that the said notes of Mr. Duncombe and Co. were not returned from Mr. Bertie, though frequently desired, till Sept. 1? following, during all which time Bellamy swears he paid interest on them at 6 per cent., amounting to 160l. 8s. 9d.: further, no consideration was had for the time allowed by the law for the payment of the money on the said bonds which is allowed to all merchants and ought forthwith to be paid him, same being 149l. 4s. 11d. for 10 per cent. on 7,790l. which was the value of the bonds not due, viz. from June 11 (at which time the King's debt was satisfied) to the respective times said bonds became due. Royal sign manual to the Treasury Lords to pay out of the 10,000l. dormant privy seal of May 19 last 338l. 10s. 0d. to Sir Allen Apsley without account: taking care at the same time to cancel the royal sign manual of 1675–6, Feb. 28, which directed Treasurer Danby to pay the like sum to said Apsley for his fees and allowances as Master of the Hawks, ut supra, Cal. Treasury Books, Vol. V, p. 139, no part of which sum has been paid him or can now be paid him by virtue of the said warrant: the King being disposed to make his former intention in this behalf effectual to said Apsley. II, and the present Six Months' Assessment, all in London, Middlesex and Westminster: same to be paid out of such money as shall hereafter be brought into the Exchequer of the reserved rent on the lease or farm of the Hearthmoney granted to Abraham Anselme (since deceased), John Perry and Edward Buckley, which farm is lately expired and the rent thereof not yet fully paid off and cleared. Royal warrant to the Treasury Lords to give warrant to Thomas Agar and Charles Strode, Surveyors of Woods Trent South, to fell dotard timber to the value of 150l. in Wychwood Forest, co. Oxford, same to be taken with regard to the vert and venison and to be timber not fit for shipbuilding: and after sale of same to pay the proceeds to Richard Legge, ranger of said forest, in satisfaction of all charges by him expended in the repair and support of the chief lodge within said forest. L[awrence] Hyde to Sir Robert Howard, Auditor of the Receipt, and Mr. Wardour, Clerk of the Pells. There is a difference between Mr. Duncomb and some of you as to the fees for the 3,400l. which he is to receive this morning out of the Exchequer upon an order of 18,000l. out of the tax.
