Feb. 22.
Royal letters patent of appointment of Francis Vassall, esq., as a Serjeant at Arms loco John Palmer, deceased: to hold during pleasure and with the fee of 3s. a day and 2s. 6d. a day for diet or board wages. King's Warrant Book IX, p. 309.
Feb. 25. Thirteen separate money orders for 1,000l. each and one for 1,599l. 15s. 2d. to Sir John James and partners in part of 29,099l. 15s. 2d. due to them (that is to say 700l. 10s. 7¼d. for the balance of the principal account of the New Raised Forces and the remaining 28,399l. 4s. 6¾d. for interest and gratuity made up to 1682, June 24, as by an account thereof stated by the Auditors of Imprests and allowed by the Treasury Lords 1683–4, Feb. 1): as by the privy seal of 1683, June 6, on which 1,500l. has been already paid: (evidently separate orders for 1,000l. each and issued at different intervals down to the present date, but all given fictitiously the same date of Feb. 25.
