1710 Classified (Part II), Undated, &c.

Dec. 1. Debtor and creditor account of fees received by the officers in the Treasury, made out monthly from Jan. to Dec. 1710.
Dec. 2. A parcel of original letters from the Comrs of the Navy to the Treasurer of the Navy, and some to Mr Lowndes, mostly applying to the Treasury for money to carry out the demands of their office. Many of them enclose estimates for building ships, as well as other estimates, and many of them have notes of the page where they are entered [in a letter book]. Dated between April and Dec. 1710.

3. Account of beer brought of pursers of H.M. ships of war between 1707–8 and 1709–10. by Jeremiah Kelley, brewer, of Deal. 1 page.
4. Four papers as to Stamp duties. One is headed:—“A proposall to increase the revenue of the Stamp Office. There are published every weekly (sic) about forty-four thousand newspapers.” The names of the papers were:—Daily Courant, London Post, English Post, London Gazette, Postman, Post Boy, Flying Post, Review, and Observator. 6 pages.
5. “A list of the severall regiments, troops, and companies under her Majesties pay that were in the late actions in Germany, with the computation of their pay for three months or 90 days.” Signed, “H. St. John.” 3 pages.
6. “Reasons for some amendments to the coinage bill.” A paper in Sir Isaac Newton's hand, relating principally to the affairs of the mint in Scotland. Undated, but it is for the amendment of the Coinage Act of 7 Anne. 1 page.
7. “His Catholic Majesties accompt 1710.” A paper so docquetted, containing payments in connection with the army. 2 pages.
8. Papers touching bills and cash transactions of Mr Mead, chiefly with Mr Brydges, charges of the war in Spain and Portugal, sums voted by Parliament in connection with the army, &c. In or about the year 1710.
