Prayers.

THE ordinary Prayers said by the Clerk, absente Prolocutore.

Message from the King - Recusants, &c.

Mr. Speaker interposeth a Message from the King: But, before he uttered it, moved, that all of the House, Lawyers and others, might be sent for: Which was done accordingly [b]. -

[c] 8,000 Parish-churches : 5,000 good Livings.

Not 2,000 preaching resident Ministers.

Not One-thousand preaches once a Month, . Not 500 single-beneficed.

300 deprived, suspended, or silenced.

400 Jesuits and Seminaries : 40 simple People converted in a Year by a Jesuit.

300 convicted Recusants in a Shire, at the Queen's Death; now 800 in a Shire.

Mr. Alford: - That the Petition might be put to Question.

Sir Rob. Wingfield: - That it may sleep.

Mr. Duncombe -

King's noticing Proceedings.

Mr. Martin: - That it may be conceived, and set down, so as we may go home with Joy, that his Majesty hath no Meaning to infringe our Privilege, by any Message; but, that we should enjoy them with all Freedom.

King's Letter.

Sir Francis Hastings maketh Report of the Travel of the Committees, in the Point of the King's Letter for hostile Laws, directed to Mr. Speaker, under the King's Hand. - The Committees thought it fit not to be entered: And so ordered by the House.
