Leave to a Prisoner to have Liberty.

Mr. Speaker moveth, that Bateman, being in the Cus tody of the Serjeant of the House, in regard he was an Attorney at Law, might have Leave, for Two or Three Days, to dispatch his Clients Business; yielding this Reason for his Motion; that, though Bateman were a contemptuous Offender, yet he presumed, they would not think it reasonable to punish other Men for his Fault.

Upon this Reason, the House was content to give Leave ; and, upon Question, ordered, that the Serjeant's Man should attend him as a Prisoner.
