Evils, Causes and Remedies.

Committee, for Evils, Causes, and Remedies, to sit upon Tuesday next, in the House.

Subsidy.

The Preamble to the Subsidy tendered by Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer, and read ; and then the Bill of Subsidy tendered by Sir Jo. Finch.

Grievances.

The Committee for penning the Grievances, to meet upon Tuesday next, in the Court of Wards: And the Committee hath Power to send for the Commissioners, or Collectors, about the Licensing of the Selling of Wines.

Conference.

Resolved, The House presently to be turned into a grand Committee, to consider, whether fit to desire a Conference with the Lords ; and, if that shall be resolved, then, upon what Heads that Conference shall be.

Mountagew's Book.

The Committee to prepare the Business to be left with the Lords, about Mr. Mountagew, to meet upon Monday next, in the Afternoon, Mr. Noy, Mr. Glanvyle, Mr. Littleton, Mr. Selden, Mr. Wyld, added to the Committee.

Leave of Absence.

Sir Mountagew Bartye desiring Leave to go to his Company in the Low Countries, it was not yielded.

Exception to a Member's Words.

Mr. Herberte reporteth from the grand Committee, some Words used by Mr. More, or Words to that Sense and Effect, " That we were born free, and must continue free, if the King would keep his Kingdom:" And his Discourse, upon Supposition, what a Tyrant may do, or not do, within this Kingdom, adding these Words : " As, Thanks be to God, we have no Occasion, we having a just and pious King."

Mr. More heard to explain himself, and then withdrew.

Mr. More, by all, which spake (which were many) cleared from any ill Intention in speaking his Words.

Member committed.

Upon Question, Mr. More to be sent to the Tower, during the Pleasure of the House, for his Offence in speaking the Words now reported. Which Judgment Mr. Speaker accordingly pronounced to him, kneeling at the Bar.

Resolved, For the present, to proceed no further in punishing him.
