Presently upon the third Reading of this Bill, came down from the Lords, Sir John Crook and Mr. D. Hone, and brought with them a Bill, intituled, An Act for the Establishment and Assurance of divers of the Possessions and Hereditaments of Ferdinando late Earl of Darby. -

Jesuits, &c.

Moved by Sir John Heigham, that a special Committee might be named; 1. To consider of the Frame of a Petition to be exhibited to his Majesty, for the better Execution of Laws in Force against Jesuits, Seminary Priests, Recusants, &c. 2. Of some Course to be taken, touching Non-residence, and Pluralities of Benefices; as also touching the more free Preaching of the Gospel.

The Motion was well liked; and to that Service were presently named, and appointed, all the Privy Council, being Members of the House, Sir John Heigham, Sir Geo. St. Poll, Mr. Solicitor, Sir Valentyne Knightley, Sir Antho. Cope, Sir Henry Nevill, Sir Edw.
