L. 1. AN Act for the Reversing of a Decree made in Chancery, at the Suit of Wm. Every, Complainant, against Henry Rosewell Esquire, Defendant, for and concerning the Manor of Stapleton, in the County of Somersett.

Mr. Connocke moveth, the Burgesses returned for Stockbridge, may come in to the House.

Sheriff of Southampton, &c.

Mr. Beecher. - That Sir H. Wallopp, while he sat as a Burgess here, preferred a Bill against the Sheriff of Southampton, and Two Members of this House, returned Knights for that County. That this Bill of Eighty Sheets of Paper, withdrawn by him, and a new put in against the Sheriff, and divers of these Gentlemen's Servants.

Sir Roger Owen reporteth the Proceedings -

Moses' second Stroke got forth some Water - To follow this Matter with hue and cry. -

1. Question between the Committees, Whether to take any Advantage of that Sir Edw. Hobby spake : And resolved by the Committee, No.

2. Whether to vary from the Words.

3. Resolved, no further Proof can be, than that we have offered them.

Naturalization of Sir Francis Steward, - on Friday Afternoon, in the Committee Chamber.

Usury.

Sir Rich. Willyamson tendereth a Bill against Usury, and Scrivener Brokers. - That it hath as many Friends, and Enemies. - This Bill reduceth Interest from 10. to 8l. per Cent, and Brokeridge to 2d. a Pound, for a Year. -

That this Usury maketh many leave Merchandize, where 100l. bringeth more Profit to the King, than 100,000l. at Interest; hindereth the King in his Subsidies; is a great Scandal to our Religion; taketh away a principal Part of Liberality; hath filled full the Prisons ; enhaunceth all the Commodities of the Kingdom; abaseth the Price of Lands.

Alehouse-keepers.

L. 2. An Act for the better Execution of Two other Statutes made against Alehouse-keepers, sithence the Beginning of his Majesty's most happy Reign. -

Sir Edw. Mountague moveth, that in all other Statutes where the Penalty goeth to the Poor, may Part of it be allotted to the Informer.

Mr. Drake moveth, One Man in every Town may be appointed to take care of the Abuses in Alehouses; and that he may have Part of the Forfeiture. -
