Reward to Tendering.

Mr. Pymme moveth from the Committee for Religion, that Tendering, one that hath taken great Pains in Discovery of Papists, might have 10l. out of the Money given at the Communion: But this the House refused, being before given to the Poor; but left to be helped some other Way.

Apparel.

Mr. Noy reporteth the Bill of Apparel - That the Gold wire-drawers, &c. have a further Time given them, viz. till March come-twelvemonth; and Liberty given to Strangers, born out of the King's Dominion, to wear them.

Grievances.

Mr. Whitby further reporteth the particular Imposition upon Currants. - 12ly.

Mr. Noy: - Not to petition for Remove of this, as directed by the Committee : - Not because the Cause for it not good ; for that will imply, that, if the Cause be good, it may be set without common Consent in Parliament: Nor because it is of too high, a Proportion; because that implieth, a lesser Proportion may be taken without Assent in Parliament.

Upon Question, this Imposition upon Currants to be particularly presented to his Majesty, as a Grievance. -

13ly, The Abuses of the Deputy Alneager: 1. Extending it to Stockings, Waistcoats, &c. 2ly, Selling the Seals by Bushels; taking 1d. where should have been but ob. Maketh but a Fee Farm yearly Rent thereof in Cities and Boroughs ; never looking to the Abuse, for which the Office appointed. No Reformation hereof, notwithstanding the King's Answer. The Committee thought, a Bill fittest to regulate this

Upon Question, the Abuses in the Alneager to be presented, as a Grievance, to his Majesty.

And Mr. Rolles, Mr. Noy, Mr. Herberte, Mr. Mallett, Mr. Cope, Mr. Bateman, Sir M. Abbott, Mr. Tichborne, Mr. Whitby, Sir Nath. Rich, Mr. Browne, Mr. Rich. Spencer, to draw a Bill to regulate this : And the same Committee to consider of all the Laws, concerning this, and how they may be reduced into One Law : - To meet, and perfect this, this Vacation, and present it at the next Access : And any of this House, that will, may be present, and inform them.

Motion being made, whether a Message should be sent to the Lords, to let them know, we intend now to adjourn; Resolved, after much Debate, Not to do it.

Grievances.

14. The Grievance of Purveyance : Sending Forty or Fifty Miles for Provisions. In Poultry great Abuses. Purveyance for Hawks, new. - Andr. Pickherne's Patent, dated 1o Caroli. - Pigeons, 6d. a Dozen; Hens, 2d, a-piece. - Dangerous, in Point of Precedent, for a set Price under the Great Seal. Sir Tho. Mounson the first ever had such a Commission, but never executed it; Sir A. Pell the first that ever put in Execution.

Upon Question, this Patent a Grievance, both in the Creation, and Execution.

15. Proclamations for Lent; for Butchers, &c. to be bound by Recognizances, against Killing and Dressing of Flesh; with 2s. 6d. Fee to the Clerk of the Peace, for every one. - The being bound to observe any Law, very mischievous. That the Proclamation may extend as well to bind Men in Recognizances from eating, as well as from dressing, Flesh. This held by the Committee a great Grievance.

Upon Question, this a great Grievance, and so to be presented to his Majesty.- -

16. Gregge's Patent, for Examination of all Witnesses within the County Palatine of Chester, as well by Commission, as otherwise; both for Examination, Writing and Copying of them. This thus granted to Edward Gregg, for his Life; and after to Ro. Gregg, his Son, for Life.

Upon Question, this Patent a Grievance, both in the Creation, and Execution ; in the Parts of it now reported, a Grievance; and so to be presented to his Majesty. -

17. Abuses of Dr. Anyon in causing Dr. Alleyn to be arrested ; with Charge to arrest him on the Sabaoth Day ; and so ..... which done accordingly : And a Warrant to deduct, out of Dr. Barkrofte and . . . Exhibition, his own Charges, expended at his Attendance in Parliament.

- That the Committee thought, this to trench much to the Contempt and Breach of the Privileges of this House.

A Warrant to bring him, and Benjamin Ellyott, to attend the Committee of Grievances Friday sevennight.

Motion being made, to present the Patent for making Salt; Mr. Moore, for his Part; Sir Nath. Rich, for the Earl of Warwick's Part; Mr. Mallett for Mr. Packer; Mr. Trombold, for himself; are willing, this Patent shall be annihilated.

Agreed by Mr. More, that, in the Beginning of the Term, a Disclaimer shall be entered upon the Quo Warranto, depending in the King's Bench.

Upon Question, a select Committee to pen, and order, and marshal the Grievances, now reported, and ordered to be presented to his Majesty ; and to make
