Hertford Writ.

THE Clerk of the Crown brought in the Writ for Hertford; and he directed to keep the same in his Custody, till the further Pleasure of the House known, and not to deliver it to any.

A Warrant, under Mr. Speaker's Hand, for a Super-sedeas, to discharge this Writ; and for a new Writ.

General Committees.

Those which had the Chair, the last Session of Parliament, in general Committees, of Religion, Courts of Justice, and Trade, and in the Committee for Privileges, be continued.

Chairman of Committees.

In respect of Sir Edw. Coke's great Age, and Absence, moved, that another may be named for the Chair for the Committee for Grievances: And Mr. Littleton was named; but, in respect he was now absent, the Resolution respited, till . ... be heard to speak in it for himself.

Sir Nath. Rich excused, in respect of his Disability of Body, from the Chair for Courts of Justice : Divers named; but the Resolution deferred, till the House fuller.

Person sent for.

Ordered, upon Question, That . . Levett, that hath peremptorily exercised a Patent, here condemned the last Session, for takingTolls at certain Bridges in Yorkeshyre, shall be sent for by the Serjeant at Arms attendant upon this House.

Entry of Petition of Right.

The Committee, appointed for Search about the Entry of the Petition of Right in the Courts at Westmynster, to meet at Two Clock this Afternoon, in the Exchequer Chamber.

Message from the King, to defer Debate.

A Message from his Majesty, by Mr. Secretary Cooke, for Forbearance of any further Debate about his Officers Seizure of Merchants Goods, till after To-morrow, Two Clock ; at which Time his Majesty intendeth to speak to both Houses, in the Banqueting- house at Whytehall.
