Prayers.

Abuses in the Mint.

RESOLVED, That a Committee be appointed to inspect the Mint at the Tower of London, during this Sessions; and to report their Proceedings and Observations once a Week to the House.

And it is referred to Mr. Colt, Sir Sam. Barnardiston, Lord Pawlett, Sir Henry Hobart, Mr. Pitts, Sir Robert Cotton, Mr. Pierpoint, Sir Wm. Cooper, Sir Henry Colt, Mr. Vincent, Sir Gerv. Elwes, Mr. Moore, Mr. Whitaker, Mr. Bridges, Mr. Baldwyn, Sir John Elwill; or any Five of them.

Debts of Goldsmiths.

Ordered, That Leave be given to bring in a Bill for the better enforcing Goldsmiths, and others, who receive Money payable upon Demand, to pay their Debts; and likewise for the better Discovery of their Effects: And that Mr. Colt, Mr. Whitaker, Sir Hen. Hobart, Mr. Harcourt, do prepare, and bring in, the Bill.

Greibe's Complaint.

Ordered, That the Petition of Mary Greibe, presented to the House Yesterday, be taken into Consideration upon Tuesday Morning next, at Eleven a Clock.

Ways and Means.

The House, according to the Order of the Day, resolved itself into a Committee of the whole House, to consider of Ways and Means for raising the Supply granted to his Majesty, for carrying on the War against France, for the Service of the Year 1697.

Mr. Speaker left the Chair.

Sir Thomas Littleton took the Chair of the Committee.

Mr. Speaker resumed the Chair.

Sir Thomas Littleton reported from the said Committee, That they had come to a Resolution; which they had directed him to report, when the House will please to receive the same.

Ordered, That the Report be made To-morrow Morning.

Sir Thomas Littleton also acquainted the House, That he was directed by the Committee to move the House, That they may have Leave to sit again.

And a Motion being made, and the Question being proposed, That this House will, upon Monday Morning next, resolve itself into a Committee of the whole House to consider further of Ways and Means . . . . for carrying on the War against France, for the Service of the Year 1697;

An Amendment was proposed to be made thereunto, by adding, "after the reading the Bill for further regulating Elections of Members to serve in Parliament:"

And the Question being put, That the said Words be added;

Ordered, That Sir George Rooke do lay the Papers, formerly ordered, before this House To-morrow Morning.
