Prayers.

Bankrupts Estates.

A MOTION being made, That Leave be given to bring in a Bill for better Discovery of Bankrupts Estates:

And a Motion being made, and the Question being put, That these Words be added, "without Retrospect;"

It passed in the Negative.

Ordered, That the said Bill be brought in: And that Sir Henry Ashurst do prepare, and bring in, the said Bill.

Hawkers and Pedlars.

Ordered, That Leave be given to bring in a Bill for the suppressing of Hawkers and Pedlars, in Cities, Boroughs, and Corporations: And that Colonel Dean do prepare, and bring in, the said Bill.

Punishing Mutiny and Desertion.

A Bill for punishing Officers and Soldiers who shall mutiny, or desert their Majesties Service; and for punishing false Musters; and for Payment of Quarters; was read the First time.

Resolved, That the Bill be read a Second time.

Encouragement of Privateers.

Ordered, That Leave be given to bring in a Bill for the better Encouragement of Privateers: And that Mr. Boscawen, Mr. Pendarves, Mr. Gwyn, Mr. Vincent, Sir Eliab Harvy, Sir Tho. Vernon, or any Three of them, do prepare, and bring in, the same.

Leave of Absence.

Ordered, That Mr. Fownes have Leave to go into the Country for a Fortnight only, upon extraordinary Occasions.

Leverpoole Election.

A Petition of several Burgesses and Freemen of the Borough and Corporation of Leverpoole, in the County Palatine of Lancaster, in behalf of themselves, and others, was presented to the House and read; setting forth, That the Petitioners did, on the 4th Instant, legally choose Jasper Mawdit Esquire, as their Burgess, to serve in Parliament, in the room of the late Lord Colchester, now Earl of Rivers; notwithstanding which, the Mayor of the said Corporation hath unjustly returned Thomas Brotherton Esquire: And praying the Consideration of the House in the Premises.

Ordered, That the said Petition be heard at the Bar of this House upon this Day Three Weeks.

Leverpoole Election.

A Petition of Jasper Mawdit Esquire was presented to the House, and read; setting forth, That, at an Election the 4th instant for a Burgess to serve in this Parliament for the Borough of Leverpoole, in the room of the Lord Colchester, now Earl Rivers, the Petitioner was duly chosen a Burgess for the said Town, by a Majority of above 200 Voices of the legal Electors; but the Mayor of the Town, upon Pretence that the Petitioner was not duly qualified to serve, denied a Poll, though the same was demanded by the Electors; and hath returned one Thomas Brotherton Esquire, who opposed the Petitioner, in Prejudice of the Petitioner's Right: And praying Relief in the Premises.

Ordered, That the said Petition be also heard at the Bar of this House upon this Day Three Weeks.

Ordered, That the Mayor of Leverpoole do attend this House upon this Day Three Weeks.

Leave of Absence.

Ordered, That Mr. Blathwaite have Leave to go into the Country for a Fortnight, upon extraordinary Occasions.

Ordered, That the Lord Cutts have Leave to go into the Country, upon extraordinary Occasions.

Privilege Publication of Proceedings.

A Complaint being made to this House, That * Dyer, a News-Letter-Writer, has presumed in his News-Letter to take notice of the Proceedings of this House;

Resolved, That the said * Dyer be summoned by the Serjeant at Arms to attend this House To-morrow Morning at Ten a Clock, to answer the said Complaint.

Supply Bill; Tonage and Poundage.

An ingrossed Bill for granting to their Majesties the Subsidy of Tonage and Poundage was read the Third time.

An ingrossed Proviso was offered, as a Rider, That the Secretary of the Commissioners of the Customs may take the usual Fees for common Dispatches of his Office:

And the same was twice read.

And the Question being put, That the same be read a Third time;

It passed in the Negative.

Another ingrossed Clause was offered, as a Rider, touching Debentures:

And the same was twice read; with Blanks: And the Blanks were filled up by the House.

And then the Clause was read the Third time; and, upon the Question put thereupon, agreed unto by the House, to be made Part of the Bill.

Resolved, That the Bill do pass: And that the Title be, An Act for granting to their Majesties a Subsidy of Tonage and Poundage, and other Sums of Money, payable upon Merchandizes exported and imported.

Ordered, That Sir Thomas Littleton do carry the Bill to the Lords, and desire their Concurrence thereunto.

Registry of Deeds, &c.

Ordered, That the Bill for registring Memorials of Deeds, Conveyances, and Wills, be read a Second time upon this Day Sevennight, at Eleven a Clock.

Ways and Means.

The House, according to the Order of the Day, resolved itself into a Committee of the whole House, to consider further of Ways and Means for raising the Supply to be granted to their Majesties, for carrying on the War against France with Vigour.

Mr. Speaker left the Chair.

Sir Tho. Littleton took the Chair of the Committee.

Mr. Speaker resumed the Chair.

Sir Thomas Littleton reported from the said Committee, That they had taken into their Consideration the Matter to them referred; and had directed him to move, That they may have Leave to fit again.

Resolved, That this House will, upon Friday Morning next, at Eleven a Clock, resolve itself into a Committee of the whole House, to consider further of Ways and Means for raising the Supply to be granted to their Majesties, for carrying on the War against France with Vigour.

And then the House adjourned till To-morrow Morning, Eight a Clock.
