Prayers.

Coinage.

A PETITION of the Citizens, Tradesmen, and other Inhabitants, of the City of Peterborough, in the Name of themselves, and others in the said City and Neighbourhood, was presented to the House, and read; setting forth, That the House having under their Consideration the ill State of the Coin, the Petitioners hope the Currency of the unclipped hammered Money shall not be stopped; which if it should, it would not only ruin Trade, but deprive the Petitioners even of a Subsistence, for want of milled Money: And praying that the unclipped hammered Money may be made current.

Ordered, That the Consideration of the said Petition be referred to the Committee of the whole House, to whom the Bill for the further remedying the ill State of the Coin of the Kingdom; and encouraging the bringing Plate into the Mints, to be coined; is committed.

Smith's and Robert's Accounts.

The House being informed, That Mr. Aaron Smith attended, according to Order;

He was called in to the Bar; and acquainted the House, That he had endeavoured to make up his Accounts; but, by reason of Sickness, had not been yet able to finish the same; and made his Complaint to the House of ill Usage he had while he was in Custody of the Serjeant at Arms attending this House, the last Sessions.

And then withdrew.

Ordered, That the said Mr. Smith do, by the First Day of January next, make up his Accounts, of the Monies by him received and paid, before the Commissioners for taking and stating the Publick Accounts, upon Pain of incurring the Displeasure of this House.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee appointed to consider of the Fees relating to the Proceedings of this House, to examine the Matter of the said Complaint of the said Mr. Smith, of his ill Usage; and to report the same with their Opinions therein, to the House: And all that come are to have Voices.

The House being informed, That Mr. Richard Roberts attended, according to Order;

He was called in to the Bar; and gave an Account what he had done in relation to his Accounts for the Regiments to which he was Agent.

And then withdrew.

Ordered, That the said Richard Roberts do, in a Week next, perfect his Account, before the Commissioners for taking and stating the Publick Accounts, of the Money by him received for the Use of Sir John Morgan's Regiment.

Prisons and pretended privileged Places.

Resolved, That a Committee be appointed to consider how the Abuses of Prisons, and other pretended privileged Places, may be regulated; and to report their Opinions therein to the House:

And it is referred to Sir Richard Onslow, Sir Hen. Hobart, Sir Phillip Butler, Mr. Foley, Mr. Hobby, Mr. Methwyn, Sir Chr. Musgrave, Sir Fra. Winington, Mr. Ryder, Mr. Harrison, Mr. Peirpoint, Mr. How, Mr. Lowther, Sir Wm. Rich, Sir Rowland Gwyn, Mr. Heveningham, Sir Thomas Roberts, Sir Jo. Manwaring, Sir Robert Davers, Mr. Dolben, Mr. Bickerstaffe, Mr. Stonehouse, Mr. Whitaker, Mr. Perrey, Mr. Chadwick, Mr. Smith, Sir Hen. Pawlet, Mr. Campion, Sir Robert Cotton, Sir Hump. Forster, Sir Wm. Thomas: And they are to meet this Afternoon at Five a Clock, in the Speaker's Chambers.

Security of Loans, & c.

Resolved, That the Monies to be lent, not exceeding Six hundred Thousand Pounds, pursuant to the late Vote of Credit of this House, shall be charged on the next Aids, or Supplies, next after the Loans remaining unpaid, which were made on the Contributions for Annuities: And that the Loans already made on the Exchequer in general, not exceeding Forty thousand Pounds, be reckoned Part of the said Six hundred Thousand Pounds.

Privilege.

A Complaint being made to the House, That Samuel Peters, a menial Servant to Thomas Freke Esquire, a Member of this House, hath been arrested by John Antum and Samuel Darker, Serjeants, at the Suit of Eliz. Fortye; and is detained a Prisoner in the Compter of London; in Breach of the Privileges of this House:

Ordered, That the said Samuel Peters be discharged from his Imprisonment.

Ordered, That the Consideration of the said Complaint of the said Breach of Privilege be referred to the Committee of Privileges and Elections: And that they do examine the Matter thereof; and report the same, with their Opinion therein, to the House.

Supply Bill; Coinage.

The House, according to the Order of the Day, resolved itself into a Committee of the whole House, to consider further of the Bill for the further remedying the ill State of the Coin of the Kingdom; and encouraging the bringing Plate into the Mints, to be coined.

Mr. Speaker left the Chair.

Colonel Wharton took the Chair of the Committee.

Mr. Speaker resumed the Chair.

Colonel Wharton reported from the said Committee, That they had made a further Progress in the Matter to them referred; and had directed him to move, That they may have Leave to sit again.

Resolved, That this House will, upon Wednesday Morning next, resolve itself into a Committee of the whole House, to consider further of the said Bill.

Ordered, That all Committees be adjourned.

And then the House adjourned till Monday Morning, Nine a Clock.
