Prayers.

Shaftsbury Work-houses.

ORDERED, That Leave be given to bring in a Bill for erecting Work-houses, and Houses of Correction, in the Town of Shaftsbury; and for the better Employment and Maintenance of the Poor there: And that Mr. Nicholas do prepare, and bring in, the Bill.

Reneu's, &c. Nat.

Mr. Clarke, according to Order, presented to the House a Bill for naturalizing Mr. Hilary Reneu, and others: And the same was received; and read the First time.

Resolved, That the Bill be read a Second time upon Tuesday Morning next.

Kingston upon Hull Work-houses.

Mr. Osborne, according to Order, presented to the House a Bill for erecting Work-houses, and Houses of Correction, in the Town of Kingston upon Hull, for the Employment and Maintenance of the Poor there: And the same was received; and read the First time.

Resolved, That the Bill be read a Second time upon Tuesday Morning next.

Supply Bill; Hawkers and Pedlars.

Ordered, That it be an Instruction to the Members who are directed to prepare, and bring in, the Bill for continuing the Duties upon Coffee, Tea, Chocolate, and Spices, and also upon Hawkers and Pedlars, That the said Duties be applied towards Satisfaction of the Debt due for Transport-Service for the Reduction of Ireland: And that Mr. Norris be joined with them in preparing the said Bill.

Prevention of Gaming.

Mr. Arnold, according to Order, presented to the House a Bill to prevent Gaming:

And the same was read; and, by Leave of the House, withdrawn, being brought in with Penalties inserted.

Ordered, That, when the Bill shall be brought in again, there be inserted a Clause to repeal the Patent for the Royal Oak Lottery.

Estates given to superstitious Uses.

The House resumed the Consideration of the Bill for the better Discovery of Estates given to superstitious Uses:

And several Amendments were made, by the House, to the Bill.

Ordered, That the Bill, with the Amendments, be ingrossed.

Russia Trade.

An ingrossed Bill for the better encouraging and improving the Trade to Russia was read the Third time:

And several Amendments were proposed to be made to the Bill; viz.

Press *, L. *, to leave out "Denizons," and insert "natural-born Subjects:"

Pr. *, L. *, to insert "Day:"

And the same were, upon the Question severally put thereupon, agreed unto by the House; and the Bill amended at the Table accordingly.

Resolved, That the Bill do pass: And that the Title be, An Act for the better encouraging and improving the Trade to Russia.

Ordered, That Mr. Norris do carry the Bill to the Lords, and desire their Concurrence thereunto.

Leave of Absence.

Ordered, That Mr. Popham have Leave to go into the Country, for Recovery of his Health.

Foreign Lustrings.

Ordered, That the Report from the Committee, to whom the Petition of the Royal Lustring Company was referred, be referred to the Committee appointed to prepare Articles of Impeachment against John Goudett, and others directed to be impeached.

Supply Bill; Poll Tax.

The House, according to the Order of the Day, resolved itself into a Committee of the whole House, to consider of the Bill for granting to his Majesty an Aid, by a Quarterly Poll, for One Year.

Mr. Speaker left the Chair.

Sir Thomas Littleton took the Chair of the Committee.

Mr. Speaker resumed the Chair.

Sir Thomas Littleton reported from the said Committee, That they had made some Progress in the Matter to them referred.

Committees.

Ordered, That all Committees be revived.

And then the House adjourned till To-morrow Morning, Nine a Clock.
