Prayers.

Wire-drawers Trade.

ORDERED, That Mr. Foley, Mr. Machell, Mr. Cooper, Mr. Bradshaw, Sir Fran. Massam, Mr. Shackerly, Sir Marm. Wyvell, Mr. Thornhaugh, be added to the Committee, to whom the Bill for the settling and adjusting the Proportions of fine Silver and Silk, for the better making of Silver and Gold Thread; and to prevent the Abuses of Wire-drawers; was committed.

Calne Writ.

Ordered, That Mr. Speaker do issue his Warrant to the Clerk of the Crown, to make out a new Writ, for the electing a Burgess to serve in this present Parliament for the Borough of Calne, in the County of Wilts, in the room of George Hungerford Esquire, deceased.

Exporting Wool, Fullers Earth, &c.

Ordered, That the Committee, to whom the Bill for the preventing the Exportation of Wool to Scotland is committed, have Power to send for Persons, Papers, and Records: And that they have Power to receive a Clause, to prevent the exporting of Clay.

Copper Coinage.

Ordered, That the Report from the Committee, to whom the Petitions concerning the Copper Halfpence and Farthings are referred, be received upon Tuesday Morning next, in a full House.

Assize of Bread.

Ordered, That the Report from the Committee, to whom the Bill for the Assize of Bread was committed, be taken into Consideration upon Monday Morning next.

Garon's, &c. Nat.

Mr. Gery, according to Order, presented to the House a Bill for naturalizing of Peter Garon, and others: And the same was received; and read the First time.

Resolved, That the Bill be read a Second time upon Thursday Morning next.

Foreign Lustrings.

The Report from the Committee, to whom the Petition of the Royal Lustring Company was referred, as touching the Evidence against John Peirce, being again read;

Resolved, That the said John Peirce is guilty of High Crimes and Misdemeanors.

Ordered, That the said John Peirce be taken into the Custody of the Serjeant at Arms attending this House.

Preventing false Election Returns.

Ordered, That Leave be given to bring in a Bill for making more effectual an Act, made in the Twenty-third Year of the Reign of King Henry the VIth, for remedying false and undue Returns of Members of Parliament, and also to prevent double Returns: And that Sir Henry Colt and Sir Marmaduke Wyvell do prepare, and bring in, the Bill.

Wire-drawers Trade.

A Petition of the Master, Wardens, and Assistants, of the Art and Mystery of drawing and flatting of Gold and Silver Wire, and making and spinning of Gold and Silver Thread and Stuff, in the City of London, was presented to the House, and read; seting forth, That they being informed of a Bill depending, for settling and adjusting the Proportions of fine Silver and Silk, for the better making of Gold and Silver Thread; and to prevent the Abuses of Wire-drawers; and being sensible not only their Trade, but many thousand Families, will be concerned in the Consequences thereof, if passed into an Act: And praying to be heard to such Matters as they have to offer.

Ordered, That the Consideration of the said Petition be referred to the Committee, to whom the said Bill is committed.

Hereford Work-houses.

The House proceeded to take into Consideration the Amendments, made by the Lords, to the Bill, intituled, An Act for erecting of Hospitals and Work-houses within the City of Hereford, for the better employing and maintaining the Poor there:

And the same were twice read; and, upon the Question put thereupon, agreed unto by the House; and are as follow; viz.

Pr. 9. L. 41, leave out from "notwithstanding," to "and," in L. 3. Pr. 10.

Pr. 12. L. 5, leave out from "given," to "and," in Pr. 13. L. 5.

Ordered, That Mr. Morgan do carry the Bill to the Lords, and acquaint them, That this House hath agreed to the said Amendments.

Birdlipp Roads.

The House proceeded to take into Consideration the Amendment, made by the Lords, to the Bill, intituled, An Act for repairing the Highways from the Town of Birdlipp, and the Top of Crickley-hill, in the County of Gloucester, to the City of Gloucester:

And the same was twice read; and, upon the Question put thereupon, agreed unto by the House; and is as followeth; viz.

Downton Writ.

Ordered, That Mr. Speaker do issue his Warrant to the Clerk of the Crown, to make out a new Writ, for the electing a Burgess to serve in this present Parliament for the Borough of Downton, in the County of Wilts, in the room of Sir Charles Raleigh Knight, deceased.

Marleborough Writ.

Ordered, That Mr. Speaker do issue his Warrant to the Clerk of the Crown, to make out a new Writ, for the electing a Burgess to serve in this present Parliament for the Borough of Marleborough, in the County of Wilts, in the room of William Daniell Esquire, deceased.

Eye Writ.

Ordered, That Mr. Speaker do issue his Warrant to the Clerk of the Crown, to make out a new Writ, for the electing a Burgess to serve in this present Parliament for the Borough of Eye, in the County of Suffolke, in the room of the Honourable Charles Cornwallis Esquire, now called up to the House of Lords.

Derby Writ.

Ordered, That Mr. Speaker do issue his Warrant to the Clerk of the Crown, to make out a new Writ for the electing a Burgess to serve in this present Parliament for the Borough of Derby, in the County of Derby, in the room of John Bagnold Esquire, deceased.

Sale of Alveston Manor.

An ingrossed Bill, from the Lords, intituled, An Act for vesting the Manor of Alveston, and other Lands therein mentioned, in the County of Gloucester, in Trustees, to be sold, for Payment of Debts, and for other Purposes therein mentioned, was read the First time.

Resolved, That the Bill be read a Second time upon Friday Morning next.

Committee added.

Ordered, That Mr. Stockdale, Mr. Yates, Mr. Hoar, Mr. Arnold, Mr. Clerk, be added to the Committee, * * * *.

Hornby's Creditors.

A Bill to vest the Estates of Joseph and Nathaniell Hornby in Trustees, for the Benefit of their Creditors; and for the rendering more effectual an Agreement touching the same; was, according to Order, read the Second time.

And the Question being put, That the Bill be committed;

It passed in the Negative.

Resolved, That the Bill be rejected.

Escapes of Debtors.

A Petition of Edmund Bolter Esquire was presented to the House, and read; setting forth, That he having petitioned this House, to be heard against the Bill for the more effectual Relief of Creditors in Cases of Escapes; and for preventing of Escapes; the same was referred to the Committee, to whom the said Bill was committed; but, the Committee having proceeded so far in the Bill, they could make no Alterations therein: And praying to be heard, by Counsel, at the Bar of the House, before the same doth pass; or that the said Bill may be recommitted.

Ordered, That the Petition do lie upon the Table until the Report of the said Bill be made.

Ordered, That the said Report be made upon Monday Morning next, at Ten a Clock: And that the Report upon the Petition of Mr. Sevear, relating to the said Bill, be then taken into Consideration.

Leave of Absence.

Ordered, That Mr. Haynes have Leave to go into the Country, upon extraordinary Occasions.

Bail of Persons impeached.

Sir Rowland Gwyn reported from the Committee appointed to consider of the List of Sureties proposed by Mr. Seignores, Mr. Baudovin, Mr. Santini, Mr. Diharce, Mr. Longueville, Mr. Goudet, and Mr. Barrau, That they had considered of the same accordingly; and had directed him to report to the House the Sureties they approved of; for the said Mr. Seignores, Mr. Baudovin, Mr. Santini, Mr. Diharce, Mr. Longueville, &c. Two for each of them, and one of those proposed for Mr. Goudet; but that they did not approve of any of the rest proposed for the said Mr. Goudet nor any of those proposed for the said Mr. Barrau: Which the said Sir Rowland Gwyn read in his Place; and afterwards delivered in at the Clerk's Table: Where the same was read: and are as follow; viz.

Mr. Robert Lanchashire Merchant, Mr. Wm. Sheppard Goldsmith, to be Sureties for Mr. Seignores:

Ordered, That the same Committee do approve the Bond to be entered into by the said Persons, and their Sureties.

Ordered, That the said Mr. Goudet and Mr. Barrau do propose other Sureties for them to the said Committee.

Supply Bill; Lottery Tickets.

Mr. Lownds reported from the Committee, to whom the Bill for the better and more orderly Payment of the Lottery-Tickets, now payable, out of certain additional Duties of Excise, was committed, That they had made several Amendments to the Bill; which they had directed him to report to the House; which he read in his Place and afterwards delivered in at the Clerk's Table: Where the same were once read throughout; and then a Second time, one by one; and, upon the Question severally put thereupon, agreed unto by the House.

Ordered, That the Bill, with the Amendments, be ingrossed.

Ways and Means.

Sir Thomas Littleton reported, from the Committee of the whole House, to whom it was referred to consider further of Ways and Means for raising the Supply granted to his Majesty, the Resolutions of the said Committee; which they had directed him to report to the House; which he read in his Place; and afterwards delivered in at the Clerk's Table: Where the same were read; and are as follow; viz.

Resolved, That it is the Opinion of this Committee, That, towards the Supply granted to his Majesty, over and above the Duties now payable, a further Duty be laid upon Salt.

Resolved, That is the Opinion of this Committee, That the said further Duty be One Shilling and Eightpence per Bushel.

The said Resolutions, being severally read a Second time, were, upon the Question severally put thereupon, agreed unto by the House.

Ordered, That a Bill be brought in upon the said Resolutions: And that Mr. Attorney-General, Mr. Solicitor-General, and Mr. Lowndes, do prepare, and bring in, the Bill.

Hudsons Bay Company.

The House, according to the Order of the Day, resolved itself into a Committee of the whole House, to consider of the Bill for confirming to the Hudson's Bay Company their Privileges and Trade.

Mr. Speaker left the Chair.

Sir John Bolls took the Chair of the Committee.

Mr. Speaker resumed the Chair.

Sir John Bolls reported from the said Committee, That they had made some Progress in the Matter to them referred; and had directed him to move, That they may have Leave to sit again.

Resolved, That this House will, upon this Day Sevennight, resolve itself into a Committee of the whole House, to consider further of the said Bill.

Ordered, That all Committees be revived.

And then the House adjourned till Monday Morning, Nine a Clock.
