Prayers.

Address for pardoning certain Persons.

RESOLVED, That an humble Address be presented to his Majesty, by such Members of this House as are of his Majesty's most Honourable Privy-Council, That his Majesty would please to grant a Pardon to Peter Barillau, and Dina Mason, for their corresponding with France, by way of Trade; they having made a full Discovery of that Trade: And that his Majesty will protect them against any Prosecutions, for any Offences by them committed during the War.

Duties on Low Wines.

An ingrossed Bill to prevent the Frauds and Abuses of Distillers, and others chargeable with the Duties upon low Wines, and Spirits, was read the Third time.

Ordered, That the Bill do lie upon the Table.

Papers, &c. of impeached Persons.

A Petition of John Goudet and David Barrau was presented to the House, and read; setting forth, That they had their Books and Papers taken from them about Twelve Months ago; and since, the same have been laid before a Committee of this Honourable House: And praying, That the same may be forthwith restored to them.

Ordered, That the said Books and Papers be delivered to One of his Majesty's Principal Secretaries of State, from whom the same were had.

Message to Lords, that House intend to demand Judgment.

Ordered, That a Message be sent to the Lords, to acquaint them, That this House, with their Speaker, do intend, immediately, to come to the House of Lords, to demand Judgment against John Goudet, and others: And therefore desire, That the Painted Chamber, and Passage to the Lords House, may be cleared.

Ordered, That Mr. Norris do carry the said Message.

A Message from the Lords, by Sir Miles Cook and Sir Richard Holford:

Mr. Speaker,

Ship Sally Rose.

The Lords have agreed to the Bill, intituled, An Act to give Leave to the Ship Sally Rose, formerly taken as Prize, to arrive, and import her Lading, and to trade as an English built Ship, without any Amendment: Also,

Supply Bill; Duties on Glass, &c;

The Lords have agreed to the Bill, intituled, An Act for taking away half the Duties lately imposed on Glasswares, and the whole Duties lately laid on Stone and Earthen-wares, and Tobacco-pipes; and for granting, in lieu thereof, new Duties upon Whale-sins, and Scotch Linen; without any Amendment.

Mr. Speaker,

Message from Lords that they are ready to give Judgment.

We are to acquaint this House, That the Lords are ready to give Judgment against John Goudet, David Barrau, Stephen Seignoret, Rene Baudovin, Nicholas Santini, Peter Diharce, John Pierce, and John Dumaistre, who stand impeached by this House, if this House will, with their Speaker, come to demand it.

Lords Answer to Message.

Mr. Norris reported, That he having been at the Lords with the said Message, the Lords gave Answer, That they would give effectual Orders, That the Painted Chamber, and the Passages to their House, shall be cleared immediately.

Judgment demanded.

Resolved, That this House will, with Mr. Speaker and the Mace, go up to the Bar of the Lords House; and, in the Name of the Knights, Citizens and Burgesses, in Parliament assembled, and of all the Commons of England, demand Judgment against John Goudet, David Barrau, Stephen Seignoret, Rene Baudovin, Nicholas Santini, Peter Diharce, Merchants, John Peirse Gentleman, and John Dumaistre Merchant, impeached of High Crimes and Misdemeanors, of which they have consessed themselves guilty.

Accordingly, the House, with Mr. Speaker with the Mace, went up to the Bar of the Lords House; and, by Mr. Speaker, demanded the said Judgment.

And, being returned;

Mr. Speaker reported, That he had, in the Name of the Knights, Citizens, and Burgesses, in Parliament assembled, and of all the Commons of England, demanded Judgment against John Goudet, David Barraw, Stephen Seignoret, Rene Baudovin, Nicholas Santini, Peter Diharce, Merchants, John Peirse Gentleman, and John Dumaistre Merchant, impeached of High Crimes and Misdemeanors, of which they have confessed themselves guilty:

And that the Lords had given Judgment against John Goudet, That he should pay to our Sovereign Lord the King the Sum of Fifteen hundred Pounds; and that he shall be imprisoned in Newgate, there to be kept in safe and close Custody, until he shall have paid the said Fine:

That David Barrau shall pay unto our Sovereign Lord the King the Sum of Five hundred Pounds; and that he shall be imprisoned in Newgate, there to be kept in safe and close Custody, until he shall have paid the said Fine:

That Stephen Seignoret shall pay unto our Sovereign Lord the King the Sum of Ten thousand Pounds; and that he shall be imprisoned in Newgate, there to be kept in sase and close Custody, until he shall have paid the said Fine:

That Rene Baudovin shall pay unto our Sovereign Lord the King the Sum of Three thousand Pounds; and that he shall be imprisoned in Newgate, there to be kept in safe and close Custody, until he shall have paid the said Fine:

That Nicholas Santiny shall pay unto our Sovereign Lord the King the Sum of Fifteen hundred Pounds; and that he shall be imprisoned in Newgate, there to be kept in safe and close Custody, until he shall have paid the said Fine:

That Peter Diharce shall pay unto our Sovereign Lord the King the Sum of One thousand Pounds; and that he shall be imprisoned in Newgate, there to be kept in safe and close Custody, until he shall have paid the said Fine:

That John Peirse shall pay unto our Sovereign Lord the King the Sum of One thousand Pounds; and that he shall be imprisoned in Newgate, there to be kept in safe and close Custody, until he shall have paid the said Fine; and for the Term of One whole year afterwards:

That John Dumaistre shall pay unto our Sovereign Lord the King the Sum of One thousand Pounds; and that he shall be imprisoned in Newgate, there to be kept in safe and close Custody, until he shall have paid the said Fine.

Application of Fines imposed on Goudet, &c.

Resolved, That an humble Address be presented to his Majesty, by such Members of this House as are of his Majesty's most Honourable Privy-Council, That the Fines set by the Lords upon John Goudet, and others, who have been impeached, may be appropriated to Greenwich Hospital

And then the House adjourned until To-morrow Morning, Nine a Clock.
