Ships John and William, and Industry.

A Bill for the Ships John and William, and Industry, to trade as free Ships, was read the First time.

Resolved, That the Bill be read a Second time.

Legg's Nat.

A Bill for naturalizing Richard Legg was read a Second time.

Resolved, That the Bill be committed to Mr. Lowther, Colonel Kirkby, Sir Henry Bellasis, Mr. Clayton, Mr. Freeman, Sir James Hubland, Mr. England, Mr. Gerrard, Mr. Morgan, Sir Charles Carteret, Sir Robert Cotton, Mr. Bernardiston, Sir Samuel Barnardiston, Lord Downe, Mr. Paget, Sir Baswell Dixwell, Lord Cornbury, Mr. Bridges, Mr. Philips, Colonel Godfrey, Mr. Mounstevens, Mr. Booth, Mr. Cooke, Sir Bevill Granville, Mr. Hughes, Mr. Hancock: And they are to meet To-morrow Morning at Eight of the Clock, in the Speaker's Chambers.

Abuses in King's Bench and Fleet Prisons.

Ordered, That the Report from the Committee, who are to inquire into the ill Practices and Abuses of the Prisons of the King's-Bench and Fleet, be made upon Wednesday Morning next.

Vesey's Estate.

Sir Samuel Bernardiston reported from the Committee, to whom the Bill to enable Dudley Vesey, an Infant, to sell an Estate in Hintlesham, in the County of Suffolk, for the Payment of his Debts, was committed, That they had examined and considered the same; and had directed him to report the same to the House, without any Amendments: And he delivered the same in at the Clerk's Table.

Ordered, That the Bill be ingrossed.

Billingsgate FishMarket.

Sir Thomas Davall, according to Order, reported from the Committee, to whom the Bill for making Billingsgate a free Market for Sale of Fish was committed, That they had considered the same, and the several Petitions to them referred; and had made several Amendments to the Bill; which they had directed him to report to the House; which he read in his Place; and afterwards delivered in at the Clerk's Table: Where the same were once read throughout; and then a Second time, one by one; and, upon the Question severally put thereupon, some of them were disagreed, and the rest agreed, unto by the House.

A Clause being offered, to be added to the Bill, That nothing therein should prejudice the Rights, Privileges, and Payments, now due and payable to his Majesty's Tower of London, or Chief Governor of the same;

The same was once read:

And the Question being put, That the Clause be read a Second time;

It passed in the Negative.

Another Clause being offered, to be added to the Bill, touching the Town of Yarmouth;

And the Question being put, That the Clause be received;

It passed in the Negative.

Another Clause being offered to be added to the Bill, * * * *

The same was twice read; and, upon the Question put thereupon, agreed unto by the House to be made Part of the Bill.

Another Clause being offered to the House, That whosoever shall come to sell any Fish at the said Market, shall expose the same to View, that the Quantity and Quality thereof may be fully known to all Persons; and, in default thereof, shall forfeit

The same was once read:

And a Debate arising in the House thereupon;

Resolved, That the Debate be adjourned till Tomorrow Morning.

Browne's Nat.

A Message from the Lords, by Sir John Franklyn and Sir Lacon William Child:

Mr. Speaker,

The Lords have passed a Bill, intituled, An Act for naturalizing Captain Thomas Browne: To which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

And then the Messengers withdrew.

Leave of Absence.

Ordered, That Sir Joseph Jekill, Chief Justice of Chester, have Leave to go that Circuit.

Liverpoole Parish.

Ordered, That the Report from the Committee, to whom the Bill to enable the Town of Liverpoole to build a Church, and endow the same by their own Contributions, and otherwise; and for making the said Town, and Liberties thereof, a Parish of itself, distinct from Walton; be made upon Saturday Morning.

Leave of Absence.

Ordered, That Mr. Brewer have Leave to go into the Country, upon extraordinary Occasions.

Ordered, That the Lord William Pawlett have Leave to go into the Country for a Week, upon extraordinary Occasions.

Ordered, That Mr. Taylor, of Dorsetshire, have Leave to go into the Country, upon extraordinary Occasions.

Ordered, That Mr. James Mountague, Chief Justice of Ely, have Leave to go that Circuit.

Grants from the Crown.

Ordered, That Mr. Lowndes do lay before this House the Book of Copies of Grants after the Year 1660, which he did the last Year; and also an Account of all Grants made since the First Day of January 1697.

Supply.

The House, according to Order, resolved itself into a Committee of the whole House, to consider further of the Supply to be granted to his Majesty.

Mr. Speaker left the Chair.

Mr. Cowper took the Chair of the Committee.

Mr. Speaker resumed the Chair.

Mr. Cowper reported from the said Committee, That they had made a further Progress in the Matter to them referred; and had directed him to move, That they may have Leave to fit again.

Resolved, That this House will, upon Tuesday Morning next, resolve itself into a Committee of the whole House, to consider further of the Supply to be granted to his Majesty.

Suppressing Lotteries.

Ordered, That the Bill to suppress the Royal Oak Lottery, and other Lotteries, be read To-morrow Morning.

Methold's Estate.

Ordered, That Mr. Hoar, Mr. Kent, be added to the Committee, to whom the Bill for vesting Part of the Estate of Thomas Methold Esquire in Trustees, for raising the Sum of 1,200 l. expended in the Improvement of the said Estate, was committed.

Frauds by Agent of Packet-boats.

Ordered, That Mr. Molyneux, Mr. Philips, Mr. Henley, Mr. Chomley, Mr. Clerke, Sir Wm. Ashurst, Sir Richard Cox, Sir Wm. St. Quintin, Mr. Fleming, Sir Henry Ashurst, Sir Walter Young, be added to the Committee, to whom the Petition of John Russell Gentleman is referred.

Privilege of a Member in a Suit.

Ordered, That the Matter, upon the Petition of the Earl of Radnor, be heard by the Committee of Privileges and Elections upon Saturday next, in the Afternoon.

Ditto.

Ordered, That the Matter, upon the Petition of the Lady Windham, be heard by the Committee of Privileges and Elections upon Tuesday next, in the Afternoon.

Committees.

Ordered, That all Committees be adjourned.
