Tumults at Sutton Marsh.
THE Draught of a Letter, to be sent from both Houses to ... Lieutenant and Deputy Lieutenants of the County of Lincolne, for suppressing all riotous and tumultuous Assemblies about Sutton Marsh, denied.
Mr. Serjeant Wilde reports from the Committee appointed to consider of a weekly Assessment, an Ordinance to that Purpose; with the particular Sums set upon the several Counties and Cities: The which were all read; and, upon the Question, re-committed unto the same Committee: And are to meet this Afternoon upon it, at Two of Clock, in the Exchequer Chamber: And are to bring it in this Afternoon: And have Power to send for Parties and Records.
Ordered, That the Serjeant send One of his Men, to go along with Mr. Browne, from Prison to Prison, with him: And that Colonel Manwaring be required to send Two of his Officers with the said Mr. Browne: And that the several Keepers do call the Prisoners down into One Place together in the several Prisons: And that there, in the Presence and Hearing of the said Officers, and the Serjeant's Man, he do distribute what he has to distribute to the said Prisoners: And that he shall speak nothing to any of the Prisoners, but in the Presence and Hearing of the said Officers, and the Serjeant's Man.
King's Answer to Propositions.
Ordered, That his Majesty's Answer to the Propositions of both Houses be taken into Consideration Tomorrow Morning.
Mr. Grimston carried up to the Lords a Letter concerning Sutton Marshe; the which was read, and assented unto here. And Mr. Grimston is to acquaint the Lords, That they have considered of the Order sent down from their Lordships concerning that Business; and do think it more convenient to do the Business by Letter than Order: And * * *
Ordered, That the Names of the Persons to be trusted with the Sequestring of the Estates of Papists and Delinquents in Cambridgeshire, this Day presented to the House, be recommended to the Committee for that Business.
