Mercurii, 13 Jan. 1640.

PRAYERS.

Marlo Magna Election.

ORDERED, That the Business concerning the Election for Marlo Magna, between Mr. Hobby, and Mr. Borlacy, be recommitted, upon the whole Matter, to the former Committee: And they are not to sit, till they have Leave from the House.

Salisbury Election.

Ordered, That the Report of the Case, concerning the Election for the Town of Salisbary, be reported on Monday next.

Advance from Customs.

Sir Jo. Hotham reports from the Committee appointed to provide Money for the King's Army, that, according to an Order Yesterday made, the Customers attended that Committee; that they are willing to advance Sixty thousand Pounds in this manner; Twenty thousand Pounds within a Week; Twenty thousand Pounds more Fifteen Days after; and Twenty thousand Pounds more Fifteen Days after that.-Sir Paul Pindar (they know not by what Chance) was not there:-Is here at the Door now; and desired he might be called in, to know if he did assent to the Offer made by the other Customers:- Who being called in, said, he did assent, and was ready to join with them, and so he would.

Ship-money, &c.

Mr. Whetlock, upon Mr. St. John's Request, was joined as an Assistant unto him for the transferring the Business of the Ship-money, and other Matters, concerning the Property and Liberty of the Subject.

Farmers of Impositions.

The Committee last appointed for the King's Army, has Leave to withdraw into the Court of Wards, to examine the Farmers of the Impositions, according to an Order made Yesterday.

Proceedings against Lord Finch.

Ordered, That there may be such Proceedings against the late Lord Keeper, notwithstanding his Absence, as in Cases of the like Nature are desired against other Men.

Church Government.

The Petition of many the Inhabitants within his Majesty's County of Kent, read.

Ordered, That the Londoners Petition, and those other Petitions that are already delivered in, or shall in the mean time be delivered, concerning the Ecclesiastical Government, shall be read, and debated on Monday come Seven-night: And Mr. Speaker is ordered to put the House in mind of this Order, at the same time.

Smart's Judgment against Easdale, &c.

Ordered, That Doctor Easdale, Phineas Hodson, Doctor in Divinity, and Roger Blanchard, shall shew Cause unto this House, why they do not pay the Monies adjudged to be paid to Mr. Peter Smart, upon a Judgment in the King's-bench, against the said Easdale, Hodson, and Blanchard, at the Suit of the said P. Smart, about Ten Years since.

Articles against Lord Finch.

Resolved, upon the Question, That these Articles, thus read and ingrossed, shall be sent up to the Lords, in Maintenance of the Commons Charge against Jo. Lord Finch of Fordwich, late Lord Keeper of the Great Seal of England.

Mr. A. Goodwyn is appointed to go up with a Message to the Lords, to desire a Conference with their Lordships, by a Committee of both Houses, concerning Articles to be delivered, in Maintenance of the Commons Accusation of Jo. Lord Finch of Fordwich, late Lord Keeper of the Great Seal of England; and concerning the Liberty and Property of the Subject.

Bps. of Elye and Norwich.

Ordered, That the Committee for the Bishop of Elye shall have Power to receive all Complaints of Pressures and Enormities, committed by or under the present Bishop of Norwich.

But they are to proceed first with the Matters concerning the Bishop of Elye.

Privilege.

Mr. Barry, Tho. Plenty, and Jo. Cater, who were formerly, by Order from this House, sent for, as Delinquents, by the Serjeant at Arms attendant on this House, to answer their Contempts in arresting, and causing to be arrested, several of the Servants of Mr. Hollis, a Member of this House, during the Time of Privilege of Parliament, were severally called in to the Bar; and kneeling there, and acknowledging their Offence, were, by Order of the House, made known unto them by Mr. Speaker, discharged from their Imprisonment, or any farther Punishment.

Articles against Lord Finch.

At the Request of the Lord Falkland, Mr. Hide, is appointed to be Assistant unto him, for the Reading of the Articles to be delivered against the late Lord Keeper.

Conference.

Mr. Goodwyn brings Answer; that, according to the Order of this House, he had delivered the Message to their Lordships; and their Lordships will give a Meeting To-morrow Morning, at Nine of Clock, by a Committee of the whole House, as is desired.
