PRAYERS.

St. Thomas, Southwarke, Lecturer.

UPON the humble Petition of the Parishioners of the Parish of St. Thomas in Southwarke;

It is Ordered, That Mr. Jo. Allen, a learned and orthodox Divine, and in Orders, be recommended to the said Parish to be their Lecturer, to preach there every Wednesday in the Afternoon: And that the Parson of the said Parish is hereby required to permit him the Use of the Pulpit, to exercise his Ministry, at the Times aforesaid.

Printing a Letter.

Ordered, That the Lords be moved to desire the Earl of Northumberland, That he will give Order for the Printing of the Letter directed unto him from the Earl of Leicester, Lord Lieutenant of Ireland.

Coventrye Garison.

Ordered, That the Consideration of maintaining the Garison at Coventrye, out of the Subscription Monies that shall be collected in the said City, be referred to the Consideration of the Committee for the Defence of the Kingdom.

It is Resolved, upon the Question, That Sir Rich. Wynne be admitted into the House.

Prisoners discharged.

Resolved, upon * *, That the Alderman of the Town of Bury, and Mr. Chaplaine of the said Town, who, by a former Order, upon an Information that they opposed Lieutenant Belston, in the Service of the Parliament, to beat up his Drum for Raising of Men in that Town, were sent for, as Delinquents, be forthwith discharged; the House being more particularly informed of the Truth of that Business, and very well satisfied therewith: And that Mr. Reynolds do write a Letter to the said Town, to certify them how well they are satisfied with the Affection of the said Town.

Affairs in Shrewsbury.

Mr. Pierrepointe reports the State and Condition of the County of Shrewsbury, and the Proceedings of the High Sheriff, and the Commissioners of Array there; and likewise of the Committee; and likewise the Carriage and Proceedings of Baron Henden, at the last Assizes at Bridenorth, he being Judge of Assizes for that County.

Weld's Impeachment.

Resolved, That, to the Articles of Impeachment against Jo. Weld, High Sheriff of the County of Salop, an Addition shall be made of the Seizing of the Person of Mr. Barker, and the Taking his Goods and Money.

Proceedings against Judge Henden, &c.

Resolved, upon the Question, That Mr. Baron Henden is a Delinquent.

Ordered, That the Committee appointed to inquire after the Carriage of the Judges, in their several Circuits, do meet To-morrow in the Afternoon, in the Exchequerchamber: And that Mr. Pierrepointe, Mr. Rigby, Mr. Jo. Corbett, Mr. Rich. Moore, be added to this Committee: And that they sit when and where they please: And that it be referred to them to draw up an Impeachment against Baron Henden; and against such other Judges and Justices of Assize, as, upon Proofs and Examination of their Carriages, they shall think fit: And they have Power to send for Parties, Witnesses, &c.

This Committee, or any Four of them, have Power to sit * * * *

Members Subscriptions, &c.

Mr. Rich. Moore declares, that he has delivered into the Guildhall, London, One hundred and Twenty Pounds, in Plate.

Sir Rich. Winne, Sir Tho. Parker, declare themselves in the Affirmative to the Resolution concerning the Earl of Essex.

Sir Rich. Winne, Sir Tho. Parker, take Time till To-morrow, to declare what they will bring in for the Maintenance of the Earl of Essex, in this Cause, for the Maintenance of the true Protestant Religion, and the Liberty of the Subject.

Sir Tho. Cheeke declares, That he has brought in Three Horses; and will bring in Two hundred Pounds in Money or Plate.

Sir F. Barnham says, That he will pay in the Hundred Pounds he promised to lend, within these Five or Six Days at farthest.

Sir Wm. Drake informs the House, That he has paid in the Two hundred Pounds he promised to lend; and has his Horses ready for Service in the Country, where they have already been in Service; and desires that he may keep them there.

Conveying Prisoners.

Ordered, That the Prisoners, viz. Captain Henry Fotherby, Captain Robert Bolls, Robert Rookes, Geo. Drewell, Lieutenants, John Bellow, Peter Turner Doctor in Physick, Robert Terrent Servant to the said Doctor, to be brought up by the Sheriff of Middlesex, shall be, by him, conveyed to the Prisons of the Kinge's Bench, the Marshalsea, and the Bailiwick of Southwarke, proportioned according to the Discretion of the Sheriff.

Raising Dragooners.

Mr. Rigby, Mr. Pierrepointe, Sir Ro. Harley, Sir Wm. Brereton, Mr. Rich. Moore, Sir Jo. Corbett, Mr. Serjeant Wilde, Mr. Darley;

This Committee, or any Two of them, are appointed to meet this Afternoon, at Two of Clock, in the Exchequer-chamber, to treat with the Undertakers that undertake to set forth Dragooners for the Service of the King and Parliament: And are to meet when and where they please.

Persons sent for.

Resolved, upon the Question, That Sir Nicolas Cole, Mayor of Newcastle, shall be forthwith sent for, as a Delinquent, by the Serjeant at Arms attending on this *.

Resolved, That Sir Tho. Riddell the younger shall be forthwith sent for, as a Delinquent.

Resolved, That Sir Alexander Davison shall be forthwith sent for, as a Delinquent.

Resolved, upon the Question, That Sir Jo. Marley shall be forthwith sent for, as a Delinquent.

Resolved, upon the Question, That Mr. Tho. Liddall shall be forthwith sent for, as a Delinquent.

And it is referred to the Committee for the Defence of the Kingdom, to take Order for sending for these Delinquents.

Declaration in answer to Scotland.

Ordered, That the Declaration sent in Answer to the Declaration from the General Assembly of the Church in Scotland, be forthwith printed.

Instructions to Irish Committees.

A Message from the Lords, by Dr. Aylett and Dr. Health;

The Lords have returned these Instructions for the Committees to be sent into Ireland: To which they agree, with some Additions.

The said Additions were read; and assented unto, by Vote upon the Question.

Answer returned by the same Messengers; That this House does agree to the Amendments sent down from the Lords.

London Militia Committee.

Ordered, by the and Commons in Parliament assembled, That, instead of Sir Jo. Gayne, and Sir Jacob Garrett, the Lord Mayor and Sheriffs of London for the Time being, shall be added to the Committee for ordering the Militia of the said City of London: And that the said Committee, or any Nine or more of them (whereof Three of them at least to be Aldermen) shall proceed in the Execution of the said Ordinance, to all Intents and Purposes, from time to time, as shall be needful.

Mr. Wheeler is appointed to carry up this Order to the Lords for their Concurrence.

Petition to the King, &;c.

Mr. Pym reports from the Committee, the Petition to be presented unto his Majesty by the Lord General; and the Instructions to be given to the Lord General.

The Petition was several times read; and, by Vote upon the Question, assented unto: And the Instructions ordered to be taken into Consideration To-morrow Morning.

Leave of Absence.

Sir Jo. Lee has Leave to go down into the Isle of Wight, to his Charge there, being appointed Colonel of a Regiment in that Island, by the Earl of Pembroke, Governor of the said Isle.

Buck's, &c. Examination.

Ordered, That the Examination of Lieutenant Colonel Buck, Captain Turney, Captain Burley, and Colonel Brett, who are come up from the Isle of Wight, and have rendered themselves to the Serjeant, be referred to the Committee for Informations: And they are intreated to take it into a speedy Consideration; and to make Report thereof to the House.

Pass for Portuguese Resident.

Ordered, That the Resident for the King of Portugall shall have Mr. Speaker's Warrant, freely to go and come to the Sea-side, with his Followers, to fetch his Wife and Company, and other Goods that she shall bring with her from thence to this Town, peaceably, and without the Interruption or Molestation of any Man, or the Affront of any Soldiers, or any other People, according to the Law of Nations; they demeaning themselves peaceably as they ought to do.
