PRAYERS.

Much Hollingbury Rectory.

AN Order for putting Wm. Hales Master of Arts, a godly, learned, and orthodox Divine, into the Rectory of the Parish Church of Much Hollingbury, in the County of Essex, in the stead of Edward Thurman, Rector of the said Parish; and that the Profits of the said Rectory be sequestred into the Hands of the said Wm. Hales; and that he take care of the Discharge of the Cure of the said Place in all the Duties thereof; and that he preach diligently; was this Day read, and, by Vote * * * *

Prisoner discharged.

Upon the humble Petition of Dr. Jo. Price, a Prisoner in Newgate, it is Ordered, That he be forthwith discharged of any further Imprisonment.

St. Austine's Rectory.

An Order for putting Francis Roberts Master of Arts, a godly, learned, and orthodox Divine, in the place and stead of Ephraim Udall, Rector of the Parish of St. Austine's, London; and that the Rents and Profits of the said Rectory be sequestred into the Hands of the said F. Roberts; and that he take care of the Discharge of the Cure of the said Place, in all . . . thereof; and that he preach diligently.

Lady Baltinglasse.

Ordered, That Mr. Speaker, by Letter, do recommend it to Sir Peter Temple, from this House, to take some speedy Care of the Lady Baltinglasse, as his Child; and to make some Provision for her, either by Sale of Two hundred Pounds-worth of Timber from off the Lands that came to Sir Peter Temple by her Mother, or by affording her Two hundred Pounds in present ready Money.

Warrant to Lord Murray.

Resolved, &c. That the Lord Murray shall have Mr. Speaker's Warrant to send a Servant to Oxon with a Letter, upon the Occasion of the Death of the Lady Roxborough; the which Letter is to be first seen by Mr. Speaker; and my Lord undertakes, that the said Servant shall carry no other Letter or Message.

Payment to Scotland.

The Ordinance for Payment of the Sum of Twenty thousand Pounds to the Scotts out of the Sequestrations, after the Thirty thousand Pounds already ordered to the Lord General, Lord Fairfax, Earl of Mulgrave, the Lord Sheffeild, and others, was read; and, upon the Question, assented unto; and ordered that the Lords be moved to join therein.

Earl of Moulgrave, &c.

Ordered, That the Treasurers for Sequestration do, according to a former Order, pay to the Earl of Moulgrave, and the Lord Sheffeilde, the Monies mentioned in that Order.

Letters referred.

A Letter from the Officers and Commanders of the Army, of the Twenty-sixth of June, was this Day read; and referred to the Committee for the Safety of the Kingdom, and to the Committee for Advance of Monies.

A Letter from the Earl of Essex, of the Twenty-eighth of June, was this Day read; and referred to Mr. Strode and Mr. Pim to prepare an Answer to it, to be written from Mr. Speaker.

Leicester Committees.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth nominate and approve of Rob. Billers Esquire, to be one of the Committees for the Town and County of Leicester; and that the Lords Concurrence be desired herein.

Issues of Money.

Ordered, That a Warrant, under the Hand of any Three of the Committee for the Signing and Disposal of Monies, shall be a sufficient Discharge and Warrant to the Treasurers for the Sequestrations, or any other Treasurers for the Receipt of Monies upon any other Ordinance for Monies, for such Monies as they shall issue by virtue of any Warrant so signed.

Deane's Sequestration.

Ordered, That Mr. Trenchard and Mr. Serjeant Wilde, or either of them, do seize, or cause to be seized, the Five hundred Pounds in the Hands of the Company of Merchant Adventurers, due to Mr. Deane; and employ it upon Account, for the Service of the Forces under the Command of Sir Wm. Waller.

Ricauts' Sequestration.

Ordered, That the East India Company be required and enjoined to transfer that Interest which Sir Peter Ricauts has to any Adventure in the Trade of that Company, to such Person or Persons, as the Committee for Accounts shall contract with for the Sale of it unto.

Leave of Absence.

Ordered, That Sir Jo. Holland be dispensed with for his going into the Country, in regard of his Indisposition of Health; and that he have leave to go to Tunbridge Waters for the Recovery thereof: And that he do forthwith send down Commission to Mr. Wilton, to be his Lieutenant Colonel, and to command and exercise his Regiment in his Absence.

Manwood's Assessment.

Ordered, That Sir Jo. Manwood, notwithstanding his Warrant to go beyond Seas, do not depart the Kingdom, until he has been with the Committee at Haberdashers Hall, and given them Satisfaction touching such Payments as are assessed upon him.

Lords to sit.

Sir Wm. Armyn is appointed to go to the Lords, accompanied with Sir Christ. Yelverton, Mr. Prideaux, Sir Rob. Harley, Sir Peter Wentworth, Sir Nevil Poole, Mr. Holland, and Sir Jo. Corbett (who are enjoined Secrecy) to desire the Lords to sit awhile.

Proceedings on the Plot.

Further Examinations of Mr. Waller, concerning the Earl of Northumberland and others, were presented by the Committee, and read; and it was thereupon.

Resolved, &c. That a Message be sent to the Lords, to desire that the Earl of Northumberland may be examined by a Committee of the Lords, in the Presence of some Members of this House, concerning some Informations touching the late Plot.

Lords to sit.

Sir Wm. Armyn brings Answer, that the Lords will sit awhile, as is desired.

Challoner's Sequestration.

Upon the humble Petition of Rich. Norton, this Day read in the House of Commons, it is Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee for Sequestrations in London, to take some speedy Course, that the Goods, Debts, and Estate of Mr. Chaloner, in Partnership with the Petitioner, may be parted and divided; and the Half belonging to Mr. Challoner sequestred into the Hands of the said Committee.

Sequestred Goods.

Ordered, That the Goods of the Earl of Thanett, the Lord Cottington, Sir H. Compton, Sir Peter Osborne, Sir Tho. Fanshawe, Secretary Winebank, Sir Jo. Lambe, Sir Jo. Pennington, Capt. Cartwright, Mr. Nott, at Temple Bar, Mr. Andrew Kinge, Mr. Jo. Luntly, Mr. Charles Jennings, Mr. White, Mr. Blinkorne, Sir Tho. Gardner, Mr. Brome the Counsellor, Sir Tho. Bludder, Mr. Bill his Son-in-Law, Mr. Jo. Compton, Mr. Gumbledon of the Exchange, Mr. Tho. Jones a Girdler, Mr. Nevile a Draper, Mr. Jo. Smith Cutler, Mr. Jo. Wallis, Dr. Watts of Woodstreet, Mr. Banks of Cheapside, Dr. Duck, Dr. Merrick, Dr. Reeves, Dr. Tucker, seized by the Committee for Sequestrations long since, and none of them coming to clear themselves, be all forthwith sold by the Candle.

Deane Church Rectory.

Whereas the Rectory of Deane Church, within the County of Lancaster, being an Impropriation of all Tythes whatsoever, is now sequestred; and that as well the said Parish Church, as several Chapels within the said Parish, have not any Means to maintain Preaching Ministers; and the People, by the sad Distractions of that County, much impoverished, having been much plundered, so as they are not able to maintain Ministers at their own Charge; It is Ordered, by the House of Commons, assembled in Parliament, that, out of the Tythes and other Profits belonging to the Rectory of the said Parish of Deane Church, there be paid, upon the First Day of October next, unto the Minister of the said Deane Church, Twenty Pounds; and unto the Minister of Houghton Chapel, the Sum of Twenty Pounds; and to the Minister of Horwitch Chapel the Sum of Ten Pounds: And an Acquittance, under the several Ministers Hands, for the said Sums, shall be a sufficient Discharge unto the Collectors, or other Officers, that shall account for the same.

Listing Horses.

A Message from the Lords, by Sir Rob. Riche and Mr. Page;

The Lords have sent down the Ordinance concerning the Listing of Horses; to which they do agree, with some Amendments and Alterations; which they have herewith sent, and desire the Concurrence of this House in them: And that, upon the Concurrence, they may be printed.

Church Government.

A Message from the Lords, by Serjeant Whitfield and Dr. Heath;

The Lords have thought upon some Rules to be observed by the Assembly of Divines, at their Meeting; in which they desire the Concurrence of this House: And that, upon the Concurrence, they may be printed.

Proceedings on the Plot.

Mr. Recorder proceeded in the Report of the Evidences against the Conspirators in the late horrid Plot.

Resolved, &c. That Mr. White shall be tried, as for being guilty of the late Conspiracy.

Resolved, &c. That Mr. Abbot, shall be tried, as for being guilty of the late Conspiracy.

Resolved, &c. That Mr. Blinkhorne shall be tried, as for being guilty of the late Conspiracy.

Resolved, &c. That Mr. Challoner shall be tried, as for being guilty of the late Conspiracy.

Resolved, &c. That Mr. Tomkins shall be tried, as for being guilty of the late Conspiracy.

Resolved, &c. That Mr. Alexander Hampden shall be tried, as for being guilty of the late Conspiracy.

Resolved, &c. That Mr. Edm. Waller shall be brought to the Bar in this House, on Monday Morning next, at Ten of Clock.

Resolved, &c. That the Committees appointed to take the Examinations of the Conspirators in the late Plot, be desired to be present at the Trial of the said Conspirators.

Resolved, &c. That such of the Members of the House as shall be summoned, by virtue of a Commission granted by the Earl of Essex to the Earl of Manchester; shall attend the Service required of them by that Commission.

Westminster Chapel.

Ordered, That the Inhabitants of Westminster shall have Liberty to receive the Sacrament in the new Chapel.

Ordered, That the House meet this Afternoon, at Four of Clock.

Army Affairs.

THE Draught of a Letter to be sent from the Speakers of both Houses to the Marquis of Ormond and the Lord Lisle, to be communicated to the rest of the Officers and Soldiers of the Army for their Encouragement, was this Day read; and, by Vote upon the Question, assented unto; and ordered to be delivered unto the Lords, at a Conference.

Message to Lords.

Resolved, That Sir Rob. Pye shall go to the Lords with the Message, already voted only, concerning the Earl of Northumberland.

Foreland Lights.

The humble Petition of Sir Jo. Meldrun Knight, desiring that he or his Agents might have Liberty to bring Five hundred Chaldron of Newcastle or Sunderland Coals, for the Maintenance of the Lights upon the North and South Foreland, was this Day read; and ordered that it be referred to the Consideration of the Committee for the Navy.

Proceedings on the Plot.

Ordered, That the Committee appointed to take the Examinations in the Business of the late Plot do go up to be present at the Examination of the Earl of Northumberland; Sir Rob. Pye bringing Answer, that the Lords do agree, that the Earl of Northumberland shall be examined by a Committee of the Lords, in the Presence of some Members of this House.

Army Appointment.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth nominate and approve of Colonel * Browne to be Serjeant Major General of the Forces designed for Newcastle.

Persons to attend.

Resolved, &c. That Mr. Cutler, Mr. Smythes, and Mr. Hammon of Ipswich, be forthwith summoned to attend this House.

Proceedings on the Plot.

A Message from the Lords, by sir Rob. Riche and Mr. Page;

The Lords have received a Petition from the Earl of Portland; and have thereupon appointed, that he shall be examined To-morrow, at Nine of Clock, in the Lord Keeper's Lodgings: And they desire, that Mr. Edm. Waller should be there, to confront him; and desire, that Members of this House, that are the Committee appointed to take the Examinations of the late Plot, may be present.

A Message from the Lords, by Serjeant Whitfield and Dr. Heath;

Whereas the Lords desired, that Mr. Waller might be sent for to be examined upon the Petition of the Earl of Portland, To-morrow Morning, at Nine of Clock: They now desire, that Mr. Waller may be sent for, to be examined this Night; and that the Committee of this House for these Examinations may be present.

Resolved, That this House doth agree, according to the Desire of the Lords, that Mr. Waller shall be presently sent for, to be examined.

Resolved, &c. That Sir Wm. Strickland, and Mr. Asherst, shall be employed, and take the Charge of bringing Mr. Waller to be examined before a Committee of the Lords, and some Members of this...; and to deliver him safe again to the Place whence they shall receive him.

Answer returned by the second Messengers, that this House has considered, and do agree, that Mr. Waller be presently sent for, as is desired; and have ordered it accordingly.

Earl of Northumberland.

Mr. Pym reports, that the Earl of Northumberland has been examined; and that he has answered negatively, to all the Interrogatories.

And the House did adjourn itself accordingly.

Relief of Watts.

Ordered, That the Committee for Sequestrations do allow some Maintenance, out of the Goods of Dr. Watts, that are to be sold, for the Relief of Mrs. Watts and her Children.

Ordered, That the Committee for Sequestrations do allow some Maintenance, out of the Goods of Mr. Banckes, that are to be sold, for the Relief of his Wife and Children.
