PRAYERS.

Army Cloathing.

AN Ordinance for providing of Coats, Shirts, Shoes, and Snap Sacks, for Ten thousand Foot Soldiers, at the Rate of Sixteen Shillings for each Soldier, was this Day read; and, by Vote upon the Question, assented unto; and ordered to be sent unto the Lords, for their Concurrence.

Payment to Estwick.

An Ordinance for satisfying of Mr. Stephen Estwick, Ten thousand Pounds, out of the Moiety of the Monies of the Twentieth Part, was this Day read; and, by Vote upon the Question, assented unto; and ordered to be sent unto the Lords, for their Concurrence.

Committees.

Mr. Vassall, Mr. Ashe, Mr. Rolle, are to view the Committees.

Warrant to Yelverton.

Ordered, That Sir Christ. Yelverton shall have Mr. Speaker's Warrant to send Two Sons, a Tutor, and One Servant to Leyden.

Baker's Goods.

Ordered, That the Business concerning the seizing of Sir Jo. Baker's Goods be referred to the Committee for Examinations: And that Mr. Berry, employed therein, do give an Account unto that Committee.

Defence of Gloucester.

Mr. Bainton, Mr. Ashe, Mr. Stevens, do write a Letter to the Governor and Townsmen of Gloucester, to encourage them to hold out in the Defence of that Place.

Sir Ben. Rudyard, Sir Hen. Mildmy, Mr. Grimston, do write a Letter to my Lord General, in Answer to his Letter, and of the Resolution of this House to adhere unto him.

Bedford Assessment.

Ordered, That the Collectors in the County of Bedford do return the Names of all those Persons and Towns in that County, that do refuse the Payment of the weekly Assessment.

Collectors Accounts.

Ordered, That the Collectors in the several Counties be required forthwith to give in their Accounts.

Collector in Surrey.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Commissioners of the Middle Division in Surrey, to appoint a new Collector in the stead of Mr. Gabriell, who is lately deceased: And that they be required to appoint one accordingly.

Surrey Assessment.

Ordered, That the Commissioners in the East and Middle Division of Surrey do meet together, in their respective Divisions; and give special Directions for the levying of the Residue of the Four hundred thousand Pounds Bill, upon the last Payment; according to the Agreement at the last Meeting of the Commissioners, which was given under their Hands; and that they be required to levy the same accordingly.

Prisoners of War.

Mr. Hoyle presented unto this House, from the Committee of this House, and the Committee for the Militia, a List of the Names of such Prisoners as they think fit to be removed, and put a Shipboard: Which was read; and, upon the Question, assented unto.

Removing a Prisoner.

Ordered, That Colonel Goring be removed to the Tower, when the Lord Mayor and Sheriffs are put into the Possession thereof.

Prisoner discharged.

Resolved, &c. That Captain Charters shall be discharged from any further Imprisonment or Restraint; and have Mr. Speaker's Pass to go into Scotland.

Payment to Barrington.

Ordered, That Three hundred and Fifty Pounds, due from this House to Sir Tho. Barrington, which he formerly advanced for the Service of Portsmouth, be forthwith paid unto him, out of the Sequestrations in Essex; and that the Committee for Sequestrations do pay the same accordingly.

Swords, &c. for Army.

Ordered, That Colonel Owen Roe do forthwith deliver unto Captain Wm. Danverse, One thousand Swords out of the Danish Ship, for the Service of the Lord Grey of Ruby: And that this Order shall be a sufficient Discharge unto him for the same.

Ordered, That an Hundred Pair of Pistols be provided for the Lord Grey of Growby; and be paid for out of the Monies of the weekly Assessment in Kent: And the said Pistols to be delivered to Mr. Boardman, his Agent, to be sent to him.

Prisoners.

Ordered, That Mr. Rich. Moore do take the Chair for Prisoners, which Sir Rob. Harley formerly had.

Message to Lords.

Sir Henry Mildmay carried up to the Lords the Ordinance for establishing the Committee at Cambridge; the Ordinance for Pressing; the Votes for making the Earl of Manchester Commander in chief of the Forces raised and to be raised in the Six associated Counties; the Ordinance for Ten thousand Pounds, to be paid to Sir Wm. Waller; the Ordinance for cloathing the Soldiers, and for the paying for them at the Rate of Sixteen Shillings the Soldier; the Ordinance for paying Part of Twelve thousand Pounds, Arrears due to Mr. Stephen Estwick.

He was likewise to desire a Conference with the Lords, upon the late Propositions sent from the Lords.

Propositions to the King.

Reasons to be offered to the Lords, why the House of Commons cannot concur with the Lords in the Matter of the Report concerning the Propositions, were this Day read; and, by Vote upon the Question, assented unto; and ordered to be delivered unto the Lords, at a Conference.

Answer from Lords.

Sir Henry Mildmay brings Answer, that the Lords have passed all the Ordinances but Two: The one is that for Pressing; the other, that for the associated Counties; to which they will speedily send Answer, by Messengers of their own: And do agree to a Conference presently, in the Painted Chamber, as is desired.

Mr. Pym, Mr. Prideaux, and Mr. Whitlock, are appointed Managers of this Conference.

Lords agree to Ordinance.

A Message from the Lords, by Sir Robert Rich and Mr. Page;

The Lords do agree to the Ordinance for the Six associated Counties, with one Amendment: Whereas it is now "They, or any Thirteen of them, whereof Seven to be Deputy Lieutenants;" it should now be "they, or any Nine of them, whereof Three to be Deputy Lieutenants."

They agree likewise, to the Ordinance for Pressing of Soldiers, with one Amendment, viz. "That the menial Servants of the Assistants should be excepted from this Pressing."

The Amendments were read; and, by the Vote upon the Question, assented unto.

Answer returned by the same Messengers; that this House has considered their Lordships Message; and do agree to the Amendments sent down by their Lordships.

Assembly of Divines.

Sir Robert Harley, Serjeant Wilde, Dr. Eden, Mr. Rous, Sir Henry Mildmay, Lord Ruthen, Mr. Cage, Mr. Corbett, Sir Tho. Barrington, Sir Edward Partriche, Mr. Niclas, Mr. Millington, and the Committee of this House appointed to sit with the Assembly, are to take into Consideration the Books and Authors, mentioned in the Petition of the Assembly of Divines, and others; and the Doctrines preached by them: And that they have Power to send for Parties, Witnesses, Writings, Records, &c.: And have Power to consult with such Divines as they shall think fit: And are to meet this Afternoon at Four of Clock in the Court of Wards.

Passes revoked.

Resolved, &c. That all the Orders giving Liberty to Men, Women, Children and Goods, to pass beyond the Seas, except that for Sir Thecdore Mayherne, his Lady, Children, and Goods, shall be revoked; and that That Order concerning Sir Thecdore Mayherne shall be suspended for Three Days. A Copy of this Order to be sent to the Custom-house here in London: And the Officers of the Custom-house are required here forthwith to send Copies of this Order to Gracesend, and to all other Ports of England and Wales: And the Officers of the several and respective Ports, whom it may concern, are hereby strictly enjoined to take care, that this Order be put in due Execution, notwithstanding any former Order or Orders.

Assembly of Divines.

The Divines were called in: And Answer returned unto them by Mr. Speaker, That this House has considered their Petition, and have made a Committee to consider of the Books mentioned in the Petition, and to send for the Authors; and do return you Thanks for your Care.

Coniers' Petition.

Ordered, That the Petition of Sir John Coniers, concerning * Birch, his Servant, be referred to the Committee for Examinations.

Harley's Loan.

Upon Sir Robert Harley's Undertaking to lend the State Three hundred and Twenty Pounds, to pay Sir John Conyers the Arrears of a Debt due unto him; it is Ordered, That it be referred to Mr. Bond, to take care that this Three hundred and Twenty Pounds be forthwith repaid unto Sir Rob. Harley.

The Tower.

Ordered, That Sir Robert Harley, Mr. Corbett, and Mr. Bond, or any Two of them, be required to put the Lord Mayor and Sheriffs of London into the Possession of the Tower this Night.

Seizure of Money, &c.

Ordered, That the Money, Plate, Jewels, and Goods, seized in Keninghall Place, in the County of Norfolk, shall be brought up to the Guildhall in London: And that the Deputy Lieutenants of the County of Norfolk, be required forthwith to send up the said Money, Plate, Jewels, and Goods.

Ordered, That the Duke's Place in Norwich, and the Goods therein, be forthwith seized and kept in safe Custody, till the Title to them be made to appear.

Prisoners.

Ordered, That Mr. Rich. Moore do take the Chair, for Prisoners, which Sir Rob. Harley formerly had.

Ship Cadwaller.

Whereas Cadwaller Jones is Part Owner of a Ship called the Cadwaller, is in Arms with the King; and that there is Freight, for the said Ship, to be paid by Harecourt Leighton Esquire and Geo. Townsend:

It is Ordered, That the Business concerning the said Freight be referred to the Committee of the House of Commons for Sequestrations; who are to call the said Mr. Leighton and Mr. Townsend before them; who are to pay the said Freight, or to shew good Cause to the contrary.
