PRAYERS.

Prisoners of War.

THE humble Petition of Tho. Stockdale Esquire, in the Behalf of the Lord Fairefaxe, Lord General of the Northern Forces, was this Day read.

Ordered, That Colonel Goringe, and Sir Jo. Goodrick, Prisoners of War, taken by the Lord Fairefaxe, and now Prisoners in the Lord Peter's House, be forthwith delivered unto Mr. Stockdale, to be sent to Hull to my Lord Fairefaxe, to be disposed of as his Lordship shall think fit: And that, in the mean time, they be removed to the Tower of London. And likewise, that Major Windeham, now Prisoner * * * *, be delivered to Mr. Stockdale, to be remanded to my Lord Fairefaxe, to Hull. And whereas Sir Tho. Danby, and Major Hilliard, Prisoners of my Lord Fairefaxe's, are escaped from my Lord Peter's House, by the Negligence of the Keeper there: It is Ordered, That Sir Hugh Pollard, Prisoner in the Compter, and one (fn. 1) Prisoner, more, at the nominating of Mr. Stockdale, be delivered unto him, to be sent Prisoners to my Lord Fairefaxe, in lieu of those Two Prisoners of my Lord's escaped.

Ordered, That Sir Jo. Sackvile, now a Prisoner in the Fleet, be continued there a Prisoner, until this House take further Order.

Ordered, That Mr. Hale, formerly a Prisoner in the Lord Peter's House, and ordered to be removed to the Compter in Southwarke; and is, notwithstanding, carried on Shipboard; be forthwith removed to the Compter, according to former Order.

Ordered, That Sir Roger Twisden; formerly a Prisoner in the Compter, Southwarke, and carried on Shipboard, be removed to the Compter again; there to continue a Prisoner, during the Pleasure of the House.

Compounding with Prisoners.

Mr. Bond, Mr. Vassall, Mr. Rolle, Sir Rob. Pye, Sir Hen. Cholmeley, Mr. Reynolds, Sir Neville Poole, Mr. Rich. Moore, Sir Hen. Heyman, Sir Tho. Dacres, Mr. Wheeler, Mr. Trenchard, Mr. Whittacre, Mr. Knightley, Sir Jo. Curson, Sir Peter Wroth, Mr. Rose, Sir Nath. Barnardiston, Mr. Prideaux, Mr. Browne, Mr. Cage, Mr. Winwood, Sir * Wray, Sir H. Vaine;

This Committee, or any Five of them, is appointed to compound with such of the Prisoners, either on Shipboard, or elsewhere, as they shall think fit for Composition; and to report it to the House: And are to meet, at Two post Meridiem, in the Star Chamber.

Prisoner of War.

Ordered, That Captain Bodenham, now a Prisoner on Shipboard, be removed from Shipboard, and remanded to the Prison he was formerly in; there * * * *

Warrant to Ballard, &c.

Ordered, That Colonel Ballard, and Colonel Wm. Cromwell, shall have Mr. Speaker's Warrant to pass beyond the Seas into Holland.

Trinity Minister.

Upon the Return of the Certificate from the Assembly of Divines, in Testimonial of Mr. Julius Herring, as of a Man every way sufficient to the Work of the Ministry; it is Ordered, according to the Desires of the Parishioners of Trinity Parish in Coventry, . . . .

Cholmeleye's Goods.

Ordered, That a Letter be written to my Lord Fairefaxe, from Mr. Speaker, to desire him to deliver Sir H. Cholmeleye's Goods; or to show Cause why he will not.

Message to Lords.

Sir Rob. Pye is appointed to carry to the Lords the Ordinance concerning the Security of the City; to which was added the Clause of seizing the Horses of such as shall refuse the Oath, as well as their Arms: And likewise, to carry up the Ordinance for Kent.

Answer.

Sir Rob. Pye brings Answer, that he had delivered the Two Ordinances to the Lords; that they will take them into speedy Consideration; and return Answer, by Messengers of their own.

Payments to Estwick, &c.

Whereas an Ordinance hath lately passed, that Sir Wm. Waller should receive Ten thousand Pounds, out of the Monies that come in upon Assessment of the Twentieth Part: And whereas another Ordinance has passed, for paying of Mr. Stephen Estwick, by the Treasurers for Money and Plate, sitting at Guildhall, London, Ten thousand Pounds, Part of an Arrear for furnishing of Cloaths and other Necessaries for the Army heretofore; of which Ten thousand Pounds, Sir Wm. Waller has received Nineteen hundred Pounds: It is Ordered, That the said Treasurers shall pay to Mr. Estwick the like Sum of Nineteen hundred Pounds, out of the first of the said Monies that shall come in, upon the Assessment of the said Twentieth Part.

And it is further Ordered, That such Monies as shall, hereafter That, come in upon the said Twentieth Part, shall be divided between Sir Wm. Waller and Mr. Estwick; which is to be paid to them respectively, by the Treasurers aforesaid, until they be satisfied their respective Sums of the said Ten thousand Pounds.

Isle of Wight.

Ordered, That Lieutenant Colonel Owen Rowe do forthwith deliver, out of the Stores that came in the Danish Ship, One Tun of Lead, and One Tun of Match, to the Officers of the Ordinance; to be sent to the Isle of Wight, for the Security of that Place.

Prisoner of War.

Ordered, That Sir Hen. Barkley be remanded from the Ship where be now is, to the Prison from whence he came.

Payment to Estwick, &c.

A Message from the Lords, by Sir Edw. Leech and Dr. Aylett;

Whereas this House has lately sent up an Ordinance for issuing out of Ten thousand Pounds to Mr. Estwick, for cloathing my Lord General's Soldiers; and that an Ordinance is passed to Sir Wm. Waller, whereby they think that Service may be prejudiced: They desire Course may be taken, that my Lord General's Army may receive no Prejudice.

Answer returned by the same Messengers; That this House has considered their Lordships Message; and have settled the Business to the Satisfaction of Mr. Estwick, and to the Dispatch of the Service.

Persons sent for.

Ordered, That Benjamin Potter, Daniel Hovesby, Daniel Potter, and Ellis Parry, shall be forthwith sent for in safe Custody, for disobeying an Order of this House, touching their Contract for Saddles for Ireland.

Prisoner remanded.

Ordered, That Richard Butler, now Prisoner on Shipboard, be remanded to Newgate again; he being removed by a Mistake.

Army Arrears.

Resolved, That Captain Danvers shall have Power to sell the Fourscore and Nine Todds of Wool brought by him from Leicester; and shall receive and take the Proceed thereof, upon Account, towards Payment of the Arrears due to him and his Troop: The which Sum, being the Proceed thereof, is to be defalked out of his Pay and Entertainment: And the said Captain Danvers is hereby required to make Entry of the Sum he shall receive upon this Order, with the Auditors of the Army; And David Pampilion, in whose Custody the said Wool now remains, is hereby required to deliver the said Wool to Captain Danvers, to be sold accordingly.

Escapes of Prisoners.

Ordered, That the Committee for Prisoners do meet, peremptorily, this Afternoon, to examine and consider of the Escapes of Prisoners: And all that will come, are to have Voices.

Ordered, That the Keeper of Newgate Goal, who has suffered Butler, a Rebel of Ireland, to escape, be forthwith committed to safe Custody, that he may be tried for the Escape; and that the Sheriffs of London be forthwith required to take care thereof, and of the Prison and the Prisoners.

Searching Trunks.

Ordered, That Sir Robert Pye, Sir Henry Heyman, and Mr. Long, do open the Trunks in Mr. Trenchard's House, suspected to be the Countess of Banburie's and sent thither by the Earl of Bedford; and, if they shall find them to be the Countess of Banburie's, to send them to Guildhall, London; if the Earl of Bedford's, to secure them there.

Prisoner discharged.

Ordered, That Humphrey Taylor, now Prisoner in the New Prison of Clerkenwell, be forthwith discharged, and released from any further Imprisonment or Restraint.

Proceedings against Francis.

Ordered, That Serjeant Francis be delivered unto Colonel Harvie, to be conveyed unto my Lord General, to be proceeded with by a Council of War: And that the Witnesses and Evidence against him be sent with him.

Advance for Plymouth.

Ordered, That the City of London be desired, that Four thousand Pounds, of the Loan they now advance, may be speedily paid in to the Treasurers at Guildhall, London to be employed for the Service of Plymouth: And that it be left to Mr. Prideaux, Mr. Whaddon, and Mr. Francis Buller, to take care of this Business.

Ordered, That Mr. Pym, and Sir Henry Mildmay, do this Afternoon go to my Lord Mayor, Court of Aldermen, and the Committee for the Militia, to acquaint them with the Consequence and Importance of the Town of Plymouth; and likewise, with the Necessity of my Lord General's sudden moving: And to use all Means for enabling him to march.

Exhibits to Holland.

Ordered, That Mr. Whittacre do To-morrow report the Business concerning the Exhibits exhibited to the States of Holland by Sir William Boswell, the first Business.

Pass to Mewtis.

Ordered, That Sir Thomas Mewtis, a Commander in Holland, shall have Mr. Speaker's Warrant to come out of Holland.

Army Affairs.

Ordered, That, upon the Report from the City of London, by Mr. Pym and Sir Henry Mildmay, the House do take into Consideration to send some Members of their House to my Lord General.

Tilbury Fort.

Ordered, That Sir Thomas Barrington do To-morrow, next after Mr. Whittacre's Report, make Report of the Business concerning Tilbury Fort.
