PRAYERS.

Places in Customs.

ORDERED, That Mr. Tho. Ceely, and Mr. Peter Ceely, of Lime Regis, be recommended to the Commissioners and Collectors of the Customs, to have the Places of Mr. Perrott, and Mr. Skerton, Collector and Surveyor of the Customs in the said Town and Port of Lime Regis; Mr. Tho. Ceely to be Collector; and Mr. Peter Ceely to be Surveyor.

Westminster Cathedral.

Ordered, That the Subdean and Prebends of the Cathedral Church of Westminster, do grant the free Use and Liberty of their Pulpit for such Ministers of God's Word to preach every Sunday in the Afternoon, as shall be nominated and appointed by this House, or any authorized thereunto from this House.

Barcroft's Delinquency, &c.

Ordered, That the Delinquency of Mr. Jo. Barcroft Merchant, be referred to the Examination of the Committee for Prisoners; and that Three hundred Pounds, of such Monies as shall be received from him for his Delinquency, or otherwise, shall be paid in to the Use and Service of Lime Regis, notwithstanding any former Order.

And it is further Ordered, That Sir Tho. Soame do not repay the One thousand Pounds borrowed of Mr. Barcroft's Estate, till he first acquaints the House therewith.

Military Affairs.

A Letter from the Committee at Coventry was this Day read, desiring, that the Parliament's Forces might take the Field, and march to divert the King's Forces, or to assist them; was this Day read; and answered, that Order was taken in this Business.

Ordered, That Mr. Tate do write a Letter in Answer to the Letter from the Committee of Coventry.

Surrey Assessments.

Ordered, That Sir Rob. Wood and Mr. Wood be added to the Committees for the weekly Assessments in the County of Surry; and have the same Power and Authority as the rest of the Committees in that Ordinance have, might, or ought to have.

Proceedings against Hotham.

The humble Petition of Captain Jo. Hotham, of the Twelfth of August, to the honourable House of Commons, laying Imputations upon the Committee, and the Proceedings against him, was this Day read: And it is Ordered, That Captain Hotham do make Answer to the Questions and Interrogatories proposed unto him by the Committee; the House being acquainted with the said Interrogatories and Questions, and holding them fit and reasonable to be propounded; and do enjoin him peremptorily to answer unto them, and to such other as the Committee shall think fit to propound in the whole Progress of his Examination: And the Committee is required to return their Report, with all convenient Speed.

Grant for Navy.

Ordered, That Six thousand Pounds, out of the Fifty thousand Pounds promised to be lent by the City, shall be paid to the Treasurer of the Navy, upon Account, to be employed for the Service of the Fleet: And it is referred to Sir H. Vane, Mr. Green, Mr. Rolle, and Mr. Vassall, to treat with the City about this Six thousand Pounds; and to take care that this Order may be complied with.

Weighing up Ships, &c.

An Ordinance upon the Petition of Dominick Petit, Peter Delignes, and Claudius Faucault, Frenchmen; to enable and authorize the said Dominick Petit, Peter Delignes, and Cladius Faucaut, to draw forth, and take up, Ships, their Lading, and Cannon, out of the Sea, or any River or Creek of the Kingdom, by new Arts and Engines; was this Day read:

And the Question being first put for the Commitment;

It passed with the Negative.

And the Question being then put for the passing it;

Was resolved affirmatively: And that the Lords Concurrence be desired herein.

Sir J. Goodrick.

Ordered, That Sir Jo. Goodrick, Prisoner in the Tower, be there detained, according to former Order, until the further Pleasure of the House be known.

Sir Jo. Wray is appointed to write to my Lord General, to acquaint him with the Reasons and Grounds of this Order.

Warrant to Lady Essex.

Ordered, That the Lady Essex, Wife to Sir Wm. Essex, Prisoner in Oxon, shall have Mr. Speaker's Warrant to go to Oxon, to visit her Husband.

Queen of Bohemia.

A Message from the Lords, by Sir Edward Leech and Dr. Aylett;

The Lords desire a Conference, by Committees of both Houses, presently, in the Painted Chamber, if it may stand with the Conveniency of this House, concerning the Queen of Bohemia.

Answer returned by the same Messengers; that this House has considered their Lordships Message; and will give a present Meeting, as is desired.

Mr. Pym, Sir John Clotworthy, and Sir Benjamin Rudyard, are appointed Reporters of this Conference.

Mr. Pym presents, from the Conference, a Letter from the Queen of Bohemia: The which was read: And then Mr. Pym acquainted the House, that the Earl of Denbigh said that the Lords were extremely sensible, that a Lady of her great Quality and Family should be in these Wants; and, in regard her Supplies must most properly be considered of here, they do recommend her Case to this House.

A Letter, of the same Date and like Nature, being the Nine-and-twentieth of June, from the Queen of Bohemia, was likewise read: And

Prince Elector.

It is Resolved, &c. That Friday next shall be appointed to take into Consideration the Supplies of the Prince Elector.

It is likewise Resolved, &c. That Friday next be appointed to take into Consideration the Supply of the Queen of Bohemia: And Mr. Speaker is to put the House in mind thereof.

Irish Affairs.

A Letter from Ireland, of the Second of August, representing the sad State and Condition of the Army, and Protestants in Lemster and Dublyn, was this Day read: And

It is Ordered, That it be referred to a Committee, to examine by whose Default it is, and by what means, these great Miscarriages have been committed, in Lemster and Dublyn.

Relief of Ireland.

Ordered, That the Ordinance for raising of Two hundred thousand Pounds, for the Relief of Ireland, be read, the first Business, on Wednesday Morning; and that no other Business do intervene.

Seizing Horses.

Mr. Reynolds, Mr. Long, Mr. Moore, Mr. Asherst, Sir H. Mildmay, Sir Tho. Dacres, Mr. Gourdon, Mr. Corbett, Sir Jo. Francklyn, Mr. Blakeston, Sir Henry Heyman, Sir Wm. Litton, Mr. Trenchard, Mr. Ash, Mr. Hill, Mr. Bond, Mr. Vassall, Mr. Niclas, Sir Henry Ludlow;

This Committee is to examine the Business of the seizing of the Horses in Herts'; and to call before them all Parties; and to restore such Horses as they shall think fit: And likewise, to examine the Business concerning the raising of Horse informed to be for the King, in Herts'; and send for Parties, Witnesses, Writing, Records, &c.: And to meet this Afternoon, at Three of Clock, in the Court of Wards.

Passes granted.

Ordered, That a Pass be granted to Monsieur de Bures and Richard de la Vourd his Servant, and Francis Rigault a Frenchman, to go over into France.

Ordered, That Francis Nicholine do pass from Monsieur de Bure's to Oxford, with Letters directed to Secretary Niclas; and to return.
