PRAYERS.

Forces in Kent.

ORDERED, That Mr. Browne, Sir Tho. Walsingham, and Sir Peter Wroth, do acquaint Sir Wm. Waller with the Contents of this Letter from the Deputy Lieutenants, and Committee of Kent; and desire him to take some Course, that the Committee may be acquainted with his Intentions concerning the Commissions, and with the Time and Place that he will appoint for the Rendezvous of the Kentish Forces.

Conference with Lords.

Mr. Crewe reports the Reasons for this House to adhere to Mr. Prinne's being one of the Committee; and that Mr. Speaker shall have Power and Liberty to administer the Oath, as well as the Speaker of the House of Peers: The which were assented; and ordered to be delivered at a Conference.

Mr. Holles, Mr. Crewe, Mr. Cage, are appointed Managers of this Conference.

Sir Rob. Pye is appointed to desire a Conference concerning the Ordinance of Accounts, and the Office of Lieutenant of the Ordnance.

Ordered, That, at the next Conference, Mr. Holles do offer some Reasons, for this House to insist upon their Recommendation of Sir Walt. Erle to the Place of Lieutenant of the Ordnance.

Answer from Lords.

Sir Rob. Pye brings Answer, That the Lords do agree to the Vote for the sending away the Armies: The Order for paying, in Part, the Debt to Turner, &c. at Haberdashers Hall: To the Vote concerning the Commitment of the Lord Lowthian: To the Commission concerning the Master of the Rolls: To the Committees for Northamptonshire and Essex: And as to the Oath to be tendered to the Committees of both Kingdoms, and the Order upon it, they will send Answer by Messengers of their own.

Exchange of Prisoners.

Resolved, &c. That to express the good Affections of this House to the Kingdom of Scotland, they do assent and order, that Colonel Goring shall be exchanged for the Lord Lowthian; provided that the Lord Lowthian be delivered into my Lord General's Quarters, before Colonel Goring be discharged.

Committee of both Kingdoms.

Sir Rob. Pye is likewise to desire the Lords to take the Oath to be tendered to the Members of the Committee of both Kingdoms, into a speedy Consideration, in regard of the Concernment of it.

Assignments to Lord Fairefaxe, &c.

Resolved, &c. That Three Thousand Pounds shall be added to the Sums formerly assigned to the Lord Fairefaxe, for the Service in the North: And it is referred to Mr. Millington, and Sir H. Vane jun. to write a Letter to the Lord Fairefaxe, to acquaint him with the Exchange of Colonel Goring, and the Reasons and Grounds of it.

Ordered, That after the Report concerning the Court of Wards shall be dispatched, that then Mr. Millington shall report the Business concerning the Lord Fairefaxe.

Court of Wards.

An Ordinance for the taking away of the Court of Wards and Liveries, and of all Wardships, Liveries, Primer Seisins, Ouster le Mains, and other Charges arising or growing, for or by reason of any Wardships, of Body or Lands, either of his Majesty, or of any other Lord or Lords, was this Day read the First time; and ordered to be read the Second time on Saturday next, at Ten of Clock; and that Mr. Speaker put the House in mind hereof.

Answer from Lords.

Sir Rob. Pye brings Answer, That, as to the Conference concerning the Ordinance of Accounts, they will give a present Meeting by a Committee of the whole House, as is desired: And, as to the Oath, they will send Answer by Messengers of their own.

Lieutenant of Ordnance.

Sir Rob. Pye is appointed to go to the Lords, to desire, that, at this Conference, this House may offer something concerning the Place of the Lieutenant of the Ordnance.

Archbishop of Canterbury.

Ordered, That the Committee appointed to manage the Evidence at the Trial of the Archbishop of Canterbury, do, peremptorily, meet this Afternoon, at Three of Clock, in the Court of Wards; upon the Distribution of the Parts of the Evidence.

Transporting Corn, &c.

Ordered, That after Sir H. Vane has done his Report, that Mr. Maynard report the Ordinance for preventing the Transportation of Corn, Wool, and Fullers Earth.

Lieutenant of Ordnance.

Sir Rob. Pye brings Answer, That the Lords do agree, that, at this Conference, Consideration should be offered touching Sir Walt. Erle's Ordinance for the Place of the Lieutenant of the Ordnance.

Court of Wards.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee for the King's Revenue, to consider of some Way for bringing in the Arrears of the Court of Wards; and to report it to the House; and to inquire by what Means and Persons, either the Bonds or Monies of the Court of Wards have been conveyed away; and of some Way to give Security to such People as are indebted to the Court of Wards, whose Bonds cannot be had to be delivered unto them; and to take the whole Matter of the Report, this Day made by Sir H. Vane sen. into Consideration; and to deliver their Opinions, upon the whole Matter, to the House.

Hertfordshire Petition.

The House being informed, that divers Gentlemen of the County of Herts were at the Door, desiring to offer something to the House; they were called in:

And Sir Rich. Lucy, in the Name of the rest, preferred a Petition to the House: The which (they being withdrawn) was read.

Ordered, That so soon as the Conference is ended, that this Petition from Hertfordshire, and the Letter from Major General Skippon, be taken into Consideration.

Windesore Castle.

Ordered, That the Business concerning Windesore Castle be taken into Consideration To-morrow Morning.

The Covenant.

Sir Wm. Massam, Mr. Nicoll, Sir Dud. North, Sir Tho. Dacres, Sir Wm. Litton, Sir Jo. Francklyn, Mr. Holland, Mr. Gourdon, Mr. Knightley, Sir Jo. Bampfeild, Mr. Herbert, Mr. Whittacre, Mr. Hoyle, Colonel Venne, Mr. Ellis, Sir Anth. Irby, Mr. Goodwyn, Mr. Pierrepont, Sir Hen. Cholmeley, Sir Edm. Fowell, Mr. Stevens, be added to the Committee for Considerations upon the taking of the Covenant: Which Committee is revived; with the Power before.

Sir Jo. Evelyns.

Ordered, That Mr. Nicoll do bring in the Report concerning the Two Sir Jo. Evelyns.

The Covenant.

Ordered, That Sir Phil. Parker be admitted into the House, to take the Covenant.

Resolved, That the Printer do print Two thousand more of the Books of Covenant, Declarations, &c. for the Service of the House and Commonwealth.

Lord Fairefaxe.

Ordered, That Mr. Millington do, To-morrow Morning, make Report of the Business concerning the Lord Fairefaxe.

Associated Counties.

Ordered, That the Ordinance concerning the Four associated Counties be peremptorily reported To-morrow, the first Business; and that Mr. Speaker put the House in mind hereof.

Free Quarter in Hertfordshire.

Resolved, &c. That a Committee be appointed to examine the Accounts of the County of Herts; and to ascertain the Debt due to that County, for the free Quarter taken by the Soldier; and to inquire after, and examine, the Insolencies committed by any of the Soldiers or Officers, to the end they may be brought to condign Punishment; and to consider in what way the County may be satisfied, for the Debt owing unto them, and the Insolencies committed towards them.

They have sent down an Ordinance concerning the Countess of Exeter's Chaplain; in which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

Hertfordshire Petition.

The Gentlemen of Hertfordshire were again called in: And Mr. Speaker, by the Command of the House, acquainted them, that the House had considered their Petition; and had put it into a Way for the Satisfaction of the County.

Recruiting the Army.

Ordered, That the Business concerning recruiting the Lord General's Army be resumed To-morrow Morning.
