Prayers.

AN Ordinance for securing and reimbursing, out of the Receipts of the Excise, the Sum of Two thousand Pounds, advanced by the Commissioners of Excise, upon an Ordinance of 13 Augusti 1645, was this Day read; and, upon the Question, passed; and ordered to be sent unto the Lords for their Concurrence.

Mr. Greene is appointed to carry it to the Lords, with the rest of the Ordinances and Businesses passed.

Ordered, That the Petition of the Committee for the County of Derby be read on Thursday Morning next, the first Business.

Ordered, That Mr. Challenor do make the Report concerning the Breach of the Articles of Oxford upon Thursday Morning next.

It is Resolved, &c. That this House doth accept of the Sum of Two thousand Pounds of Sir John Lowther, of Lowther in the County of Westmerland, Baronet, for a Fine, for his Delinquency: His Offence being, Taking a Commission to raise a Regiment against the Parliament: His personal Estate is to the Value of Six hundred Pounds: His real Estate is Fourteen hundred and Eighteen Pounds; whereof Four hundred and Seventy Pounds is in Reversion; and the other Part thereof charged with divers great Engagements.

An Ordinance for granting a Pardon unto Sir John Lowther, of Lowther in the County of Westmorland, Baronet, for his Delinquency, and for Discharge of the Sequestration of his Estate, was this Day read; and, upon the Question, passed; and ordered to be sent unto the Lords for their Concurrence.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth accept of the Sum of Three hundred and Eighty Pounds of John Lamplugh, of Lamplugh in the County of Cumberland, Esquire, for a Fine, for his Delinquency: His Offence is, Bearing Arms against the Parliament: His real Estate, Two hundred and Thirty Pounds per Annum; a personal Estate to the Value of Two hundred Pounds; which so ariseth, by reason that Eighty Pounds per Annum, of the said Two hundred and Thirty Pounds per Annum, is in Reversion.

An Ordinance for granting a Pardon unto John Lamplugh, of Lamplugh in the County of Cumberland, Esquire, for his Delinquency, and for Discharge of the Sequestration of his Estate, was this Day read; and, upon the Question, passed; and ordered to be sent unto the Lords for their Concurrence.

Ordered, That Sir John Lowther and Mr. John Lamplugh be discharged from being One of the Committee of of Cumberland, or of any other Committee.

That this House doth accept of the Sum of Fourteen hundred and Thirty Pounds of Sir William Walter, of Sarsdon in the County of Oxon, Baronet, for a Fine, for his Delinquency: His Offence is, Deserting his Habitation, and assisting the Forces raised against the Parliament: His Estate, in Fee, is Seven hundred and Three Pounds per Annum; in old Rents, Fifty Pounds per Annum: Out of which Estate Eighty Pounds per Annum, for One Life, is issuing; and Sixty Pounds per Annum, for Forty Years.

An Ordinance for granting a Pardon unto Sir William Walter, of Sarsdon in the County of Oxon, Baronet, for his Delinquency, and for Discharge of the Sequestration of his Estate, was this Day read; and, upon the Question, passed; and ordered to be sent unto the Lords for their Concurrence.

That this House doth accept of the Sum of Six hundred Pounds of Adam Cleypoole, of West-Deeping in the County of Lincolne, Gentleman: His Offence is, Bearing Arms against the Parliament: His Estate, in Fee, is Two hundred and Seventy Pounds per Annum; and he hath a Rent-Charge of Fifty Pounds per Annum.

An Ordinance for granting a Pardon unto Adam Cleypoole, of West-Deeping in the County of Lincolne, Gentleman, for his Delinquency, and for Discharge of the Sequestration of his Estate, was this Day read; and, upon the Question, passed; and ordered to be sent unto the Lords for their Concurrence.

An Ordinance for granting a Pardon unto James Fawcett, of Goswick in the County of Northumberland, Gentleman, for his Delinquency, and for Discharge of the Sequestration of his Estate, was this Day read; and, upon the Question, passed; and ordered to be sent unto the Lords for their Concurrence.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth accept of the Sum of One hundred and Fifty Pounds of Richard Thompson, of Killam in the County of Yorke, Gentleman, for a Fine, for his Delinquency: His Offence is, Assisting the Forces raised against the Parliament: He hath an Estate, for Three Lives, to the Value of Eighty-seven Pounds and Twelve Shillings per Annum; in Fee-Tail, Twenty-nine Pounds and Ten Shillings per Annum; Seventy-and-six Pounds and Seven Shillings per Annum more: And his personal Estate is to the Value of Two hundred and Forty Pounds: Out of which Estate a Rent-Charge of One hundred Pounds per Annum, with some other Charges, is issuing.

An Ordinance for granting a Pardon unto Richard Thompson, of Killans in the County of Yorke, Gentleman, for his Delinquency, and for Discharge of the Sequestration of his Estate, was this Day read; and, upon the Question, passed; and ordered to be sent unto the Lords for their Concurrence.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth accept of the Sum of Two thousand Three hundred Eighty-four Pounds Seventeen Shillings and Four-pence of Sir Richard Graham, of Norton in the County of Yorke, Knight and Baronet, for a Fine, for his Delinquency: His Offence is, Bearing Arms against the Parliament: He hath an Estate, in Tail, of Twelve hundred Forty-and-six Pounds per Annum; of Two hundred and Twelve Pounds for Fourteen Years to come; and a customary Lease, in Nature of a Copyhold, of Inheritance, of Thirty-six Pounds per Annum: Out of which issues, in Fee-farm-Rents, for ever, One hundred Sixty-and-four Pounds and Ten Shillings per Annum.

An Ordinance for granting a Pardon unto Sir Richard Graham, of Norton in the County of Yorke, Knight and Baronet, for his Delinquency, and for Discharge of the Sequestration of his Estate, was this Day read; and, upon the Question, passed; and ordered to be sent unto the Lords for their Concurrence.

That this House doth accept of the Sum of Thirty Pounds of Daniel Colwell, of London, Gentleman, for a Fine, for his Delinquency: His Offence is, Residing in the Enemies Quarters: And his Estate, in Debts, Three hundred Pounds: Also of Francis Burges, of Westminster, Gentleman, the Sum of Fifty Pounds, for a Fine, for his Delinquency: His Offence is, Bearing Arms against the Parliament: And his Estate, in Lands, for One-and-twenty Years to come, is Thirty-eight Pounds Thirteen Shillings and Four-pence per Annum.

An Ordinance for granting a Pardon unto Daniel Colwell, of London, Gentleman, Francis Burges, of Westminster, Gentleman, and Nicolas Horne, of Westminster, Yeoman, for their respective Delinquencies, was this Day read; and, upon the Question, passed; and ordered to be sent unto the Lords for their Concurrence.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth accept of the Sum of Two hundred and Twenty Pounds of Francis Fry, of Ewerne in the County of Dorsett, Gentleman, for a Fine, for his Delinquency: His Offence is, Levying Monies for the Forces raised against Parliament: His Estate, in Fee, is Thirty Pounds per Annum, and Two hundred and Sixty Pounds per Annum, Part for Life, and Part for Leases for Fourteen Years and Eighteen Years to come.

An Ordinance for granting a Pardon unto Francis Fry, of Ewerne-Minster in the County of Dorsett, Gentleman, for his Delinquency, and for Discharge of the Sequestration of his Estate, was this Day read; and, upon the Question, passed; and ordered to be sent unto the Lords for their Concurrence.

That this House doth accept of the Sum of Fifteen hundred and Sixty Pounds of George Trevilian, of Nettlecombe in the County of Somersett, Esquire, for a Fine, for his Delinquency: His Offence is, Bearing Arms against the Parliament: His Estate, in Fee, Five hundred and Fifty Pounds per Annum; in old Rents, Seventy-seven Pounds per Annum; and, in chief Rents, Two Pounds and Sixteen Shillings per Annum.

An Ordinance for granting a Pardon unto George Trevilian, of Nettlecombe in the County of Somersett, Esquire, for his Delinquency, and for Discharge of the Sequestration of his Estate, was this Day read; and, upon the Question, passed; and ordered to be sent unto the Lords for their Concurrence.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth accept of the Sum of One hundred and Seventy Pounds of John Harvey, of Chard in the County of Somersett, Merchant, for a Fine, for his Delinquency: His Offence is, Contributing to the Forces raised against the Parliament: His Estate, in Fee, Forty Pounds per Annum; Five Pounds per Annum, for Life; Twelve Pounds per Annum, for Three Years to come; and Four-and-twenty Pounds per Annum, in Copyhold Lands in the North: Out of which Estate Forty Shillings per Annum is paid to the Lord of the Manor: And he hath Three hundred Pounds in Debts owing to him.

An Ordinance for granting a Pardon unto John Harvey, of Chard in the County of Somersett, Merchant, for his Delinquency, and for Discharge of the Sequestration of his Estate, was this Day read; and, upon the Question, passed; and ordered to be sent unto the Lords for their Concurrence.

That this House doth accept of the Sum of Fourteen hundred Fifty-eight Pounds of Henry Hunlocke, of Wingerworth in the County of Darby, Esquire, for a Fine, for his Delinquency: His Offence is, Bearing Arms against the Parliament: His Estate is Seven hundred Sixty-two Pounds Thirteen Shillings and Fourpence per Annum: Out of which is paid to his Mother, for her Life, the Sum of Sixty-six Pounds Thirteen Shillings and Four-pence per Annum.

An Ordinance for granting a Pardon unto Henry Hunlock, of Wingerworth in the County of Darby, Esquire, for his Delinquency, and for Discharge of the Sequestration of his Estate, was this Day read; and, upon the Question, passed; and ordered to be sent unto the Lords for their Concurrence.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth accept of the Sum of One hundred Thirty-and-six Pounds Six Shillings and Eight-pence of James Cole, of Newcastle upon Tyne, Merchant, for a Fine, for his Delinquency: His Offence is, Assisting the Forces raised against the Parliament: His Estate Five-and-twenty Pounds per Annum for One thousand Years; Seventeen Pounds and Ten Shillings per Annum, in Fee; and a personal Estate to the Value of Five hundred and Thirteen Pounds and Seven Shillings.

An Ordinance for granting a Pardon unto James Cole, of Newcastle upon Tyne, Merchant, for his Delinquency, and for Discharge of the Sequestration of his Estate, was this Day read; and, upon the Question, passed; and ordered to be sent unto the Lords for their Concurrence.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth accept of the Sum of Four hundred and Eighty Pounds of Edward Farneham, of Querndon in the County of Leicester, Esquire, for a Fine, for his Delinquency: His Offence is, Living in the Enemies Quarters: His Estate, in Fee, Three hundred Pounds per Annum: Whereof Sixty Pounds per Annum is demised, for Ninety-nine Years, to Mr. Francis Farneham his Brother; and, out of the Remainder, Sixty Pounds per Annum, more, is payable for One Life.

An Ordinance for granting a Pardon unto Edward Farneham, of Querndon in the County of Leicester, Esquire, for his Delinquency, and for Discharge of the Sequestration of his Estate, was this Day read; and, upon the Question, passed; and ordered to be sent unto the Lords for their Concurrence.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth accept of the Sum of One hundred Pounds of Jane Crosland, of Helmesley in the County of Yorke, Widow, for a Fine, for her Delinquency: Her Offence is, Voluntarily contributeing to the Forces raised against the Parliament: And her Estate One hundred One Pounds and Ten Shillings per Annum, for her Life.

An Ordinance for granting a Pardon unto, Jane Crosland, of Helmesley in the County of Yorke, Widow, for her Delinquency, and for Discharge of the Sequestration of her Estate, was this Day read; and, upon the Question, passed; and ordered to be sent unto the Lords for their Concurrence.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth accept of the Sum of Eighteen hundred Seventy-eight Pounds of Sir Thomas Delves, of Doddington in the County of Chester, Knight and Baronet, for a Fine, for his Delinquency: His Offence is, Deserting his Habitation, and residing in a Garison of the Enemies: He hath an Estate, in Tail, of Four hundred Ninety-and-two Pounds per Annum; a like Estate of Twenty Pounds per Annum, in old Rents; Thirtyfive Pounds per Annum, in Fee; Eighty Pounds per Annum, for Three Lives: Out of which Estate Five Pounds Eighteen Shillings and Four-pence, for ever, and Thirty Pounds One Shilling and Eight-pence, for One Life, is issuing.

An Ordinance for granting a Pardon unto Sir Thomas Delves, of Doddington in the County of Chester, Knight and Baronet, for his Delinquency, and for Discharge of the Sequestration of his Estate, was this Day read; and, upon the Question, passed; and ordered to be sent unto the Lords for their Concurrence.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth accept of the Sum of One hundred and Thirty Pounds of Lucian Lewins, of Rush in the County of Yorke, Gentleman, for a Fine, for his Delinquency: His Offence being, Bearing Arms against the Parliament: And his Estate Eighty Pounds per Annum, in Fee: Whereof Twenty-six Pounds Six Shillings and Eight . . . . per Annum is paid to his Mother, for her Thirds.

An Ordinance for granting a Pardon unto Lucian Lewins, of Rush in the County of Yorke, Gentleman, for his Delinquency, and for Discharge of the Sequestration of his Estate, was this Day read; and, upon the Question, passed; and ordered to be sent unto the Lords for their Concurrence.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth accept of the Sum of Two hundred and Twenty Pounds of Charles Tankred, of Arden in the County of Yorke, Gentleman, for a Fine, for his Delinquency: His Offence being, Raising Maintenance for the Forces levied against the Parliament: He hath an Estate, in Tail, of Ninety-three Pounds Six Shillings and Eight-pence per Annum; a Rent-Charge, for Life, of Forty Pounds per Annum; and, in personal Estate, to the Value of Fifty Pounds.

An Ordinance for granting a Pardon unto Charles Tankred, of Arden in the County of Yorke, Gentleman, for his Delinquency, and for Discharge of the Sequestration of his Estate, was this Day read; and, upon the Question, passed; and ordered to be sent unto the Lords for their Concurrence.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth accept of the Sum of One hundred and Twenty Pounds of Nicolas Moseley, of the Ancoates in the County of Lancaster, Gentleman, for a Fine, for his Delinquency: His Offence being, Residing in the Enemies Quarters: His Estate, in Fee, Sixty Pounds per Annum: Out of which an Annuity of Twenty Pounds per Annum, for One Life, is payable: He hath likewise Twenty Pounds per Annum in Reversion.

An Ordinance for granting a Pardon unto Nicolas Moseley, of the Ancoates in the County of Lancaster, Gentleman, for his Delinquency, and for Discharge of the Sequestration of his Estate, was this Day read; and, upon the Question, passed; and ordered to be sent unto the Lords for their Concurrence.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth accept of the Sum of One hundred and Ninety Pounds of Edward Yarbury, of Trowbridge in the County of Wiltes, Gentleman, for a Fine, for his Delinquency: His Offence is, Being a Commissioner for sequestring the Estates of well-affected Persons to the Parliament: His Estate is One hundred Pounds per Annum: Part whereof is in Leases for Lives.

An Ordinance for granting a Pardon unto Edward Yarbury, of Trowbridge in the County of Wiltes, Gentleman, for his Delinquency, and for Discharge of the Sequestration of his Estate, was this Day read; and, upon the Question, passed; and ordered to be sent unto the Lords for their Concurrence.

Resolved, &c. An Ordinance for granting a Pardon unto Richard Oakeley, of Oakeley in the County of Salop, Esquire, for his Delinquency, and for Discharge of the Sequestration of his Estate, was this Day read; and, upon the Question, passed; and ordered to be sent unto the Lords for their Concurrence.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth accept of the Sum of Eleven hundred Thirty-and-six Pounds of John Gifford, of Brightley in the County of Devon, Esquire, for a Fine, for his Delinquency: His Offence is, Bearing Arms against the Parliament: His Estate, in old Rents, Eighty Pounds per Annum; in Fee, Three hundred and Fifty Pounds per Annum; in Demesne, in Fee, Ten Pounds per Annum, for Twenty Years; and the Value of One hundred Pounds per Annum, in personal Estate: Out of which Estate Sixty-four Pounds per Annum, for One Life, is payable.

An Ordinance for granting a Pardon unto John Gifford, of Brightley, in the County of Devon, Esquire, for his Delinquency, and for Discharge of the Sequestration of his Estate, was this Day read; and, upon the Question, passed; and ordered to be sent unto the Lords for their Concurrence.

Ordered, That Sir Christopher Yelverton, Knight and Baronet, a Member of this House, shall have Leave to go into the Country.

Ordered, &c. That the Committee of the West do examine how, and in what manner, Mr. John Gifford obtained a Bond of Robert Osborne, for the Payment to him of the Sum of Fifty Pounds; and whether the same were so entered into for Monies lent, or upon any valuable Consideration, or not, or by Duress: And in case that the said Bond was unduly obtained, that then the said Committee do take care the same may be forthwith cancelled; or otherwise to report the whole Business to the House.

Sir Arthur Haselrigg reports, from the Members appointed to confer with the Scotts Commissioners, their Answer to the Proposition concerning the Sum of Money propounded to be paid unto them, in present, upon the Marching of their Armies: The which was read; and an Order, made in the Parliament of Scotland, mentioned in the said Paper annexed; and likewise a general View of the Accompts of the Scottish Armies, since their coming into this Kingdom.

Upon reading the Paper given in by the Commissioners of Scotland, of the Eighteenth of August; by which it is intimated, That they will be willing, for Saving of Time, to take a Sum in gross, for the Discharging of the Demands therein mentioned;

The House, before they enter into Consideration of those Particulars, which may admit of great Debate, and just Exceptions, do give Power to the Members of this House that are of the Committee of both Kingdoms, or any Four of them, to confer with the Scotts Commissioners, and to know, what Sum will satisfy them for all Demands from the Kingdom of England, expressed in that Paper; and what Sum they expect to be paid, in present, before their Disbanding, and what for the future, and at what Times: And they are to confer with them this Afternoon; and to make Report To-morrow Morning.

These Words, "and just Exceptions," were, upon the Question, added to the Order above-said.

Sir John Stowell, being brought by the Serjeant to the Bar, and, by Mr. Speaker, commanded to kneel, refused; desiring first to be informed what was his Offence.

He was thereupon commanded presently to withdraw.

Resolved, &c. That Sir John Stowell be forthwith committed Prisoner to Newgate for High Treason, for levying War against the Parliament.

Ordered, &c. That the Sheriffs of London and Middlesex be required to take special Care, that Sir John Stowell, committed, by Warrant of this House, Prisoner to Newgate, for High-Treason, for levying War against the Parliament, be kept in sure and safe Custody.

Ordered, &c. That Mr. Palmer, Mr. Walker, Mr. Harrington, Mr. Serle, Sir Thomas Wroth, Mr. Blague, and Colonel Popham, or any Two of them, do take care, that there be a Prosecution and an Indictment prepared against Sir John Stowell, at the next Assizes to be held for the County of Somersett, for High-Treason, for his levying War against the King, Parliament, and Kingdom of England.

A Letter from aboard the Swann Regis, of 10 Augusti 1646, from Captain Clerke; together with a Copy of Articles inclosed, concerning the Peace in Ireland; also a Letter from Dublyn, of 7 Augusti 1646, signed R. H. concerning the Peace there made with the Rebels; were all this Day read.
