MR. John Ashe reports divers Fines and Compositions from the Committee at Goldsmiths Hall: Whereupon it is resolved, as followeth; viz.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth accept of the Sum of Seven hundred Forty-five Pounds, for a Fine, for the Delinquency of William Davenport, of Broomhall in the County of Chester, Esquire: His Offence, That he adhered to the Forces raised against the Parliament: He rendered in December 1644: His Estate, in Fee Tail, per Annum, One hundred and Seventy Pounds; in old Rents, per Annum, Forty Pounds; in Reversion, after One Life, per Annum, One hundred and Thirty Pounds; for his Wife's Life, per Annum, Fifty-three Pounds; in old Rents, for one Life, per Annum, Thirteen Pounds Six Shillings and Eight-pence: Out of which issues, for ever, per Annum, Two Pounds Two Shillings and Six-pence; for One Life, per Annum, Six Pounds Thirteen Shillings and Fourpence: Which leaves the Fine, at a Tenth, Seven hundred Forty-five Pounds.

Delinquents.

An Ordinance for granting a Pardon unto William Davenport, of Bromhall in the County of Chester, Esquire, for his Delinquency, and for taking off the Sequestration of his Estate, was this Day read; and, upon the Question, passed; and ordered to be sent unto the Lords for their Concurrence.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth accept of the Sum of Two thousand Seventy-two Pounds, for a Fine, for the Delinquency of Sir Henry Hastings, of Brounston in the County of Leicester, Knight: His Offence, That he left his Habitation, and resided in the Enemies Quarters: He rendered before December 1645: His Estate, in Fee, in Possession, per Annum, One thousand and Fifty-one Pounds Six Shillings and Four-pence; personal Estate, Four hundred and Seventy-seven Pounds Sixteen Shillings and Eight-pence: Out of which issues, for ever, per Annum, Thirty-nine Pounds Two Shillings and Ten-pence: Which being allowed, leaves the Fine, at a Tenth, Two thousand Seventy-two Pounds.

An Ordinance for granting a Pardon unto Sir Henry Hastings, of Braunston in the County of Leicester, Knight, for his Delinquency, and for taking off the Sequestration of his Estate, was this Day read; and, upon the Question, passed; and ordered to be sent unto the Lords for their Concurrence.

An Ordinance for granting a Pardon unto Roger Owen, of Salisbury in the County of Salop, Esquire, for his Delinquency, and for taking off the Sequestration of his Estate, was this Day read; and, upon the Question, passed; and ordered to be sent to the Lords for their Concurrence.

That this House doth accept of the Sum of Two thousand Eight hundred Fifty-four Pounds, for a Fine, for the Delinquency of Francis Lord Dunsmore: His Offence, That he left the Parliament, and went to Oxford, and there assisted the Forces raised against them: Rendered upon those Articles: His Estate, in Fee, per Annum, Two thousand Four hundred Thirty-three Pounds Four Shillings and Four-pence; for One Life, per Annum, Six hundred Forty-four Pounds Six Shillings and Eightpence; in Reversion, after Two Lives, per Annum, Fifty Pounds, for Eight Years to come, per Annum, Fifty Pounds; for Twenty Years to come, per Annum, Eightyeight Pounds; personal Estate, Four hundred Pounds: Out of which issues, for one Life, per Annum, Four hundred Ninety-one Pounds Thirteen Shillings and Fourpence; for ever, per Annum, Twenty-three Pounds Six Shillings and Eight-pence; for Three Years, per Annum, One hundred and Twenty Pounds; and there is a Debt of Fifteen thousand Pounds charged upon the Lands: Which leaves the Fine, at a Tenth, Three thousand Six hundred and Ninety-four Pounds: But, if his Lordship shall settle the Rectory of Thurleston in the County of Warwick, for Increase of Maintenance to the Ministers of such Places, for ever, as the Parliament shall appoint; then Eight hundred and Forty Pounds of the said Fine is to be abated: Which will remain Two thousand Eight hundred Fifty-four Pounds.

An Ordinance for granting a Pardon unto Francis Lord Dunsmore, for his Delinquency, and for taking off the Sequestration of his Estate, was this Day read; and, upon the Question, passed; and ordered to be sent unto the Lords for their Concurrence.

Delinquents.

That this House doth accept of the Sum of Four hundred and Fourscore Pounds, for a Fine, for the Delinquency of Gabriell Hippesley, of Little Marlow in the County of Bucks, Esquire, His Offence, That he deserted his Dwelling, and went to Oxford: He rendered upon the Articles of the Surrender thereof: His Estate, for Life, per Annum, Four hundred and Eighty Pounds: For which his Fine, at a Tenth, is Four hundred and Fourscore Pounds.

An Ordinance for granting a Pardon unto Gabriell Hippesley, of Little Marlow in the County of Bucks, Esquire, for his Delinquency, and for taking off the Sequestration of his Estate, was this Day read; and, upon the Question, passed; and ordered to be sent unto the Lords for their Concurrence.

That this House doth accept of the Sum of Four hundred Thirty-eight Pounds, for a Fine, for the Delinquency of Timothy Tirrell, of Oakley in the County of Bucks, Esquire: His Offence, That he was in Arms against the Parliament: He rendered upon Oxford Articles: His Estate, in Fee, in Possession, per Annum, One hundred Pounds; in Reversion, per Annum, Two hundred Thirtyfive Pounds: For which his Fine, at a Tenth, is Four hundred Thirty-five Pounds.

An Ordinance for granting a Pardon unto Timothy Tirrell, of Oakeley in the County of Bucks, Esquire, for his Delinquency, and for taking off the Sequestration of his Estate, was this Day read; and, upon the Question, passed; and ordered to be sent unto the Lords for their Concurrence.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth accept of the Sum of Four hundred and Five Pounds Six Shillings and Eightpence for a Fine, for the Delinquency of Thomas Bland the younger, of Kippax Park in the County of York, Esquire: His Offence, That he adhered unto and assisted the Forces raised against the Parliament: He rendered in November 1645: His Estate, in Fee, in Possession, per Annum, Two hundred and One Pounds Six Shillings and Eight-pence; in Reversion, per Annum, Thirty Pounds: Out of which issue, for ever, per Annum, Thirteen Pounds Six Shillings and Eight-pence: Which leaves the Fine, at a Tenth, Four hundred and Five Pounds Six Shillings and Eight-pence.

An Ordinance for granting a Pardon unto Thomas Bland, the younger, of Kippax Park in the County of York, Esquire, for his Delinquency, and for taking off the Sequestration of his Estate, was this Day read; and, upon the Question, passed; and ordered to be sent unto the Lords for their Concurrence.

That this House doth accept of the Sum of Four hundred Threescore and Three Pounds and Ten Shillings, for a Fine, for the Delinquency of Thomas Harrington, of Booth in the County of Lincoln, Esquire: His Offence, That he adhered to the Forces raised against the Parliament: He rendered upon the Articles of Newark: His Estate, in Fee Tail, per Annum, Two hundred and Eighty-five Pounds; in Fee, in Possession, per Annum, Twelve Pounds: For which his Fine, at a Sixth, is Four hundred Threescore and Three Pounds and Ten Shillings.

An Ordinance for granting a Pardon unto Thomas Harrington, of Booth in the County of Lincoln, Esquire, for his Delinquency, and for taking off the Sequestration of his Estate, was this Day read; and, upon the Question, passed; and ordered to be sent unto the Lords for their Concurrence.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth accept of the Sum of Three hundred and Fifty Pounds, for a Fine for the Delinquency of Edward Kirton, of Castle Cary in the County of Somersett, Esquire: His Offence, That, being a Member of the House of Commons he deserted the Parliament and sat in the Assembly at Oxford: He rendered in April 1646: His Estate, for Two Lives, per Annum, Fifty-five Pounds; for Three Lives, per Annum, One hundred and Twelve Pounds Ten Shillings; personal Estate, Forty Pounds: For which his Fine, at a Third, is Five hundred Pounds: But, if he, and his Wife, settle Twenty Pounds per Annum, for their Term of Three Lives, upon the Minister of Castle Cary; then the Fine to be Three hundred and Fifty Pounds.

An Ordinance for granting a Pardon unto Edward Kirton, of Castle Carey in the County of Somersett, Esquire, for his Delinquency, and for taking off the Sequestration of his Estate, was this Day read; and, upon the Question, passed; and ordered to be sent to the Lords for their Concurrence.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth accept of the Sum of Four hundred Pounds, for a Fine, for the Delinquency of Sir Richard Hubert, of Langley in the County of Bucks, Knight: His Offence, That he assisted the Forces raised against the Parliament: He rendered upon the Articles of Oxford: His Estate, in Fee, in Possession, per Annum, Two hundred Pounds: For which his Fine, at a Tenth, is Four hundred Pounds.

An Ordinance for granting a Pardon unto Sir Richard Hubert, of Langley in the County of Bucks, Knight, for his Delinquency, and for taking off the Sequestration of his Estate, was this Day read; and, upon the Question, passed; and ordered to be sent unto the Lords for their Concurrence.

That this House doth accept of the Sum of Six hundred and Thirty Pounds, for a Fine, for the Delinquency of William Walrond, of Wells in the County of Somersett, Esquire: His Offence, That he assisted the Forces raised against the Parliament: He rendered in November 1645: His Estate, in Fee, in old Rents, per Annum, Twenty-one Pounds; in Demesne and Rack Rents, Two hundred and Ninety-eight Pounds Ten Shillings; for One Life, per Annum, Forty-five Pounds; for Thirty Years, per Annum, Eight Pounds Eleven Shillings; for Twenty-seven Years, per Annum, Twenty-seven Pounds Seven Shillings; out of which issues, for ever, per Annum, Seven Pounds Seven Shillings and Three-pence; for One Life, per Annum, Fifty-two Pounds: Which leaves the Fine, at a Tenth, Six hundred and Thirty Pounds.

An Ordinance for granting a Pardon unto Wm. Walrond, of Wells in the County of Somersett, Esquire, for his Delinquency, and for taking off the Sequestration of his Estate, was this Day read; and, upon the Question, passed; and ordered to be sent to the Lords for their Concurrence.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth accept of the Sum of Four hundred and Sixty Pounds, for a Fine, for the Delinquency of Christopher Hall, of Newsham in the County Palatine of Duresme, Gentleman: His Offence, That he deserted his Dwelling, and went to Oxford: He rendered upon those Articles: His Estate, in Fee, in Possession, per Annum, Two hundred and Thirty Pounds: For which his Fine, at Two Years Value, is Four hundred and Sixty Pounds.

An Ordinance for granting a Pardon unto Christofer Hall, of Newsham in the County Palatine of Duresme, Gentlemen, was this Day read; and, upon the Question, passed; and ordered to be sent to the Lords for their Concurrence.

Mr. Herle.

Ordered, That Mr. Herle have Leave to return home out of Scotland.

Mounsell's Arrears.

Whereas it appears, by a Certificate from the Committee for the taking the Accompts of the Kingdom, That the Sum of Seven hundred Ninety-one Pounds is due unto Captain Peter Mounsell, upon his Arrears, in the Service of the Parliament: It is Ordered, That the said Sum of Seven hundred Ninety-one Pounds be paid unto Mrs. Margarett Mounsell, Administratrix to her Brother, and Mrs. Mary Mounsell his other Sister, out of such concealed Delinquents Estates, as the said Margarett and Mary Mounsell, or either of them, shall discover unto the Committee at Haberdashers Hall, or out of the Surplusage of such Estates of Delinquents as have compounded at Goldsmiths Hall at Under-values, as the said Margarett and Mary Mounsell shall discover, as aforesaid: And the said Committee at Haberdashers Hall is hereby authorized to receive such Discoveries, and proceed towards such Delinquents and Discoveries, in like manner as in other Cases of the like Nature: And are required to pay the said Sum of Seven hundred Ninety-one Pounds to the said Margarett and Mary Mounsell, out of such Discoveries, accordingly.

Hallowes' Claims.

The humble Petition of Nathaniell Hallowes Esquire, was this Day read.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee at Goldsmiths Hall, to consider of some Way, How Mr. Nathaniell Hallowes may be satisfied the Sum of Three hundred Pounds, in lieu of the Benefit of the Wardship of Mr. Fitzherbert of Tissington in the County of Derby, formerly granted to the said Mr. Hallowes: And that the Fine of the said Mr. Fitzherbert be respited in the mean time.

Leave of Absence.

Ordered, That Mr. Nathaniel Fienes, Sir Wm. Brereton, and Mr. Anlaby, have Leave to go into the Country.

Lord Riche's Delinquency.

Resolved, &c. That the Fine set upon Robert Lord Rich, for his Delinquency, be, and is, remitted.

Resolved, &c. That the Ordinance, now tendered for Pardon of the Delinquency of Robert Lord Rich, be recommitted.

Gosse's Petition.

The humble Petition of Samuell Gosse, Citizen of London, was this Day read: And

It is Ordered, That this Petition be referred to the Consideration of the Members of this House that are of the Committee at Goldsmiths Hall; to examine and state the Matter of Fact; and to report it to the House, at the same time when they report the Ordinance for Pardon of the Delinquency of Robert Lord Riche.

Ordered, That Sir Thomas Wroth do acquaint the Earl of Warwicke with this Petition.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee for Grievances, to consider of and prepare an Ordinance for Redress of the Grievances mentioned in the Petition of Mr. Samuell Gosse, occasioned by the Abuse of the Privilege of Peerage, set forth in the said Petition; and of all other Grievances and Abuses of the like Nature.

It is further Ordered, That Dr. Palmer and Mr. Robert Andrewes be added to the said Committee.

Message to Lords.

Lord Carre carried to the Lords, for their Concurrence, the Vote for giving Leave to Mr. Herle to return out of Scotland; and the Votes for admitting Sir John Strangewayes, and his Son Giles Strangeways, to Composition: And was to put the Lords in mind of the Ordinance, some time since sent to them, for the Assessments of Sixty thousand Pounds, per mensem, for Maintenance of the Forces under the Command of Sir Thomas Fairefax.

Answer.

Lord Carre brings Answer, That the Lords do agree to the Vote for giving Leave to Mr. Herle to return: To the rest, they will send Answer by Messengers of their own.

Sale of Bishops Lands.

Mr. John Corbett reports the Amendments to the additional Ordinance, for the Explanation, and better Execution, of former Ordinances for the Sale of the Lands and Possessions of the late Archbishops, within the Realm of England, and Dominion of Wales: The which were twice read; and, upon the Question, assented unto.

An additional Clause, touching the Payment to the Contractors Salaries, out of the Forfeitures, was twice read; and, upon the Question, rejected.

Then the Ordinance, so amended, upon the Question, passed; and ordered to be sent unto the Lords for their Concurrence.

Mr. John Corbett reports the Amendments to the Ordinance concerning the Rates to be observed in the Sale of Reversions of Bishops Lands: The which were twice read; and, upon the Question, assented unto: And then the Ordinance, so amended, upon the Question, passed; and is ordered to be sent unto the Lords for their Concurrence.

An Ordinance concerning the paying the Contractors their Salaries was this Day read the Second time; and, upon the Question, committed unto the Committee to whom the former Ordinances were committed, that are now reported: And they are to report it, together with the Ordinance, now with the said Committee, for the further Removing of Obstructions in the Sale of Bishops Lands, on Tuesday next, the first Business, after the Reports at Goldsmiths Hall. They are then likewise to report, What Lordships and Manors, in particular, have been sold, what Monies are come in, and what Manors are contracted for; and their Opinions, touching the Second Four hundred thousand Pounds, to put that in a Way.

It is further Ordered, That it be referred to this Committee, to consider of some Means to encourage Corporations to purchase Bishops Lands, by granting them Privileges: And that the Ordinance for the Thirty thousand Pounds, to be advanced upon the Security of Bishops Lands, for the Poor, be then likewise read.

Chesheire.

Ordered, That the Business concerning Chesheire be taken into Consideration on Thursday next.

Sir W. Lawson, &c.

Ordered, That the Committee of Complaints, and Committee of Indemnity, do forbear to proceed against Sir Wilfred Lawson, Thomas Lamplugh, William Orfeiur, Henry Peirson, William Briscoe, and John Skelton, upon the Informations exhibited against them, or some of them, before the said Committees, until this House take further Order.

Taunton Petition.

An humble Petition, on Behalf of the Town of Taunton, in the County of Somersett, was this Day read: And

Ordered, That a Letter, signed by Mr. Speaker, especially recommending the Desires in the said Petition, for so much thereof as concerneth Mr. Hill, a Member of this House, be sent to the said Mr. Roger Hill; this House being desirous to do all the Favour and good Offices they can to the said Town, who have so well deserved of them.

Ordered, That Mr. Prideaux, be appointed to bring in an Ordinance, according to the Desires of the Town of Taunton, for a Charter to be granted the said Town.

Andever Writ.

Ordered, That a Warrant shall issue forth, under Mr. Speaker's Hand, directed to the Clerk of the Crown in Chancery, to issue forth a Writ, for the new Election of a Burgess to serve in this present Parliament for the Town of Andever in the County of Southampton, in the place of Sir William Waller, formerly elected to serve in that Place, but since disabled.

Petersfield Writ.

Ordered, That a Warrant shall issue forth under Mr. Speaker's Hand, directed to the Clerk of the Crown in Chancery, to issue forth a Writ, for the new Election of a Burgess to serve in this present Parliament for the Borough of Petersfield in the County of Southampton, in the place of Sir Wm. Lewes, formerly elected to serve for that place, and since disabled.

Plantations.

Ordered, That Mr. Henry Lawrence and Captain Westrow be added to the Committee of Plantations.

Ly. Zouch's Nat.

Ordered, That this House do proceed in the Business for the Naturalization of the Lady Zouch, on Thursday next, the first Business.

A Prisoner discharged.

In respect of the humble Acknowledgment, Confession and Submission, of Alderman Cullum, to this House;

It is Resolved, &c. That the Order of his Restraint be totally discharged: And that he be remitted to his former Liberty.

Impeachments.

Ordered, That, on Thursday Morning, this House do proceed upon the Impeachments, next after the Business concerning Articles.
