Prayers.
Relief of Debtors.
MR. Marten reports Amendments to the Act for the Enlargement of Prisoners for Debt: Which were this Day read the First and Second time; and, upon the Question, ordered to be written out, with the Amendments.
Letter read.
A Letter from the Fleet, of the Twenty-fifth of July 1649, from William Hawes, Thomas Colchester, Henry Thornton, and George Harbart, was this Day read.
Ordered, That the said Letter be referred to the Committee of Indemnity; to send for the Parties whose Names are subscribed to the said Letter, and examine them, whether they will justify their Subscriptions; and to report their Opinions to this House, what is fit to be done therein.
Relief of Debtors.
Mr. Marten reports the Bill touching Prisoners, being written out, with the Amendments;
Which was read.
And the Question being put, That the House doth agree to these Amendments.
The House was divided.

That the Act be re-committed, upon the Debate of the House: And all the Members that come to this Committee to have Voices: And the Committee are to meet To-morrow in the Afternoon at Two of the Clock, in the Exchequer Chamber: And that the same Committee do likewise meet on the Bill touching Creditors: And that they bring in both the Bills on Monday Morning.
And Mr. Marten, and Mr. Fell are to take special Care of it.
Irish Army.
Colonel Jones reports from the Council of State, an Establishment for the Irish Army under the now Lord Lieutenant: Which was read; and is as followeth; viz.
The Establishment for the Irish Army, under the now Lord Lieutenant.
The Question being put, That there be an Allowance, in this Establishment, for a President of the Council of War;
It passed with the Negative.
The Question being put, That there be a Lieutenant General of the Ordnance;
It passed with the Negative.
The Question being put, That there be a Marshal's Man to serve as Corporal over the rest;
It passed with the Negative.
Resolved, &c. That this Establishment, so amended, pass.
Ordered, That it be referred to the Council of State; to consider of the Title of this Establishment; and how far it may or ought to reach to the Forces already in Ireland.
Army Committee.
Ordered, That Mr. Reynolds be added to the Committee of the Army.
Lord President.
Ordered, That Mr. Bond, Mr. Attorney General, Dr. Palmer, and Mr. Toll, be added to the Committee touching the Act for the Settling of Lands, of Two thousand Pounds per Annum, on the Lord President.
New England; Propagating Gospel.
An Act for the promoting and propagating the Gospel of Jesus Christ in New England, was this Day read the Third Time; and, upon the Question, passed; and ordered to be printed and published.
