Prayers.

Letters referred.

ORDERED, That the Letters from the Commissioners for the Assessments in the County of York, of the 8th of March 1651, be referred to the Council of State, to take the same into Consideration, and to do therein as they shall think fit.

Marriages, &c.

The Lord Commissioner Whitelock reports from the Committee appointed to receive what shall be presented unto them by the Persons appointed to consider of the Inconveniences in the Laws, an Act touching Marriages, and the Registering thereof; and also touching Births and Burials: Which was this Day read the First time.

The Question being put, That this Bill be now read the Second time;

The House was divided.
The Yeas went forth.

So it was Resolved, That the said Bill be now read the Second time.

And the said Bill was now read the Second time, accordingly; and, upon the Question, committed unto the former Committee for receiving what shall be presented to them by the Persons appointed to consider of the Inconveniences in the Law; and all that will come, to have Voices, as to this Business: And that this Committee do meet, on Thursday every Week in the Afternoon, in the Speaker's Chamber; with Power to adjourn from Place to Place, as they shall think fit.

Resolved, That the Committee appointed to receive what shall be presented to them by the Persons appointed to consider of the Inconveniences in the Law, &c. be impowered to consider of what is presented to them from the said Persons; and to debate the same with them, or among themselves; and thereupon to present the same to the Parliament, if they shall think fit. And Mr. Solicitor, Sir Peter Wentworth, Mr. Ralegh, Sir Henry Vane, Mr. Holland, Mr. Tho. Challoner, Lord Grey, Major-General Harrison, Mr. Trenchard, Mr. Nutt, Colonel Fielder, Mr. Hussey, Colonel Bennett, Alderman Allein, Lieutenant-General Fleetwood, Sir Gilbert Pickering, Sir Wm. Masham, Mr. Darley, Mr. Masham, Mr. Stephens, Mr. Edwards, Mr. Westrow, Mr. Say, Mr. Nevill, Mr. Attorney-General, Mr. Leman, Sir John Bourchier, be added to that Committee.

Ordered, That the Reports touching the Laws be reported every Thursday, the first Business; nothing to intervene.

Fens.

Ordered, That the Report touching the Fens be made on Friday Morning next, the first Business; nothing to intervene.

Regulating the Law.

Resolved, by the Parliament, That Doctor Walter Walker, and Doctor William Turner, be added to the Persons appointed to consider of the Inconveniences in the Law; and that they have the same Power jointly with the Persons formerly appointed.

Fee-farm Rents.

Ordered, That the Act for Sale of Fee-farm Rents be reported the first Business on Tuesday Morning next; nothing to intervene.

The House, according to former Order, adjourned itself to Tuesday Morning next, Eight of Clock.
