Prayers.

Forfeited Estates.

THE House, this Day, resumed the Debate upon the Bill for Sale of several Lands and Estates forfeited to the Commonwealth for Treason.

A Proviso was tendered to this Bill in these Words; viz., "Provided always, and it is hereby Declared, That this Act, or any thing therein contained, shall not extend, or be construed to extend, to settle or vest in the Trustees before-named, any Manors, Lands, Tenements, or Hereditaments, of or belonging to any of the Persons in this Bill named, who, having compounded for Delinquency, had any Part of his or their Estates under actual Sequestration, on the 1st Day of December 1651, for Undervaluation or Concealment; other than such Manors, Lands, Tenements, and Hereditaments of such Person, or so much thereof as was under actual Sequestration on the said 1st Day of December:" Which was twice read.

And the Question being put, That this Proviso be Part of the Bill;

It passed with the Negative.

Resolved, That this Proviso be rejected.

Mr. Garland reports Amendments to the Proviso touching Articles, in these Words; viz. "so as those Complaints be made on or before the Day of , which shall be in the Year of our Lord 165:" Which Amendments were twice read.

The Question being put, That this Proviso be Part of the Bill;

It passed with the Negative.

Resolved, That this Proviso be rejected.

Resolved, by the Parliament, That the Name of Mathias Valentine Esquire be put into this Bill in the Place of Sampson Sheffeild Esquire deceased.

Ordered, That an Act be brought in for making Mathias Valentine Esquire one of the Trustees for Sale of the Lands and Estates forfeited to the Commonwealth for Treason in Two former Acts of Parliament, in the Place of Samson Sheffeild, deceased.

Ordered, That the Names of Philip Tandy, Wm. Benson, and Edward Green, be inserted into this Bill as RegisterAccomptant, in the Place and Stead of Colonel Robert Manwaring, deceased; and that the Name of Colonel Robert Manwaring be omitted.

The Question being put, That the rest of the Provisoes touching particular Persons reported with this Bill do stand;

It passed with the Negative.

Resolved, That this Bill, so amended, be ingrossed, with the Names of all those Persons already voted by the House upon the former List.

Ordered, That a Committee be appointed to peruse the List of those Names, formerly voted by the Parliament, to be inserted into this Bill; and to see the same be inserted; and also to peruse the Bill and Amendments; and dispose of the said Amendments in their proper Places, rectifying Mistakes in the Grammar of it; Viz. unto Mr. Say, Mr. Hill, Mr. Garland, or any Two of them: And that they meet at Two of Clock, this Afternoon, in the Speaker's Chamber.

Articles.

Ordered, That the Act for Articles be read the Third time on Tuesday Morning next.

Scandalous Ministers.

Resolved, That Henry Bromley of Upton, in the County of Worcester, Esquire; John Corbet, Esquire; and Colonel John Bridges; be added Commissioners concerning scandalous and malignant Ministers, for the said County of Worcester: And they are hereby impowered to sit and act as Commissioners, accordingly.

Invalid Soldiers.

Ordered, That the Commissioners of Excise do forthwith pay out of the Cash coming in upon the Second Additional Ordinance of 24 Novembris 1645, the Sum of One thousand Pounds to the Treasurers for the maimed Soldiers; and when the Debts already charged upon the said Ordinance shall be discharged, that then the Monies collected and received, by virtue of the said Ordinance, shall be wholly disposed of, till the Parliament give further Order, for Relief of the maimed Soldiers, and paid to the said Treasurers for the Time being, accordingly: Whose Acquittance or Acquittances, from time to time, shall be a sufficient Discharge to the said Commissioners for Excise; and the Auditor and Comptroller are to take Notice hereof, accordingly.
