Thursday, the 13th of October, 1653.

E. of Shrewsbury.

COLONEL Jones reports from the Council of State, The humble Petition of John Earl of Shrewsbury: Which was now read.

Resolved, That this Petition be referred to a Committee, to examine the Truth of the Business; and state the same; and report it to the House.

Resolved, That it be referred to the Committee of Petitions.

Thieves and Highwaymen.

Resolved, That Colonel Blunt do bring in, To-morrowMorning, a Bill for the Encouragement of such as shall apprehend or discover Highwaymen and Robbers, and for the better suppressing of them.

Idiots, &c.

A Bill touching Idiots and Lunaticks was this Day read the Third time.

The Question being put, That the Word "Infants" shall stand in this Bill;

It passed in the Negative.

The Question being put, that these Words, in the last Part of the Bill, "not continue in Force any longer than until County Judicatures shall be settled and established by Act of Parliament in this Commonwealth, unless the Parliament shall see Cause to the contrary," do stand in the Bill;

It passed in the Negative.

Resolved, That, instead thereof, these Words be inserted, "continue in Force, until the First Day of September One thousand Six hundred Fifty and Four, and no longer."

And the Bill, so amended, being put to the Question, passed: And was ordered to be printed and published.

High Court of Justice.

Mr. Broughton reports from the Committee appointed for that Purpose, A Bill, intituled, An Act for establishing an High Court of Justice: Which was read the First and Second time; and, upon the Question, was committed to Mr. Broughton, Mr. Sadler, Colonel Jones, Colonel Bennett, Mr. Spence, Major-General Harrison, MajorGeneral Desborough, Mr. Taylor, Colonel Blunt, Colonel Clerk, Sir James Hope, Mr. Barbon, Captain Courtney, or any Five of them, to meet at Two of Clock this Afternoon, in the Speaker's Chamber.

He also reports from the same Committee, the Names of the Commissioners for the High Court of Justice: Which were this Day read; and committed to the former Committee.

Stowell's Estate.

A Bill, intituled, An Act for Confirmation of the Sale of the Estate of Sir John Stowell Knight of the Bath, was this Day read the Third time; and, upon the Question, passed.
