Prayers.

Assessment.

AN Act for an Assessment for Three Months, at the Rate of Sixty thousand Pounds by the Month, was this Day read the Second time.

The Question being put, That there be an Alteration in the Proportions from the last Tax, for these next Three Months;

The House was divided.

The Yeas went forth.

Colonel Jones, Tellers for the Yeas: 93.
Colonel Beaumont, With the Yeas,
Lord Broghill, Tellers for the Noes: 106.
Captain Howard, With the Noes,

So it passed in the Negative.

Resolved, That this Bill be committed to a Committee of the whole House.

Resolved, That the House be resolved into a Grand Committee, this Afternoon, upon this Bill.

Assessment.

THE House was resolved into a Committee of the whole House, upon the Bill for the Assessment, according to the Order of this Day.

Mr. Speaker left the Chair.

Mr. Turnor was called to the Chair.

Mr. Speaker resumed the Chair.

Mr. Turnor reports the Desire of the Grand Committee, for Leave to sit again on Friday Morning, upon this Bill.

Resolved, That the House be resolved into a Committee of the whole House on Friday Morning next, upon the Bill for the Assessment.
