Pirates.

A BILL to prevent the Delivery up of English Ships to Pirates, was read.

Resolved, &c. That the Bill be read a Second time on Monday.

Royal Aid.

A Bill for the Recovery of Money assessed upon Officers, and due to his Majesty upon the Act of Royal Aid, was read,

Resolved, &c. That the Bill be read a Second time.

Leigh's Estate.

An ingrossed Bill for enabling Tho. Leigh Esquire to sell Part of his Lands for Payment of Debts, was read.

Resolved, &c. That the Bill do pass: And that the Title be, An Act to enable Thomas Leigh Esquire to sell Part of his Lands for Payment of Debts: And that Sir Fowke Lucy do carry up the Bill to the Lords.

Repairing Highways.

Ordered, That the Bill for repairing Highways, be read on Monday Morning.

Prettyman's Debt to the Crown.

A Bill for Sale of some of the Lands of Sir John Prettyman, to satisfy a Debt due to his Majesty, was read the Second time.

A Proviso on the Behalf of Sir John Heath and his Lady (in whose Right he claims) was also twice read.

Resolved, &c. That the Bill and Proviso be committed to Sir Winston Churchill, Sir Jo. Mallett, Sir Gilbert Talbot, Sir Tho. Gower, Mr. Hobby, Sir Edward Mansfeild, Sir Robert Howard, Sir James Thyn, Mr. Spencer, Mr. Spry, Col. Kirby, Sir Jo. Kinght, Mr. Morice, Sir Court. Poole, Mr. Culleford, Sir Wm. Coventry, Mr. Marvell, Mr. Bainton, Sir Jo. Talbot, Mr. Greenvile, Mr. Lucy, Sir Herbert Price, Mr. Buscawen, Mr. Seymor, Sir Allen Apsley, Sir Lanc. Lake, Mr. Ed. Seymor, Sir Walt. Young, Sir Robert Car, Mr. Chomely, Mr. Ernley, Sir Allen Broderick, Sir Wm. Lewis, Sir Ed. Hungerford, Sir Wm. Doyle, Mr. Daniell: And they are to meet in the Speaker's Chamber on Monday next, at Two of the Clock in the Afternoon, and to send for Persons, Papers, and Records.

The House being informed, that Sir Edw. Hungerford, a Member of this House, was concerned in point of Title and Interest to the Manor of Loddington, and Lands mentioned in the Bill; and it being desired, that he may have time to send into the Country for his Writings; and to be heard by Counsel at the Bar of the House;

Ordered, That the Matter concerning the Interest and Claim of Sir Edw. Hungerford to the Manor of Loddington, and Lands mentioned in the Bill against Sir John Prettyman, for Satisfaction of a Debt due to his Majesty, be heard at the Bar of this House on Monday Sevennight next.

Duty on Brandy.

The House then resumed the Consideration of the Matters in Difference between the Farmers of Excise, Merchant Importers, and Distillers, concerning Brandy.

And the Parties, with their Counsel, were called in to the Bar of the House: And the Patent, and Counterpart of the Farmers Patent, and several Papers and Writings being read, and Witnesses examined, and Counsel on all Sides fully heard;

Resolved, &c. The Bill for regulating and true making of Brandy, and prohibiting the Importation of it, be read on Monday Morning.

Resolved, &c. That the Debate of the Matter in Difference touching Brandy be adjourned till Monday Morning.

And then the House adjourned till Five of the Clock.

Lady Belasysse's Estate.

AN Act for settling Part of the Estate of Dame Susan Belasysse, Widow, late Wife of Sir Henry Belasysse, deceased, was read.

Resolved, &c. That the Bill be read a Second time.

Lord Strangford's Estate.

A Bill, sent from the Lords, to enable the Lord Viscount Strangford, of the Kingdom of Ireland, to sell certain Lands for the Payment of the Remainder of his Debts, was read the Second time.

Resolved, &c. That the Bill be committed to Lord Buckhurst, Mr. Tanner, Sir Tho. Meeres, Sir Charles Sidley, Mr. Crowch, Sir Jonath. Trelawny, Mr. Steward, Sir Tho. Hanmer, Mr. Vaughan, Col. Rebuilding London.

The House then proceeded in the Report of the Bill for rebuilding the City of London.

And some other of the Provisoes being twice read, and, upon the Question, agreed to;

The House then resumed the Matter upon the Clause postponed, touching the setting the Rates of Wharfage above Bridge: Which, in the Determination of it, having relation to another Paragraph in the Body of the Bill, as to the setting the Rate of Wharfage below Bridge, in which the Interest of Sir Anthony Cope, a Member, and others, are concerned;

Whose Counsel being called in; and they, and other Parties concerned, heard; and the Matter fully debated;

The Question being put, That his Majesty in Council shall set the Rates of Wharfage above Bridge;

It was resolved in the Affirmative.

The Question ... put, That the Paragraph in the Bill, as to the setting the Rates of Wharfage, shall stand as it is;

It passed in the Negative.

Resolved, &c. That his Majesty in Council shall set the Rates of Wharfage below Bridge.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Chairman of the Committee to amend the Paragraph in the Bill, and the Clause brought in from the Committee, according to these Votes.

Ordered, That the further Consideration of the Report of the City Bill be adjourned till Monday.

Firbeck Manor.

Ordered, That the Bill, sent from the Lords, concerning the Manor of Firbeck, be read on Monday Morning.
